I’ll preface this review by saying that I’m pretty new to Pilates. I attend a studio in my home town but wanted to keep up with my routine while on vacation so I found Personal Pilates Plus online. They were close to my hotel so I sent them an email request for a one on one appointment. They responded promptly and set up a time. Amazingly they didn’t ask for a credit card to hold the appointment. Hopefully that kind of trust in others hasn’t hurt their business. It impressed me, especially since I’m a new client from out of town. When I arrived I met Dorothy, the owner, and my instructor Vicki. Both were genuinely friendly and interested in my Pilates background, meager as it is. Vicki showed me around the studio. It is not large but it is very tidy, modern looking and well laid out. It definitely looks geared towards one on one training however I did see a space for mat classes. I don’t throw praise around lightly. Vicki was an awesome instructor. My hometown Pilates studio only has a reformer, not other types of equipment. Vicki was very patient while she explained the new equipment/movements to me(sometimes several times) and handled my poor flexibility well by suggesting modifications when needed. I did feel that she pushed me appropriately. By the end of the hour I was sweating and silently cursing my tight hamstrings. I was sore for days afterwards, but a good sore, not a «why did I pay for this agony» sore. I even received a follow up email from Dorothy which was a nice personal touch. In summary, it was fun to train in a well equipped, modern Pilates studio with an upbeat, well-trained instructor who is passionate about her work rather than someone just going through the motions. Prices for one on one training are not inexpensive, but they did say they offer a discount on a package(not helpful to me at this time). It seems to me like this is a circumstance where you get what you pay for. Definitely recommend.
