I want to keep this short and simple. I’m a transgender who went into the males bathroom because I felt comfortable in doing so. I’m from South Louisiana and my two cousin are very new to my transition from a female to a male. I was humiliated by one of the staff members when they opened the stall on me and told me to leave because I was a «female.» I tried to explain my situation but he refused to listen. My cousins, of course attempted to stand up for me but failed miserably as I was escorted out. I’ve never felt so low and embarrassed before in my life. I’m so saddened that this kind of act would happen in a community that I thought would support me. I honestly can’t put into words how much pain that guy put me through in front of my family.

Always have a great time at the Round Up! Fun crowd, great staff and great music. And their free dance lessons are awesome!

No other bar like this around – seriously! Great time, but it does get crowded so come with a positive attitude and ready to hit the dance floor. It’s country music before midnight and then dance/top 40 music throughout. Please stick around long enough to catch the line dances. If you’re like me and want to learn the dances, checkout their schedule for lessons given Tuesday-Thursdays. Wear your comfy shoes! Parking on the strip is tricky, so I always take Lyft.

I have been coming here for years but recently had a bad experience with a bouncer that was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. Just a bully pushing his weight around because he could. I sent an email to the management and they didn’t care enough to respond. I haven’t been back and have no intention of going back. I’m sure they make so much money they can afford to lose a few along the way.

The DJ is great until you ask him to play Whitney Houston. You would think you would have asked him to shit in his underwear. He will make your life terrible if you ask him to play ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’.

Round-Up Saloon is a great gay bar in the Cedar Springs district of Dallas. It is one of my favorites. They have a variety for everyone. It is technically a country/western dance bar, but they also offer karaōke, pool, occasional live entertainment, a rooftop patio with the uptown skyline behind, and a cigar/cigarette patio with an outoodr bar. The place is known for hosting several charity events, which help the city of Dallas and the LGBT community. The bar just celebrated 35 years, so it’s not going anywhere — plus, the people love it! Be sure to check it out. There is a large parking lot behind the building.

I danced my butt off here in a Sunday 80s night. Great music, nice looking crowd. A point off not for the establishment but for the attitude. Wassup, gay Dallas? Would it kill you to smile at a stranger? I’m not exactly a troll, and I tried really hard to be friendly and open so that maybe I could meet some nice people. So many walls were up! Finally connected with a couple delightful guys who weren’t so stone faced. Anyhow, I digress. Nice bar.

Fun place to sing, where the audience all cheer you on. This is a GLTB location so be prepared. I’m not gay, but love to sing and enjoy a lively, appreciable audience, however. So I like to come here when I am in Dallas and just sing, listen and drink my diet cokes, while writing Unilocal reviews and checking emails! I think there’s karaōke sung here six nights a week. Some serious singers show up and if you are intimidated by great singing, you might want to just sit and listen. But if you enjoy singing and you got a good set of pipes, you will enjoy the elevated stage, sound system and audience participation and applause! Credit cards are welcome. Karaōke in Texas is typical country music, mostly. If you have a twang in your voice, you’ll fit in. I like singing Elton John songs, so while I don’t sing country music, I fit in with EJ songs just the same. 3 stars out of 5 because it’s not super, not bad. It’s a fun place to go. Tell me what you think?

What can I say about this place? Straight awesomeness. Well, not straight, but still awesome! and place a karaōke bar in it too… Get out! Only issue is that if you are straight and Asian, expect to be hit on pretty hard.

Country music and pop music arranged in a country style played by dj attracted attention of many gay dancers. I like most the part when men started to dance together as a show. Drinks are good, nothing special but my experience was so bad at the beginning of my visit in Dallas then now a normal drink is nice. The atmosphere is unique because of the dance floor placed in the middle of the club.

I’ve been a regular at Round Up for eight years and it is probably the only gay bar in Dallas that I find interesting. I do have to complain, however, about the manners of one of their bouncers recently(who I won’t name here because I am disappointed, not spiteful.) I understand entirely the need to clear the bar at closing time each night. However, there is no need for approaching your customers in a brusque manner. I’m habitually polite and soft-spoken 30-something professor who just likes an occasional drink out with friends. I’m never belligerent, hostile or ill-mannered. It is just not in my nature. Nevertheless, as I was finishing the last few sips of a beer(and it was only, at most 2:02AM as this was happening), this bouncer barked«You have to go now.» I replied, «Just about done here.» To which he barked even louder«No, you have to go.» I muttered quietly(I thought) to my friend«That’s a little rude» which was overheard, but instead of recognizing it as a private comment between me and my friend, the barking gets louder and more snide.(The exact words were immemorable.) Lets just point out two basic things here(1) Sometimes its not what you say, but how you say it that matters. And immediately launching at your customers with an aggressive attitude is not only bad manners, but simply unnecessarily.(2) We paided you for our drinks. A couple minutes leeway for us to finish consuming the product that is paying your wages is probably in order — unless we are really lingering way past closing time. Some context here: This was also the end of the night in which the GLBT community around the nation was celebrating the Supreme Court gay marriage victory. Is it really appropriate to end the night by disrespecting those of us who were out celebrating that major historic event? A better approach? How about«Hey guys, we’ve got to close up now, can you finish up quickly?» A good rule to live by might be: if you aren’t talking to your customers in the same way you’d treat your family members or friends, then something is wrong.

Until last night this was the best. An overworked and downright rude bouncer on the patio changed that. If you hate your job that much than just quit.

So the drinks are mediocre, the bar tender literally poured for 1 second, terrible drinks, bad customer service and over priced…

Come here every other week or so. Seems a bit slower on the weekdays, but I come here pretty often for karaōke and it’s always packed! Fun place and friendly crowd. :)

I’ve been going to this bar for over 20 years, I love to 2 step and socialize with my friends but over the years the whole scene in this bar has changed drastically. While I realize that you have to cater to the crowd to make money, they have taken a lot of liberties to make it too clickish. From expensive renovations that make it look more a dance bar than a country bar to adding more and more drag shows and benefits. It seems like the people that manage this bar would rather it be a dance bar like Studio 4 than a country bar. I’ve already heard one of the lame night managers mentioning that he’d like to see it that way. Both owners who are very sweet men in their twilight years will no doubt retire before long and I think if they sell it to the wrong people or person, you can say good bye to the Roundup as a country bar.

I love this place. Not only is the staff friendly and the dance floor fun(and a nice change from the thumpa thumba) but the Round-Up saloon is always involved in community events. They even open their doors to the community for a home cooked meal on thanksgiving day and provide live entertainers at no cost. Each time I go to this bar, I am reminded of the small town bar atmosphere in the big city. It’s a must if you are in Dallas or just visiting. Great drinks, friendly staff, variety of things to do!

Definitely love this place when it’s packed! They always keep enough bars open that the waits aren’t 20+ minutes which isn’t true at the other bars/clubs on Cedar Springs! Also, the drink prices here are the BEST and they still play good music. Friends and I just recently had a blast ALLNIGHT during the Oaklawn Halloween Party and I was shocked that I had never left a review of this play. No matter where we end up the night on Cedar Springs, we pretty much always start out at Round Up for the great prices, the awesome top deck area out back, and the ability to hang out and actually hear each other in the back bar. A definite must-stop here!

I lost my Fitbit today and realized after 2am. While other closed businesses either let me look or looked for me, management here was unhelpful and turned security on me. The security guard then treated me as though I had been unreasonable and no business here. Unfortunately, of course my property is lost for good no matter who helped. It is clear last night’s manager provides no customer service when they patrons cannot spend money. Had the manager took 45 seconds to step in and even pretend to look for me, or if he had been nice, this would’ve ended differently for Round Up as I am a stickler for customer service. While I likely cannot stop coming here, I will no longer be spending my money here. If you’re just looking for a bar to serve you drinks, great. If you’re looking for a bar with people that actually care, go elsewhere.
