Can I just say, lovely deep tissue massage. I was fortunate to have the same massage therapist from last time and how lucky was I that Paulo could find time for me. After a hard week of sxsw, I needed some detoxing and muscle reparative time. I came out of the spa feeling rejuvenated and very relaxed.

Unlike the gym and the trainers at the gym, the Spa at Equinox on Oak Lawn leaves much to be desired. Each of my last 4 – 5 appointments have been progressively worse. Consistent issues include a front desk staff that barely seems to communicate with the spa employees who will actually deliver the booked services — you believe you’ve booked an appointment for xyz services, but arrive for day of service to learn that the person with whom you have an appointment was booked — and only has time for — a fraction of the time and had no idea why you were coming in. Despite the promises and empty officious promises of Front Desk staff, neither of them communicated with the person re the services you requested. Also, not a single employee there has missed an opportunity to share their aspirations of «finding a better paying job elsewhere» — during your booked appointment. Also, no one misses a beat talking about their issues with the Front Desk staff, lack of respect for the spa manager, and their desire to be somewhere better. From the scheduling errors, to the unhappy spa staff, to the actual service being consumed with hearing about the individual’s great career aspirations elsewhere — it’s a very disappointing, premium priced spa experience that’s far from a relaxing or satisfactory experience. Again, this is a 180 degree contradictory experience from dealing with the gym and the trainers. Truly surprising how consistently poor the spa experience has been.

The Spa at Equinox is quite the hidden gem. Many people know of the gym at Equinox on Oak Lawn, but few take advantage of the fantastic spa. The best part is that you don’t have to be a memeber of the gym to get a spa service. I got tired of the pedi situation at Nail Bar after all the best girls left. So, I decided to splurge and check out the Spa at Equinox after the girl at Spa Habitat(another great spa… they just don’t do nail services) told me that Equinox had a fantastic pedi. So…I booked the pedi and, when I arrived, much to my delight, I was booked with one of my favorite girls from Nail Bar! How’s that for coincidence?!? Vivienne is the sweetest thing and shes does a great pedi. It’s worth the money every time in my opinion. The best thing about the pedis at equinox is the room! It’s totally private, dimly lit, and they pipe in great spa music. It’s the ultimate spa pedi experience! (Tip: you save 15% on your next pedi when you schedule it at check out) Enjoy!
