SpringHill Suites Dallas Downtown/West End

The location of this hotel is solid. You are near the highways and many local food options. Pay attention as you approach the location. The driveway is narrow and hard to recognize until you are right on top of it. There is no self parking at the facility, just valet. There are a couple pay lots nearby.
From the outside the building looks new and cool. The lobby also looks pretty good. There is a coffee and hot chocolate area. Also there is a small snack shop like many of these locations have.
The room its self is in need of an update. There was a mini fridge, a microwave and a sink. The shower is good sized, but there is no shelf of any kind in it, so you have to put your stuff on the floor of the shower.
The biggest issue with the room is the heater/​air conditioner unit. It is an old school style unit with a thermostat directly on it. It is very loud and it came on frequently. We tried to go without it, but the room got very cold, very fast. If you are a light sleeper, you will need to look elsewhere. The room went from cold to hot and back frequently.
We did not use it, but they do have a breakfast each morning. There is also a gym on site.
The next issue was with the staff and their tight control of towels. We had a room with two beds and a fold out. Yet when we arrived we had two towels and one wash cloth in the room. We requested more, one for each person in the room, but were given the third degree. After some time we did receive the towels we needed. Of course we had to go through the exact same process the very next day.
This hotel could easily be a very good location with some slight tweaks and maybe some long term updates. Until then though, I would recommend going elsewhere.

This hotel was horrible! For starters, the rooms were very dated and were not clean on the inside. The worst part was the noise, the wall mounted a/​c-​heat pump kept turning on and off every 5 min, no matter what setting I tried. On top of that the hallway past my room was taped off with plastic for the construction that was going on. It appeared they worked into the night because the workers would yell up and down the hall to each other.
I would never stay at this hotel again, I slept horrible both nights I was there.

The location might be great as well as the staff. That doesn’t fix the loud construction that starts at 8 AM & ends at 5 PM. Construction that’s supposedly on the top floors according to the front desk. Staying on one of the lower floors it sounds like it’s directly above us & woke up our entire family after a very long day. There are other places to stay that are actually quiet.

Noise noise noise. Having to point out every single noise source seems like a fail. First it was the (LOUD) pool music. I was changed rooms. Then it was the constant slamming of the door of the room opposite to mine and very loud staff conversations since before 7am, emptying of bottles in bags (staff used it as service room, the door was propped open with a towel). Then it was hammering on the roof?! When someone asks for a quieter room you’re placing them where work is taking place? Haven’t slept in 3 days so I’m cranky. I have recordings of all this by the way so hotel management will be receiving an email.

Surprisingly good stay. The hotel was clean and the rooms were a good size — separate sitting area with a small kitchenette type space (microwave, fridge, coffee maker). I do wish the fridge had a freezer section as I had to throw away some ice cream.
The hotel staff went out of their way to help me use the local transportation to travel to downtown Dallas. They researched what I needed to do and provided some ideas of where and what to see downtown. They spent a lot of time helping me.
The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants and with sidewalks everywhere it’s easy to walk to them.
The breakfast was not bad. I just wish the juice machines could be left open longer. I did enjoy the afternoon/​evening water infused with fruit.
I would stay here again if in the area.

Location, Location, Location! That’s why I picked this hotel and that’s why I’d stay here again. It’s close to so many things. We stayed here because we were going to the House of Blues. If it hadn’t been extremely cold and rainy we would have explored a lot more.
Parking was a breeze thanks to other Unilocalers. There’s a parking lot directly across from the hotel. Don’t park there. Park in the garage that’s beside the lot. It’s $ 4 each time you exit the garage. If you choose the valet at the hotel, they’re going to park in the same garage for $ 22.
The room was nice. Some other reviewers said it was dated but it had everything we needed. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We were on the 5^th floor that faced Lamar St. I didn’t notice any noise issues. The Wi-​Fi worked good as well.
The staff was excellent. They were very nice and helpful.
We’ll stay here again.

I would give 5 stars but the only down fall is that there isn’t any room service. && On top of that we couldnt find an ice machine on our floor. That sucks considering there isn’t a restaurant to eat at and the hotel’s breakfast is 7am-​10am.
We stayed here for Lights All Night at the Dallas convention center and was pleasantly within 1 mile and they had a really great deal for buying in advance. The hotel was about $ 250 for 2 nights, free Wi-​Fi, and free breakfast. However, we didn’t stay awake/​wake up early to try the breakfast. The walk to the convention center was freezing for us Austin, TX folks this time of year lol. However, there were cabs and A FEW tricycles to catch.
The beds were SOOOOO comfty and the rooms were nice and clean. I think it was the best sleep I got a long time.
The snack bar downstairs has munchies and microwaveable food. This saved us plenty of time and money! hoorayyyy! OUR room had a cool modern /​retro spin on a couch. && The rooms mini fridge wasn’t filled with drinks, the microwave was aight, and I liked the décor.

What a terrible experience. We stayed at SpringHill Suites while in Dallas for one evening. I valeted my new 2015 vehicle with the hotel’s valet service and when I got it back there was a large dent and scratches on the back bumper. The hotel showed zero interest, though this was the valet company they chose to represent them. The hotel manager never returned my phone calls and has remained unavailable. Though it was not their fault, a bit of customer service would have been nice. Also, I’d like them to know what type of company they have chosen to represent their hotel.
Advantage Valet, said valet company, would not provide me with the name of their insurer and has tried to deny all claims. What a horrible experience all the way around.

Came here for business and arrived late, but the valet guy was most helpful and friendly. The front desk girls (evening and morning) were also very friendly and professional! Price for the size of the room is great. Location to walking distance restaurants and bars also great. Easy access to the freeway too. Worth a revisit.

This place was good. Nothing spectacular, but what you’d expect from a chain like Marriott. Could use some minor upgrades here and there, but really nothing major. Staff was good, again could use a little extra training here and there as well. Overall good stay.

I arrived on an early flight and thought I would just ask for them to hold my luggage. Surprisingly they had a room on the top floor available. I prefer the top floor as I feel it reduces noise. I was checked in and in my room by 930am!
Neighborhood: it was a very sketchy area. Walked to the metro on the first morning and was offered drugs and saw a prostitute offering her services. Never felt comfortable going out at night by myself.
Noise: as previously mentioned, I was on the top floor and I felt the noise was minimal. Not sure what it was like below me.
Front desk staff: Warm, welcoming, helpful. Couldn’t be happier with their service. Only problem — they were out of body lotion and I forgot mine at home. Easily remedied with a trip to the CVS two blocks away but still odd that they were had none in the hotel. Who forgot to order it?
Room: spacious and well lit. I felt the ac, which never turned off and was very noisy, was a big negative. I thought the cleanliness level could have been brought up a notch, especially the bathroom.
Pool: tiny second floor pool. I didn’t swim but I cannot imagine more than a few people in there. It is really tiny. But you have to go through the fitness room to get there too, which I saw was uncomfortable for families with small children as they were walking by the people using free weights.
Fitness room: two treadmills, one elliptical, one bike, one bench with free weights. I went after the morning rush but if I had somewhere to be, I would have been mad about the lack of equipment.
Breakfast: options were hot scrambled eggs, sausages, hard boiled eggs, fruit choices, many baked goods, cold cuts and cheese as well as yogurt. Good selection but closed at 9am on weekdays. I understand that many people are there on business and might be done by 9am but I was not there for business and wished it was open as it is in the weekends, until 10am.
Internet: no issues.
I would probably not return because of the loud ac, the poor cleanliness in the bathroom, the tiny pool and fitness room, and the sketchy area.

Staff are nice yet for a Marriott Group hotel I would expect a tad more when it comes to cleanliness. See photos of mold growing on air conditioner.
It is a very convenient location for access to downtown with Main Street in walking distance.

I am a Marriott Platinum member (75 night plus a year) and they still have my room away. I was given a smaller bed and nasty room located directly in front of the elevator. The was uncomfortable and I was awakened several times by the «ding»

Debating my loyalty. (395 nights in the last 5 years) after this stay. The front desk basically said oh well…

Stayed here for a convention. Hotel is located in a modern building on the west end surrounded by A nice mix of shopping, restaurants and night spots. Only half a block from the Dallas aquarium. A nice ¾ mile walk to the Hyatt, Omni, and convention center. A little far to walk to events at the Sheridan and Marriott.
My room was more than adequate for my needs. Bedspread was nice but I would love a little softer mattress. The towels were ok but could be better. Only issue i had was the clock radio in the room does not work right. Walls are thin enough though you can hear a toilet flush in a nearby room at night.
The pool is a joke don’t think of coming here if you need a pool for laps. It is 1 stroke in length never saw anyone use the pool during my visit.
The staff was wonderful during my stay. One of the better continental breakfasts for hotels like this. Most of the food was of good quality the only exception was the pineapple chunks put out one day had an off taste.
I would recommend the hotel.

This was the meeting spot for the Kanye West show. After we survived the trip from The Colony to downtown… we arrived to our hotel.
You can either valet for 20 bucks… or park in a lot across the street for 5. Us being smart with our money… we parked across the street. The hotel is right across the street from the Dallas Aquarium, in the heart of the West End. Great location. The rooms are pretty nice. My friend has a ton of points, so she used them to book us a sweet suite. We were on the top floor with not much of a view… but we didnt care. We were there to sleep so we wouldnt be out on the icy roads after having a few drinks.
The front desk was nice… they took pictures for us before we went to the show. The room was spacious. The beds were small… and my best friend almost kicked me out of bed… kinda funny. We didnt get the room with the 2 queen beds… but the 2 full size beds. We also had a living room area with a couch. The only complaint we had was the heating/​AC unit was extremely loud!!! We didnt sleep very well because of that. I am not going to base that experience because of one room’s faulty AC unit. There was a nice free breakfast on the 2^nd floor. It was comfortable and cozy at the breakfast bar.
Bottom line — nice place to stay… near everything… nice staff.

Probably the worst and most poorly managed Marriott I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in quite a few (I’m a Gold member). If it weren’t for the fact that we were visiting the new Perot Museum of Nature and Science the next day, we would have chosen a different hotel and location.
The front desk staff was meh, and apparently did not comprehend what a room «far from the elevators» meant, as the person gave me a room exactly adjacent to an elevator. When I returned to the front desk for a different room, they acted as if I were bothering them. The street noise was also very noticable from our 9^th floor room, and the walls were quite thin. If I had paid cash to stay here instead of using points, I would have been even more disappointed.
The hotel parking is compulsory valet service, for about $ 22/​day. We used the public lot a block away for $ 8/​night, which was fine. Note the $ 5 lot directly across the street from the hotel is NOT for overnight parking.
A side (but important) note on the location: It’s been years since I’ve visited the Dallas West End, so I didn’t realize how run down and ghetto this once great dining/​entertainment district has become. I would not recommend staying here if you are traveling as a family with young children. Our main reason for staying here was for the short (10 min) walk to the museum, but the nearby restaurants are very touristy, overpriced and crowded, and certainly not the best that downtown Dallas has to offer. We tried taking a short walk a few blocks away from the hotel, but things go downhill pretty fast when you get right outside of the main restaurant/​entertainment strip. Next time we’ll probably stay in or near Uptown, which is a much nicer area.

It was ok. They were re-​doing the lobby when we were there so it sorta was a bummer to have that and not be notified.
Other than that it is in a good location and you shouldn’t be too worried if you get stuck here with hotwire.

Not impressed. This is the oldest and awkward Marriott I have visited. I’m pretty sure the mini-​fridge was older than me! They are currently remodeling, which is needed. We were going a little cheaper than normal and this is on the low end of quality of Marriott. We can get over the looks of the hotel, as long as the bed is big and comfy were good.
The service is what really made this visit go downhill. The reservation package we picked included 2 tickets to the Sixth Floor Museum and valet parking at the hotel. It was a good deal because it would have saved us $ 40.
Apparently the hotel had no idea this package was available, even though we booked through
. We spent 20 minutes having to convince the staff at the hotel that we were suppose to pick up our museum tickets from them. Well the hotel didn’t have any so the manager drove us over to the museum and he was just going to buy them there and hand them over. No problem unless we decided to go to the Museum on the worst weekend ever! It was the anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination and Thanksgiving weekend. It was a hour and a half wait to purchase tickets. Which we had to wait in the line ourselves while the hotel manager went back to the hotel. He showed back up an hour into our waiting in line.
To top it off even though we went through everything with the Museum tickets the hotel still didn’t fix the rest of our package. We get our bill the morning were leaving and we have extra charges for valet parking. An extra $ 45 mistake tacked on did not make me happy with this stay to say the least. The manager wasn’t there, so I have to called the hotel to get this refunded!

Stayed here for two nights as part of a block of rooms for a friend’s wedding. Neither of the requests my bf — a Marriott rewards member — put in were fulfilled (high floor and king bed, we got 4^th floor and two doubles), but we took extremely early flights into Dallas, and appreciated that they had a room ready for us at 9:30am. The room itself was fine so we decided not to make a thing out of it.
The free internet is serviceable, free breakfast is pretty substantial, and it even has a texas-​shaped waffle iron. Speaking of irons, the one in our room was broken but someone brought up a working one very quickly. There’s lots of food and conveniences within walking distance. I was impressed that the 10^th floor bridal suite’s air conditioner could keep up with 8 – 10 of us in there at a time getting ready. The valet parking setup is awkward but friendly. Nothing special.

Decent enough location and shuttle (7a-​7p) to downtown area is a plus; everything else is a MINUS!
First off even though my profile lists a request on a high floor and away from elevators, they put me in room 219.
That has to be the worst room in the hotel: it’s right next to the elevator and just outside the breakfast area. Are you kidding me? Nice to see that is how they treat Marriott Gold members.
The rooms are dated and the washroom is cramped.
Unless you have to stay here, I would suggest picking another hotel in the area.
