Surprising good. General tso chicken is actually crispy and a little spicy. I would recommend it.

I’ve been coming here since my broke days in college — post midnight it seems. I’m not exactly sure what the owner’s name is til this day — but we like to call him Big Wong. He always seems to greet us with a huge smile and the words«HEYMYFRIEND!» This guys is awesome! The food here is not exactly the most amazing or high quality, fancy shmancy, but after a night of drinking, the chicken fried rice here will blow your mind. If there is a huge crowd here, be prepared to wait.

If u need a quick fix for Chinese this place is adequate. General tso was ok and curry fried rice was VERY salty. Nothing to get excited about.

I chose this place based on the reviews here on Unilocal.I was on my way home from Richardson on a Saturday evening around 7 pm. Lower Greenville was already hopping for a Saturday night but this place was almost deserted. I was greeted by a very nice man at the door and offered a menu when I said I wanted to order to go. After reading all these great reviews, especially the garlic chicken, I couldn’t find half of the things in the reviews on the menu. I ordered a curry rice noodle dish with chicken, which I asked for it to be mild. It was quite spicy but it was very good even at that spice level. I really liked the flavors. It was kind of funny because the menu indicates you choose your meat to put into whatever dish you choose, which I like. I asked him for chicken, he said«Oh no that come with pork & shrimp» I said I don’t eat pork or shrimp. He said, «OK we make with chicken» Kind of funny. The food was cooked quickly and even after the 6 mile drive home it was still hot. It was a little on the pricey side, but considering the size of the portions I made two meals out of it so it wasn’t terribly bad. I was not able to eat all of it in one sitting, I had the rest for lunch next day. I will be returning! The only thing I found negative about the place was that when I first walked in it smelled like disinfectant, which I suppose can be a good sign, but it was hard to smell the food. It also had a yeasty undertone to the smell as if they were disinfecting pizza. I also noticed after I ordered that they had paper menus that you could take home and they were totally different than the one you get when you come into the restaurant. I thought that rather odd and there were things I would have chosen on that menu instead of what I did order. What I did have was delicious and I am glad I had it because it was the kind of noodles I loved when I visited San Francisco years ago and never have found a Chinese Restaurant that served them.

First time eating here as well as my last time. They appear short staffed but I’m not going to let that be an excuse. We waited 15 minutes to order. The food came out one item at a time over a course of 30 minutes(entre, app, app, entre, etc.). They served my meal to my buddy(same guy who took our order) and after he ate half of it(10 minutes later) they served me his. None of us have eaten here before so we had no way of knowing they were wrong until I got his. It was full of things I didn’t like so I asked them to replace it with what I ordered and they refused. They told me to just try it and that it was our fault. No way. We also had to constantly remind them what we ordered since they failed to bring much of it out. The food was decent and that is the only reason I’m not giving 1 star. Worst service I’ve had in several years.

New Big Wong ran out of the food we ordered and didn’t bother to tell us until we had sat in the waiting area for more than ten minutes(about an hour after we ordered). They took my phone number with the order, but neglected to call, or even tell us when we arrived to wait for our food. I guess I was supposed to sit and wait until they prepared the replacement too. And pay full price for the privilege. So, for wasting my time and leaving me hungry, unlike New Big Wong, I am delivering a 1-star review for free.

New Big Wong is an old stand-by for me. When the Whole Foods Market was still across the street back in 2003, I worked there. So needless to say, NBW was a frequent after work haunt for us. They’ve changed the menu a bit since those days, but everything is still pretty delicious. Also, about 18 months ago they remodeled the interior, and while now it’s not quite as private without the high-backed booths and not as hangover-friendly without the low LOW lighting, it’s much more modern and has a fresher feel. Now, I’m a Hot & Sour Soup connoisseur, and I judge every Chinese restaurant first on its version. New Big Wong is in my top 5. It’s near perfect. I also love their Cashew Chicken, Beef Flat Noodles, and Egg Rolls. Rich brown sauce, savory oyster sauce, tangy garlic sauce, and fresh vegetables keep this place on my go-to list even though now I’m not living as close by. This place isn’t a white tablecloth joint, but its prices are very fair and the food is tasty. Bonus: the owners of this place are super nice and have always been attentive and accommodating, especially with off-menu requests and substitutions. Plus, they’re still open mega late and the quality of the food doesn’t tank after normal dinner hours. Give it a try!

While their takeout/delivery menu is not up to date(any deals/prices listed are not to be trusted — the 4−8pm happy hour 15% discount for dine in and take out is no longer valid), the food was great, fresh, and relatively reasonably priced for the portions(not huge). They have a large dining room, but since they offer both take away and delivery service, it’s pretty empty in there most of the time. Service is friendly and the place appears to be family run, which is always nice to support. We had the bean curd soup, which has vegetables(broccoli, snow peas, cabbage, carrots) and bean curd(tofu) cubes in a light broth. It was delicious with the red pepper oil that accompanies it, and it was a huge dine in portion for just under $ 5. We also shared the garlic sauce chicken, which comes with chicken slices(non breaded), broccoli, carrots, water chestnut slices, bamboo shoots, and some kind of dried red peppers, as well as a chicken egg foo young, which comes with a brown sauce you can pour over the top. The two entrees and soup were sufficient food for three people, though I could certainly have eaten more(perhaps because it was delicious, or perhaps because I had only eaten a few cups of green beans that day). The dine in menu states that there is an upcharge of $ 2 per shared plate/person, so we likely were subject to that. I couldn’t tell if they would charge you $ 2 per item ordered if all people ordered their own entrée though. If that’s not the case it’s worth the extra dollar(if you have 3 in your party) to order another entrée and either have leftovers or leave full not having wasted $ 6 on air or plates or whatever the charge is for. They used to be open late, but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. There is lot parking in front of the little strip of shops they are in(shared with Subway, Dodie’s and a dry cleaner). It’s not fancy, but it’s solid chinese food, made by chinese folks. I didn’t see any wongs, new or old, big or small, while dining in, but maybe they deliver those.

Totally decent Chinese food. I didn’t have the highest expectations considering TX isn’t know for its Chinese food, but it reminded me of places back home in San Francisco. I only got the Sesame Beef and the Orange Chicken with rice. Both were incredible. I tried my boyfriends Lo Mein and combination rice and they both totally hit the spot as well. I would hit this place up anytime I’m craving Chinese food in Dallas.

I have been coming here since the year 2003 and have always had the same waiter. The food is great but there was nothing different from your regular Chinese food that would give it five stars.

I really hate giving one star reviews, and I feel especailly bad giving this one because its the only generic asian food place that delivers to me. Because they have the reputation of being notoriously slow, I decided to go pick up my order. «This is going to be fun!», I told myself. So, I got there and walked in. And, my friends, it was not fun. SO not fun. The place was dirty: the floors, the walls, the chairs, the tables, the cashier station. I’ve been back to places(not this one) where I found a bug in my food. But I will not be ordering again from New Big Wong. Sorry, guys — it just grossed me out.

I have ordered my Chinese food from here for years. The food is good. The restaurant is usually empty, so you can always get a table. I mostly do delivery or pickup. They deliver fast and if I pick up, it is always«10 minute ready!»

I ordered delivery. 2 hours later it’s still not here. Call the place to complain and cancel my order. «no no it not been 2 hours. driver already left. you wait more. he no have cell phone. i give you good deal» what a joke. make sure you pick it up. I just happened to be sick and didn’t feel like driving 5 minutes.

I gave this place two tries(delivery only), and despite EXTREMELYFAST(20 – 30 minutes) delivery, I won’t be calling again. The first time was the biggest failure. I think this was my fault for ordering the wrong thing, but when I saw shrimp with lobster sauce on their menu, it made me think of my favorite lunch combo at my favorite Chinese restaurant back in CA, and I had to give it a try. SUCH a disappointment! Their«lobster sauce» was honestly a vat of egg drop soup that they just dumped some overcooked shrimp in. GROSS. The second time I did a little better ordering-wise, but only marginally. We got the pan-fried noodles, which as a take-out item comes as a styrofoam container full of hard noodles and a separate container of sauce/meat/vegetables. So it was weird dumping the wet onto the dry and hoping that it turned out okay, which it did not. Maybe the pan-fried noodles are better if you dine in, but I don’t plan to find out. We also ordered the crispy duck, which was actually good! It was duck and it was crispy. Flavor was good. If someone forced me to get food from New Big Wong again, crispy duck is what I would order. Still looking for good Chinese in Dallas proper. Guess I’ll have to broaden my search north of 635 to be successful.

I’ve lamented that there hasn’t been a standard run-of-the-mill take out chinese food place that I felt comfortable enough to order from in Dallas-proper that isn’t a homonym for«Pay-Way» or an upscale asian-fusion-sushi joint. Thank goodness this New Big Wong came into my life. I judge my Chinese food places by their orange chicken. I know, you can judge me for that, the most unoriginal dish to order, but every place has it, and everyone does it differently. With that said, NB Wong hits the spot for me. Also, their spring rolls are crispy-budles of goodness. They aren’t reinventing dishes or food, but they provide a solid supply of reliable chinese food and take out, and for that, I’m ever in their debt.

Drove around the block about three times looking for this place. I’m not a resident of uptown or downtown so., The location is on the south side of Greenville ave on the far left side of the strip. After our visit to Pearl Cup the worker suggested me this place. Walked in and was greeted politely by a man, he always had a smile. From the outside the place looks small but inside the restaurant is pretty big. It wasn’t too busy but a lot did come in for carryout. The food was a ok not too greasy or salty. I ordered the Shredded Chicken with garlic sauce, the chicken isn’t shredded more like cut into small pieces. The meal comes with lots of veggies and my fav broccoli, This was one of the selections from the dinner special. The special comes with a small soup and egg roll, try the wonton soup. Overall experience was pretty good and the price was pretty cheap. A plus to those who live around. The restaurant closes at 3am! Look for NB Wong

This seems to be a great late night hot spot for the inebriated. At lunch time, stone cold sober– not so much. I will say the lunch specials are very inexpensive. For under $ 6 you can get a soup, egg roll, chicken wing, iced tea and an entrée. That’s a deal! I did happen to find the egg drop soup one of the best I have tasted in a while. It wasn’t over done with a bunch of stuff dumped in it– just egg and a few bites of corn. That’s just the way I like it. We went around 12:30 and there didn’t appear to be too big a crowd, and I needed to be out quickly so I thought it would be an in and out situation– not so much. The tea, soup, egg roll and chicken wing came out quickly. Then I waited… waited… and waited some more. Then my husband made a comment to me about the food taking so long to come out. At that point we saw an Asian woman who had been lurking nearby, pounce to the kitchen and yell in her native tongue to the people in the kitchen. I guess she over heard him. Well, our food came out pretty shortly after that, we ate and left. The food was just ok. The fortune cookie was stale.
