I’ll start off by saying I guess my expectations are too high when it comes to Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches. All I’m looking for is a decent Italian beef sandwich somewhere here in the Dallas area. I stopped by OWSC for lunch one day a couple of months ago, maybe it was due to the fact that they were remodeling or maybe it’s just me. But… I ordered Italian beef sandwich with all the fixings, wet. What I got was a really good roast beef sandwich with oregano seasoning and green bell peppers, not Italian sweet peppers, and no giardiniera. Needless to say I wasn’t happy with my sandwich. But on the bright side, my coworker ordered a Chicago style hot dog. And that looked really good and according to him, tasted good. He’s also is from Chicago, I let him try a portion of my sandwich and he give it a thumbs down also. I have since been back a few times, but I haven’t even thought about trying the Italian beef again. The Chicago Hot Dog was truly good. But again it was missing a few ingredients like celery salt, but that’s ok. Likewise I’ve tried the Polish Sausage, close, but not close enough. I have to admit I haven’t tried any of the deli sandwiches, which seem to get good reviews, maybe on a future visit. But as far as the Chicago style sandwiches, stick with the Hot Dog and omit the Italian beef and Polish sausage if you’re expecting true Chicago sandwiches.

I love hot dogs and lived in the Chicago area for over 30 years — and«Chicago Dogs» are the best! So, when I heard of Old World Sausage Company, I couldn’t wait to get there; but, nonetheless, had to wait about 6 months. Saturday, 1÷25÷14 was the day! Without hesitation, I ordered two Chicago dogs(and, I think I was sweating with anticipation while they were being prepared). When they were ready, I ran to a table and stuffed the first dog into my mouth for a bite — and, yes, I got neon green relish and mustard all over my fingers while my mouth tried to remember how to circumnavigate this succulent goodness. Absolutely wonderful! But, no celery or seasoning salt as mentioned by another reviewer. To be fair, however, not all Chicago dogs in Chicago have this added goodness. I think that I can ditto all of the(good!) things said by others. Certainly the best hot dog I’ve had in the Dallas area. So, why three stars? The hot dog couldn’t be any better. But, c’mon, we’re talking hot dogs… in a shed… at a farmers’ market. I’ll be back!

I just love the Farmers Market and eating here was a great treat. I had the Mortadella sandwich and it was phenomenal. Not a bologna fan but the owner gave me a sample and I could not NOT get that sandwich. Will definitely come by here again when I get back down that way and try one of their Chicago Dogs!

I discovered OWSC after deciding that I’d starve to death waiting in line for Pecan Lodge. Yeah, I didn’t plan properly for BBQ that day. This is the spot I’ve been lookin for since moving to Dallas almost a year ago. My stomach wanted one of everything off the menu. But my brain picked the italian beef sandwich to eat there. And an open-faced, beef and sausage sandwich to go. I received friendly, attentive service from the owners and employees. And fresh, great-tasting beef at very reasonable prices. The cole slaw was good too. I’ll be back to try some of their other sandwiches.

Of my many trips to DFM, I have never tried Old World Sausage although I am a hard core sausage lover. They were handing out samples of their polish sausage. It was juicy, tasty and a little spicy, just up my alley. I decided to get the full experience and order their polish sausage sandwich with everything. The friendly staff delivered to my table and it looked awesome. Unfortunately, things went downhill immediately once I started eating it. The bread was all wrong. it was too thick and way too tough. You should not have to yank, pull and tear your bread to get a bite. This method caused all the fixins to come off the sandwich, while also making it difficult to enjoy what was otherwise a delicious piece of meat. I was bummed I did not get to enjoy the sandwich the way it was meant to be.

Iced tea with no refill unless you get food. Asked if I could get refill if I bought a couple cookies and was told«if I wanted to pay $ 7 for a cookie» then was charged $ 3.25 for ice tea. Ouch.

I’ll be the one to say it. I HATE Russian dressing. I know it’s part of a traditional reuben, so I’m always asking for my reubens without it. For once I didn’t have to! They put a delicious horseradish type sauce on it. Amazing! In my book it was definitely«The Best Reuben». The wait can get long on Saturdays when the farmers market is crowded, but if you have the time, it’s worth the wait. I’m a huge fan of this place.

Located in the Dallas Food Market and is a little out of the way BUT. is worth making the effort. As crazy as it sounds. I had a simple Turkey, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich here. It was out of this world! The best Turkey sandwich ever. All the ingredients were outstanding and fresh. The bread was wonderful. I live in North Dallas and if I have a craving to have a great Turkey sandwich, I’d would now hop in the car and drive the 10 miles to Old World Sausage to get it. PS .Also noticed Guy Fieri of the Food Channel made a visit to the place… no surprise In short… A GREAT Deli place

Great coleslaw, lemonade, and Italian beef. I finally have made it back to Shed two after its revamping/reopening. Old World Sausage is a great deli that serves your every need. All the sandwiches are delicious. My favorite of all time is the Italian beef! It is the most delicious Italian beef I’ve had in Dallas so far. There is a little sitting area they have established which is a great place to dine at and when the weather is nice out there are tables outside for your enjoyment.

I stole a bite of their Italian sausage sandwich – and from that single bite I deemed it fantastic. I loved the taste of their house-made, coarse-grind sausage with a good balance of Italian seasonings; smothered with green peppers and onions and tucked inside a crusty sub… amazingly good. On my next visit, I plan on partaking of their beef and sausage combo – I don’t expect anything less than outstanding. Great, friendly service; it was a delight to find that the folks at this sausage company took pride in their meats.

Best deli in DFW! I am a Rueben fan and it is amazing here, but I try something new every time and every time it surpasses expectations. Not to mention, the price is ridiculously cheap, especially for this area.

You know — it was really good… but I certainly wouldn’t label it «The Best Reuben». The staff was great — very helpful in warning us how large the sandwich was! It’s a great place for a quick bite when you’re down in the Farmers Market.

I’m reviewing the meats for grilling. We’ve bought the brats and smoked sausage, and grilled them several times. Great value, really well made and worth the drive.

We came here for lunch since we thought it’d be kind of cool to look around the Farmer’s Market and see what they had. Too bad it was over 100degrees outside, we decided to do that another time(hehe)…but we still wanted some good food so we made our way to this spot. As we walked into Shed #2, this place is on your right, conveniently located at the very front. They had a display of their meats and a smaller display located next to the cash register of some of their specialties. The hot dog definitely looked good so we had to try one of those! We also got a roast beef sandwich with chips and a polish sausage sandwich with pasta salad. I agree with the others that the pasta salad is awesome! Nice and light and perfect tasting — and the polish sausage is delicious too! It had a little bit of spunk to it so that made it taste even better. The roast beef sandwich was good, not sooo great that it’s the best ever, but it’s pretty good~ nothing to complain about. I also like how they have cute tables set up in front of their stand. They keep it very clean and they bring the food to your table — excellent service and service was with a smile on our visit(hooray!) I’ll definitely come back :)

Pastrami is piled almost 2 inches high. And the cole slaw is not a side, it’s a dessert. It’s that smooth. My favorite is the sausages, though. This is not a deli it’s a butcher shop with a menu.

This place is my weekend ritual. All of their sausages are amazing, except I’m not crazy about the Italian sausage. The jalapeño cheese and polish sausages are the best! They also have a pasta salad that’s to die for, and you won’t find pasta salad like it anywhere else. I tried to get the recipe, which consists of penne pasta, olive oil, olives, garlic, parsley, and a secret ingredient. I love getting their chicken salad plate– it’s so fresh and delicious. Two people can eat here with drinks for $ 15, and it’s better than any other place in its category. I also like to take home different sausages which are 7.99/lb. Love, love, love it!

Okay, so I gave it five stars even though I’ve only eaten here once, but I was so floored by the quality of the food that I couldn’t give it any less. I had been spending my lunch break wandering around the farmers’ market and was ready to decide on something to eat. It was too hot for BBQ and a deli sandwich sounded good, so I tried out the«Chicago Style» deli. Awesome choice! You can get a reuben and cole slaw or chips for less than $ 7. The reuben is a two-mealer for me, and since it’s served open-faced, it is super easy to eat one half and save the other for later. Both halves had a swipe of 1000 island, were piled high with fresh, delicious corned beef and fluffy sauerkraut, then topped with melted swiss. The horsey sauce they gave me on the side had a great bite, with this incredible light and creamy texture. and the cole slaw?! the cole slaw is a stroke of genius. it’s like they took phenomenal cole slaw, THEN added a few key ingredients to take it to the next level. there are dried cranberries and cheese in this cole slaw y’all! obviously, i just finished eating a few minutes ago, which is why i’m totally raving in this review. the counter service was very friendly and quick as well. i will for sure be back very very soon to try one of their many dogs!(which also looked amazing)

I have been here in Dallas for 21 years and have looked for a place that I can really get that homesick feeling to go away with a Hot Italian beef or a Vienna hot dog that has been dragged through the garden. WOOHOO! Now I have been transported back home with a closing of my eyes and a mouthfull of Italain beef so tender that you you think you are in your mothers arms. The Vienna hot dogs click when you bite them. The giardiniere is a good compliment to the beef. they have full array of Chicago fare to taste including Hot Italian and Polish sausage as well. The prices are moderate to being the best bang for the buck. Al and Adrienne a very friendly couple of youse guyz that have a gold mine there at shed#2 at the Farmers Market. This couple are former Chicago patriots that decided to start their own restaurant and they made this into a eatery that I will coming to for many years to come.
