This place has special meaning for us so we try to make it there as much as we can. Food is always excellent. The wine list(or bottles they actually have in stock) is lacking so bring your own and just do the corkage fee. They have recently updated and while it looks beautiful, it seemed to be much louder in there as opposed to prior visits. The walls are currently empty so our hope is some art will absorb some of the noise. That’s why I’ve dropped them to 4 stars. Hope our next visit gets us back to 5. We have always gone with reservations, but I think the prior observations about the«regular» crowd is appropriate. I don’t have a problem with that. If you have great customers coming in each week then it’s perfectly fine for management to greet them, etc. We have always been seated at our reservation time. The only difference I notice is the chef coming out to greet select guests. No big deal. Service is outstanding. Mushroom ravioli is my favorite. Salmon, rack of lamb and fried green tomatoes are always a treat. And the crème brûlée…love it!

Menu is small indeed but small menu’s usually allow for great food and at Suze this is indeed the case. They must have a waiter per table as there is someone to get for help at every possible moment. We dined there with friends who brought our own wine(Suze’s wine list is lacking and if I lived in Dallas, I would trade food for building their list) but their corkage fee is fairly light. We shared lamb chops and our dinner partners had the fish dish of the day with the ladies splitting fried green tomatoes — all good! If we ever get back to Big D and are not dining at Al Biernat’s, we will return to Suze. As the sing over the door says, «Just get in here!»

I’m not a chef — but I found the food there at Suze very chef Like!!! great! The fish and salad I hade were served fast and tasty ! The thing I didn’t like was the atmosphere was off — I think it’s time for a refresh soon.

Absolutely wonderful! The food is amazing and the service is great. We love dining here. BYOB, quite, cozy and delicious food. Reservations a must. We drive from McKinney to dine here, it’s totally worth the drive.

Always good service and consistently great food. This is a neighborhood gem, not necessarily a destination spot. It is located next to a common grocery store, but inside it is quiet and generally good for conversing over a fine meal. Plus one of the few places where you can bring your own wine(at corking fee).

Moments of very good and moments of very average. The Caesar salad is simple and has a nice lemony/vinegar zing & the off the menu Sayklay Salad is a great mix of sour/sweet/salty. Friends had the«pappardella”(wrongly spelled on the menu) Bolognese and the noodles were overcooked. The Iron Skillet Roasted Salmon was cooked to perfection but suffered from major overseasoning and set on a misfired, cold equally overseasoned asian-y noodle salad. The main issue for us was the server who made it very clear he was«mailing it in». He left us to pour all the wine, never cleared glasses or empty bottles and was not at all involved in the experience. Service was definitely the biggest downfall of the dinner.

I’ve been dining at Suze since it opened back in the 90s & can’t believe I’ve not written a review on the place until now. I love that they allow BYOB. As a wine geek I can tell you that this menu cries out for great wine pairings. I like bringing my own & am fine with a corkage fee. Arrived last night for a bday celebration(mine;) with a couple fellow wine geeks. We brought 89 La Mission Haut Brion, 82 Pichon Lalande & a just released 2011 Yquem to try w foie gras. Suze foie gras was flawless! The lamb was served med rare & juicy & went perfectly w the Bordeaux & the pan fried rabbit was also very good. This place has always been one of my standards & it’s always nice to see the chef visit with the guests personally to check on the meals. I’ll keep coming back.

Wonderful dinner experience, the food was delicious and great service. I had a redfish special and peach salad. We also split mussels and tempura soft shell crab. I would definitely return. Inside is very intimate and has a neighborhood restaurant feel.

So this place was ok to good for me. It feels like a Secret place once you walk in. The restaurant is located in a shopping center. I ordered the veal pasta and it was good. Not blow your mind away good but good. Now when I had the pasta the best day was the best. The ambience was quiet which is good for me because I could hear my self think and friends talk. Everyone else loved there meal so I will be back and order a seafood dish. This would be a 3.5 place and update later.

Excellent overall restaurant. Fried green tomatoes were excellent, mushroom ravioli very good, truffle fries very good, and trout with quinoa very good. I can’t say enough good things about the service. Very attentive, but not intrusive. Knowledgeable and friendly personnel. Quaint little restaurant that is above average cost, but the food is well worth it.

I think we may have found our new favorite restaurant with Suze. The soft bread and pesto was delicious! I’m a bread snob and won’t cheat on my diet if the bread isn’t excellent. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer which was delicious and not too fishy. I had the grouper and my fiancé had the trout. Generous portions and so good that we cleaned our plates. We’ve definitely found our new date spot.

I was initially a little nervous trying a suburban restaurant in a retail strip. It is next to an Albertsons I think is was. We made a reservation, and did not have to wait much at all(it wasn’t that busy at the time, but hopefully they can keep up the good planning). The service was excellent, and the young-ish guys that work there were pretty cool and made you feel comfortable. Definitely on top of their game. We started with the fried green tomatoes. It was well prepared, not too innovative, but nothing wrong with it. The main courses are what shined. My gf got some fish dish, and I got the linguini with prawns. I’m writing this a little after the fact, so I don’t remember specifics for the main dishes, but the lasting impression was that it was very well prepared, and house made pasta is a simple, but very nice touch. We were pretty full, so didn’t get a dessert, but from what I saw on other tables, it looked great. Hopefully next time we’ll have more time to try their dessert. The place is pretty small, and tables are close together, but the clientele are pretty quiet and polite. Don’t let the location sway you, I think we’ll be back. Location may not be FT33 level of coolness, but the food and service makes it worth the trip.

I went for the first time for dinner and loved it. We went early, since the BYOB $ 25 corkage fee is waived before 6:30 pm. The food from beginning to end was perfect. We had the flatbread truffle appetizer which was fabulous. The mushrooms ravioli was perfect. The chocolate gob desert was probably the best desert I’ve ever had! Service was good. But if you aren’t a regular you will be secondary/on the back burner. Everyone there were regulars and were treated as such… this did put a couple gaps in our service since we were the stepchildren there. I just want to become a regular too! Great place And great dinner. I can’t wait to go back!

Sea bass was the winner of the night @ $ 28. It was on special not on reg menu. I listed to the other Unilocalers recommendations about bringing a bottle of wine. Yes, a $ 25 «cork fee» is steep but if you’re bringing a nice bottle of wine it still comes out less than the mark up you’ll pay and you’ll get the wine you want. We also had the Trout which was was just Ok — a little dry. The one thing I really wish they would have done… I called when I made the reservations and told them I was taking my friend there for his bday and even reminded the server when we sat down we were there for his bday. They didn’t offer a dessert or really make him feel special at all. In the future for special dates, I’d choose a different restaurant but for a local neighborhood restaurant it’s fine.

Yay, Valentines dinner, I was actually expecting on just going home after running errands and it wasn’t until we got stuck in really horrible traffic and my bf called to push back our reservation that I realized we were actually going out to eat. Coming up to the restaurant was a little odd, I didn’t expect it to be in a plaza but whatever, lots of things surprise me all the time. We walked in and were seated immediately. Bf commented that the place looked like something from Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares(the new eye-catching décor: large tilted mirrors, large cutout in the dividing wall, the red walls, cushy large ottoman-looking waiting couch). We received our menus upon seating and I saw the look of disappointment wash over my bf; Valentines day = prix fixe menu, not the regular menu. He mentioned he specifically came here for the reviews on the foie gras(its been a while since we had been able to enjoy it due to the foie gras ban in CA). Our waiter came over and insisted on inquiring with the chef about the foie gras and surprise surprise, they were able to provide it for us!!! :-D It was delicious. We also got the carpaccio and the lobster sliders; carpaccio was good(although it had cilantro and weird cut up peppers on it) and the lobster sliders were ok, I could have done without it though. Our salads were ok; I just hated how much raw onion was in mine, not a big fan of onion. Bf got the steak while I had the veal; I had a bad experience with veal prior to this but decided to take the chance and I’m so glad I did. It was soooo good! Bf’s steak was good but neither one of us were fond of the stuff it came with :-/As for dessert, he got the crème brûlée while I had the chocolate mousse; mine was a tad too rich for me and I ate a lot of my dessert with a bite of the brulee. Overall, it was a good meal, we may or may not be back but it was a nice experience. The restaurant itself is very accomodating, I overheard if you call ahead to request a specific dish they will special order the ingredients for you! That’s amazing customer service. The only con I had wasn’t even about the restaurant, the couple at the next table over was really offended that their dishes hadn’t come out before ours did because they had ordered before us. I felt like rolling my eyes, it really wasn’t as big of a deal as they made it, I don’t want to sterotype but it feels like people here takes things so personally! Whatever though, his bad attitude wasn’t enough to take anything away from my meal :-) At $ 75/person, I feel it was a tad overpriced for the dining experience but at the same time, its within the same ballpark as other restaurants with similar dishes.

Oh my goodness. Every single bite I took at this place was divine. Service was great. Just a teeny bit pricey. From the first bite of the house bread w the flavorful basil infused oil, to the last bite of my absolutely to die for Porcini Pappardella Pasta $ 19. I also had one their flatbreads for an appetizer. Eye-rolling good. My friend had a ravioli that she devoured, along with the bittersweet chocolate«gob» $ 9. Just like it sounds. She forced me to take a bite. Or two. Oh my. She eats dessert. I drink dessert. But I cannot remember the wine by the glass that I had, but It was about $ 10 glass cabernet and very good. Overpriced nonetheless. But I will visit again. Just great food. Nice atmosphere. Good service. A dining trifecta.

Everything about Suze is marvelous, from start to finish. The cozy & intimate interior sets you up for a lovely evening as soon as you arrive. Most of the waitstaff are longtime servers, so it is possible to build some small relationships and truly get the sense of being a neighborhood regular. The menu, while not particularly extensive, is inventive, consistent, and oh-so-delectable. Suze is the family go-to spot for all our«event» evenings(and sometimes a random Thursday for good measure) — the BYOW and reasonable corkage allow you to really customize your evening as you see fit. It would be a misdemeanor against humanity if you did not try the Hudson Valley foie gras — it’s perfectly seared, with a light sauce that can only be described as «exquisite.» Follow it with a classic Suze Caesar… for entrees, there are so many really strong options that you should probably visit several consecutive weeks in order to try them all. If you’re in the mood for pasta, the pappardella is a monstrous serving of carbs, accented by the unmistakeable musk of porcini(sounds so good when I say it like that, huh?). The tenderloin is remarkable both ways, although the second option on the menu is the stronger of the two, in my opinion. Scallops? Heavenly. In fact, the only thing I’ve ever eaten at Suze that I found less than spectacular were the mussels — the flavor was too oceany for me. It’ll be hard, but save room — the Gob awaits you. Under no circumstances may you ever, ever leave Suze without trying it. Just trust me here. Don’t question. Obey.

I find Suze to be one of those subtly pretentious names with unclear pronunciation, but pretentious doesn’t describe this neighborhood gem, which provides understated excellence to a small crowd of Preston Hollow regulars. Open for over a decade, they have somehow stayed off the beaten path of Dallas dining. The space is small and intimate. The waiters know and are known by their patrons. The menu is small but versatile, ranging from foie gras to fried green tomatoes. It isn’t inexpensive, but it also isn’t so esoteric as to discourage regulars. I enjoyed their almond-crusted trout and house salad.

Dear Unilocalers, I’m happy to report an excellent experience at Suze last night! After seeing the same menu for so many years, I had stopped going. But yesterday, after some stressful planning over our new house, Leo Z. and I went for a quiet dinner. I was delighted to see a make-over of the menu. New and old dishes were on the menu, and it was nice to be somewhere where there wasn’t 100 items to choose from! There were seven or eight entrée choices, along with some of the standard appetizers from the past, along with some new choices! I went with the Suze salad and the venison entrée. Great choices! Leo tried the arugula salad and the pasta special(ravioli), and trust me, his plate was clean! Service was a vast improvement over past experiences, and it was nice to see the same people that were in training a year or so ago were still there, and they all had the rythem down! Thank you Suze for a GREAT dinner! I love having a place in the neighborhood that’s upscale when I’m in the mood!

Went to Suze with the BF Saturday night. This restaurant really wasn’t even on my radar so I was definitely surprised when he pulled up. It is flanked by an Albertson’s…literally between the front and side door of the grocery store. We walked in and I was surprised to see how small it was. And that many of the diners were my parents’ age and older. AND no bar! We had reservations but had to wait for about 10 minutes so the lady that was seating people brought us some wine. Wine prices were a little steep by the glass… from $ 8 to $ 15 for glasses. We got a glass of some malbec for $ 10(and later bought an entire bottle for $ 42 which seemed more reasonable). Seating is most definitely tight and close beside your other diners so don’t go there for a breakup talk! They bring out bread with some pesto to dip it in which we polished off in no time. For a starter we ordered the sesame lavosh pizza — thin crispy sesame cracker almost with spinach pesto, tomatoes, mozzarella, and parmesan. Crunch-a-licious good! They also have other choices like a Medeterranean platter with hummus, olives, etc and fried green tomatoes. Another table got those and I was jealous immediately. Next time I’m getting those. For my entrée I got one of the specials of the evening: the center cut pork chop. Honestly one of the biggest freakin pork chops I have ever seen — it was almost as big as the plate. It came with mashed potatoes, carrots, and the sauce on it was a cherry sauce. It was sweet and savory all together and tasted amazing! The BF got the baby rack of lamb. The lamb was pepper crusted and came with a zucchini feta cake. I thought the lamb was great but that zucchini thing was eeeeh not my favorite so I am glad I stuck with the pork chop. The dessert selection didn’t really wow me. We chose the crème brûlée of the day which was cinnamon. It was perfect on the top… super crunchy and had that almost burned sugar taste that I loooove and good hint of cinnamon. Must mention that our waiter was awesome! He was always on top of our requests and he joked around with us when we did with him. Good service, good sense of humor, loved him! Overall I’d say the food was really good and the evening was nice. I don’t know when I’ll ever make it back but if someone wanted to go I definitely wouldn’t complain!
