Everything I’ve gotten at this restaurant has been really good. I don’t think they have the buffet at all anymore, but when they did I was very impressed by the quality of the sushi they had on the buffet. Buffet sushi is almost always unimpressive, but theirs was delicious and they had a good variety. Now I usually order one or two items from the Daily Special menu; a smaller but not too small portion without any extras(other than steamed rice in some cases) for only $ 2.99. I especially like their yakisoba. Staff has been nice in my experience, and they don’t bother you a lot like in most restaurants.

A caveat to this review is that Red Chopstick opened very recently, so it could very well be that they’re trying to figure out what works. That being said, I was underwhelmed. We visited for the lunch buffet($ 7.99) which included sushi, soup, salad, chopped carrots and celery, gyoza, garlic chicken, beef and broccoli, kimchi, Korean BBQ chicken and beef, soba noodles, fried shrimp and fried chicken drummets. Overall, it was somewhat bland and a bit on the dry side from sitting on the buffet warmers. None of it was very original or exciting. The owners were very nice and welcoming, although I would suggest they keep their comments as neutral as possible. The male owner told another table that men shouldn’t clean the house because in «oriental culture»(his words, not mine) women were supposed to do all of that, and change all of the«baby diapers» too. Kind of strange comments for lunch, methinks. Dallas has a population of 15,000 and we now have 6 Asian restaurants. I’m not entirely sure why we have so many for such a relatively small town, but any new restaurant that is trying to carve out a niche should really work on developing a few really amazing dishes that truly stand out. Right now, Red Chopstick is just barely passable sushi and bland generic Asian food that can be found at pretty much all of the other Asian restaurants in town. I really love the idea of Korean food and have enjoyed some of the fantastic Korean fusion at the Portland food carts. Red Chopstick has a long way to go if they want to stick around.

Wow! It got more than 1 star by the person before me?! Are they friends of the owners? I would hope the owners succeed as the previous business venture they tried(Burger n Basket) failed– as it should have… but I don’t think this one was any better. I went at lunch and had lukewarm buffet, no flavor anywhere. Kimchi in a jar is better than here, the owners tried hard as far as friendliness and service but for ½ the price I will return to Hong Kong a couple buildings away, get even better food, service, price… and bring ½ my food home for the following day:)

My husband and I stumbled upon this place. We arrived during lunch when they had a lunch buffet. I have a very close friend, who is part Korean, and she makes amazing food for me. This place reminds me of her food! The kimchi was delicious. The pulgogi, both pork and beef, were amazing. It is a small town Korean restaurant. While there I overheard two men talking about, «the war» and being abroad and how this food was just like when they were there. It was just good — the service was really friendly. I will be back, over and over again!
