very reasonable price for downtown. sushi are just ok, i should say. but their seaweed salad and miso soup are pretty good.

This place is located in the building below my office. You pay by weight and you can get a decent selection of sushi, rolls, tempura and a bit of salad for under $ 10. This includes drink and the free soup. The tempura jalapeño poppers are yummy. Their sushi is fresh and comparable to what you get at a grocery store. What I appreciate most is the variety and I can pick based on my current craving.

I love sushi and finding a place near home is great. They have a very good selection sushi and if sushi isn’t your thing they still have other things like all types of tempura, ramen, yaki soba, donkatsu and others. First time going today and I know I’ll be back.

Sushiyaa, a little inexpensive diner inside a skyscraper office building, is located in Dallas’s Central Business District. The elevators take you down to the ground floor, where it shares space with the other food vendors. The ground floor vendors so close together remind me of a mall’s food court. The total meal cost depends on what you get; the«buffet» is actually a self-serve sushi counter, so once you pick the rolls, the cost depends on the weight. The sushi choices include rolls mostly laden with spicy mayo, hot sauce, or tempura flakes; they also have typical rolls such as California, spicy tuna, salmon, or veggie(avocado and cucumber). I mostly placed medium sized rolls in my carton, so my total was under $ 6, which also includes soup. Just like the sushi«buffet», you self-serve in the soup area, but only after you pay for your sushi. They have tofu cubes and seaweed for the miso soup base! So, the customer gets to complete the meal. If you are starving, I would highly suggest finding a place that would better suit your appetite. I mostly enjoyed my meal here, and I liked the hot soup’s comforting taste. All the employees also helped me in a very friendly manner. If you want a fast and convenient meal, definitely try Sushiyaa.

We chose this place because it was within walking distance to our hotel. Everything was phenomenal and fairly priced. Me and my co worker had the shrimp and vegetable tempura, California roll, miso soup and fried rice. This was more food than we could eat and we did not have one complaint. The fried rice is a MUST have!!! Definitely worth stopping by!

Sushiyaa is definitely one of the better Asian places in my opinion around downtown that is a QSR at a reasonable price. Everything you get is based on the weight. They have sushi, hence the name, but other items to accommodate to you as well, such as beef stir fry, chicken fried rice, etc … You are also given the option to get a free bowl of ramen soup or miso soup. The ramen soup is a bit more spicy than the miso. This is one of my go-tos when I’m at work and feeling like spending less on lunch.

Is this the best sushi that I have ever had? No, however it is not the worst. It’s buffet style sushi that you purchase by the lb. I got a few pieces and made it out for about $ 7 and some change. It is clean and made consistently as needed. If you have a craving, and work downtown, this place will do the trick.

Okay, so this is buffet style sushi and assorted oriental hot foods sold by the pound. Some of the sushi selections are not traditional, but it is a large buffet, and the hot foot leans toward more flavorful Japanese and Szechuan dishes. The nigiri sushi is $ 1 a piece if your really have to have it. You can really stuff yourself silly for under $ 8. The fish is very fresh and the hot food has never been stale. This is a great lunch bargain! If that’s not good enough for snob appeal and you still want upscale sushi for lunch, then go to Sushiyaa’s sit down restaurant on the next block behind the Ackard train station, or to Zenna nearby… leaves more for me here :-D.

Stopped by this place on my way to the sandwich spot next door. I decided sushi was a better, healthier option. I really don’t klnow what I just ate. Presentation is good and food is somewhat tasty, however they use fake crab which I was not aware of in all of their rolls and something other than real salmon for the sashimi on top of a roll. Never again. The word is Krab not crab and should be labeled as such.

I kinda want to punch the people who complain about the sushi quality at this place. I mean, its sushi. cafeteria style. in a food court. by the pound. If you’re expecting Nobu quality fish, then you my friend are pretty special(and not in the good way). But anyway… the good part? Its sushi. cafeteria style. in a food court. by the pound. HELLYES! I work in the 1700 Pacific building, so this is pure bliss for me. I personally prefer not to eat greasy burgers and fries or, god forbid Taco Bell every day for lunch, so it’s nice to have a better, semi-healthier option to boring fast foods. Its cheap(under $ 10?!) and there are several options to chose from. And its tasty. Is it top quality? Not necessarily, but it is good and inexpensive. I’ll take it :)

Great place for a quick lunch in the tunnels. Easy to pick your own rolls and flavors and it’s incredibly clean! I love the opportunity to mix and match your lunch options. My only complaint is that it’s too easy to spend $ 10+ on lunch. BUT — who wouldn’t pay that at a sushi restaurant anyway? Great deal, great location, and stellar food. Yum!

I write reviews based on comparison of other restaurants in the same category, and this is some of the best quick food you can get. Sushi Yaa has fantastic sushi in this very clean, cafeteria-style restaurant. There are always 15 – 20 choices plus other cooked items. I only come here for the rolls and the nigiri so can’t comment on the cooked items. You load up your plastic box and pay at the end by weight plus $ 1 for nigiri pieces. I usually don’t eat sushi except with a small group so I can get variety. Here, no problem on variety as you can just choose a piece or two of each! Plus, you get free soup w/your order. After you pay, you can get as much as you need of soy sauce, ginger, spicy mayo, and a couple more items. The service here is always excellent with friendly employees. An additional prop to the employees – I left my wallet here and had to pick it up the next morning. The manager wasn’t there yet to open the safe, so the employees let me borrow money from their tip jar so I could pay my parking(repaid them more than double of course!). It is nice to see such honest people in the world. I am definitely a loyal-for-life customer. If you want sushi on fine bone china and wine in a Sommeliers Riedel glass, don’t come here. This is good, solid, fresh sushi in a plastic box that you take to go!

SushiYAA will never be the best sushi I’ve had, but for the price it’s a solid option. «Fast food» style sushi by the pound, plus chicken teriyaki, rice, noodles, and even ice cream in the summer. Too many fried rolls for my personal taste(but that’s a complaint about many of the area sushi bars). None of it tasted amazing(if you want amazing sushi near downtown, check out Yutaka), but for less than $ 10, it’s a fair price for the sushi they offer. It gets four stars because for the price point, it’s better than I expected.

I had no idea this SushiYAA was even downtown, let alone how great the food is. The best part about this restaurant is that you can mix and match individual pieces of sushi, meats, vegetables, and salads and pay by the lb, rather than having to order and devour an entire roll of one variety. On my visit, they had no fewer than 20 different kinds of sushi rolls to select from, a chicken katsu, chicken terriyaki, salad, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and some pork mixed dishes. Grab a tray and either a plate or a plastic to go container, and fill it up as you slide through the line. At the end, they weigh your food and charge you accordingly. A fountain drink is $ 1.35. If you buy over $ 10 of food, you can get a free cup of frozen yogurt(for which they also have three different kinds of cereal toppings). Overall, this is a wonderful fast place to taste a bunch of different rolls without breaking the bank. I was in and out in under 20 minutes, and my giant meal was $ 12, so the few quarters for parking nearby was totally worth it. You can enter the tunnels — where SushiYAA resides — via the street entrance next door to the Starbucks on Ervay and Pacific.

For what it is– a fast food sushi by-the-pound cafeteria style restaurant– its pretty good. They keep the sushi rotation going pretty well, so you get fresh sushi. None of the rolls are blow-my-mind amazing, but hey, this is fast food sushi. I think level setting your expectations is key. This is not Sushi Sake or Nobu, and with an average meal here costing about 8 – 12 bucks, that should be an indicator. You also get«free» miso or ramen soup with your order, so if for some reason you didn’t get enough sushi, just load up on a liquid diet! If you spend $ 10 or more, you get free froyo, which is a plus. Another plus– I’ve never become sick off this sushi. WOO! The one downside: people who take too long to decide what sushi they want– they end up holding up the line. GET A MOVEON or feel the wrath of my chopsticks! Or just a passive aggressive glare…

I love this place, as you might be able to tell. I eat here for lunch at least once per week, on average. SushiYAA is located under 1700 Pacific in the Pedestrian Network tunnels, and I consider this place to be my little hidden, toro-colored gem. So, there’s nothing bad to say about SushiYAA, other than it’s in a cafeteria. But, it IS fast food sushi. In keeping with tradition, I am always loudly greeted when I arrive. I’ve never been leery of the quality of the sushi or the freshness. This place gets really busy and the sushi plates are constantly rotating. It’s buffet style, so you pick what you want and take as little or much as you want. The variety is pretty great; maki and nori with cooked options, fried and steamed rice, entrée chicken, beef and pork, three salads and two soups. The best part is that they charge by the ounce, and if you buy more than $ 10 worth in one sitting, you get free ice cream! Oh, and if you plan to make SushiYAA my kind of habit, I would suggest picking up one of their frequent diner cards… only 10 stamps stand between you and $ 7 off your meal :)

SushiYAA is a great lunch stop in downtown Dallas. It’s located at the food court nestled inside the 1700 Pacific office building, so don’t look for an outside sign. Also be aware, that there is another restaurant downtown called Sushi Ya, so don’t get the two mixed up, like we did the first time.(Sushi Ya has great food, but it’s sit down, not quick dining). The first thing to know about SushiYAA is that it’s a cafeteria style dining experience. You go down the line and select the sushi, tempura, salads, and other Japanese dishes as desired and pay by the weight. You can also purchase all the regular soft drinks, plus a few tasty flavored iced teas(plum jasmine is my favorite), and soft serve yogurt for dessert. I have visited SushiYAA half a dozen times in the past few months, and the sushi is always very tasty and fresh. Given that it’s a cafeteria line, I was really surprised at the freshness. I tend to stay away from the fried sushi and tempura, as those items really only taste fresh if served immediately(if you’re picky like me). There are more than thirty varieties of sushi, sashimi(extra cost for these), and other great foods. I often pick up the sushi and walk back home(about 20-minute walk) before eating… and it’s still great! While it may not be the best sushi I’ve ever had in my live, we’re never disappointed. The line moves pretty quickly, so it’s a great fast lunch. The only downside for me is that it’s only open(downtown location) from 11 – 3, Monday through Friday. If I have a craving on the weekend, I have to wait. But at this location, even the Starbucks is closed on the weekends, so I don’t hold it against them. Seating is anywhere in the food court, so you have a lot of options(though it can get busy during peak lunch hours). Overall, this is one of those places that keeps me coming back and always makes me very happy. For quick food at lunch, it’s one of my favorites.

Gross. Go to Ninja Sushi instead. The people that frequent this joint are loud and obnoxious. Lots of weaboo kids. Food is terrible. Service is average. I’ve been twice. Once to check it out, second time to see if I just picked a bad night to go. Never again.

Sorry, but I’m OBSESSED with this place. It’s the bees knees. First of all, sushi by the pound?!? For $ 6.99? Who came up with this BRAZILLIANT idea? This gem is located underground at 1700 Pacific building downtown. I joined the man piece for lunch today, since his job this week has him working in that building. It’s literally like this… grab a tray, grab a plate. Move through the line grabbing whatever your little heart desires. California Roll? Shrimp Tempura? Eel Roll? Spicy Tuna? Spider Roll? The list goes on and on. If you’re not in the mood for sushi, they also have yakisoba and fried rice. Tempura veggies and shrimp, spicy chicken, wontons… etc. Doesn’t cost any extra… all by the pound. They also have FREE Miso Soup!!! FREE!!! The only thing that costs extra is the Nigiri, its $ 1 per pc. But I had overloaded so much on my plate already I felt that I needed to surrender. When you’ve paid, make your way to the little side bar where you’ll find the soup and all the little accoutrement’s to go with it. Spicy Mayo… soy sauce… teriyaki…wasabi mayo… wasabi in all its glory and little cups for you to fill ‘er up! Then, go have a seat in the little cafeteria and take the rest of the day off. The food is delicious and I was WAY full when I finished… yes I ate everything on my plate. I don’t waste.
