If you are ordering to go make sure and call ahead they make everything fresh so they take longer than usual I ordered the 4 piece tenders and 10 lemon pepper wings combos Togo and wait time was 15 minutes

Yessssssss! I drove around almost whole uptown area in search for some authentic fried chicken and I remembered that I was recommended to try Mike’s chicken. It’s definitely one of my most favorite things to consume out of all other different fancy options being offered. So Mike’s chicken is located right next to a laundry mat so you could kill two things with one stone or you could just enjoyed the golden crisped chicken seasoned to perfection. My first impressions of the store was that it was clean and small which means they must be putting more of an effort to cooking and flavoring of the chicken. I ordered the 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks which came with seasoned fries, Cole slaw, Texas toast with your choice of any fountain drinks for the total cost of $ 8.50. I couldn’t believe how much food I received at such a low cost. After taking my first bite, I felt as if I found one of my many purposes to be here in life lol! I am extremely impressed with my overall experience here. I cannot say anything else about this place to make it even better! I might have to switch from church’s chicken to Mike’s Chicken nowwwww! I loved every single thing about the food expect their own version of the hot sauce. I did prefer the generic hot sauce from a packet! Loveeeeeeeeee this place!!! Watch out Church’s chicken and Popeys, you’ve got some competition coming your way!

This place has the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had. I’ve been four or five times over the past two months, and they have been perfect each time: juicy chicken and perfectly crunchy breading. They even have some seasoning salt that gives the chicken express serendipity seasoning salt a run for its money.

Isn’t it weird when restaurants have mascots that are anthropomorphic versions of the food they sell, like, «Hey guys, I’m a chicken! EATME!» That’s the only thing I don’t like about Mike’s, so I’ll forgive it. I digress. Mike’s is the real deal, guys. Connected to a laundromat but sparkling clean, it’s owned by an adorable Asian family that makes everything from scratch/at order– meaning that while the food is a little slow, it comes to you piping hot and made with love… no Cisco garbage here! The best thing is the tenders combo. Sprinkle a bunch of the spicy seasoning all over them and savor the awesome crunchy breading. The coleslaw is just whatever, so I usually replace it with extra toast. The cute cashier recommended I try the fried chicken the last time I was there, and she was totally right– it’s probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s also super cheap, which is more than okay with me. The dipping sauces are a little runny, but the honey mustard is great. The best though is some kind of peanut sauce. No idea which it is, but it’s grrrrrreat.

This place is great. A hole in the wall place. I’ve gone here like once a week for the past few months and it hasn’t disappointed once. I believe in consistency in restaurant quality and this place does that. My definite favorite is the chicken tenders. The tenders are huge, always. They are juicy, never dry or over cooked. The breading is thin yet crispy, never too oily or anything. The fries are typical but never soggy. They have a house seasoning that is comparable to chicken express’ serendipity so remember to shake that all over everything. So my usual go to is the 4 piece tender combo with fries with the fire buffalo sauce(unique and spicy) and gravy. Honestly I’ve always though tenders were tenders and ex-favorite was chicken express, but after trying this place I can’t imagine myself going to any other chicken place!

We found ourselves in the neighborhood and while looking on Unilocal for options for a late dinner we came across the reviews for this place. With all the good reviews we had to stop by and give them a try ourselves. My husband, daughter and myself all ordered Chicken Tender meals. My daughter and I got a 3 piece and Hubby a 4 piece. For all 3 of us with drinks the total came in around $ 25. The guy at the counter was very friendly and asked us several times if we were enjoying our food and even how our night was going. Even though it was our first time there he made us feel right at home and treated us like a guest in his own home which is rare these days. You can tell everyone there takes great pride in the food they share. The prices were more than fair. We ended up taking home more than enough food for another meal. Trust me their chicken is also good cold. :) The lobby was VERY clean and kept organized. Just to let you know they do have rap music playing and a few of the other customers could be heard cussing but not at an insane level that annoyed me especially with my 11 year old with us. Those who don’t want to listen to the music or language may consider getting their food to go because it’s definitely worth eating here. As previously mentioned they do have a very small dining area. Each table is for 2 people so I’m not sure how well this place would be for large groups. I noticed they took orders over the phone for people and the phone rang several times with orders. Just like others said it does take about 15 – 20 minutes for your food to be ready and they did tell us that when we ordered so there was no surprises in having to wait a bit. It was well worth the wait because it was quite obvious that our food was made to order and hadn’t been sitting around waiting to be ordered. The batter fell off the chicken and was very crunchy and tasty. The actual chicken strip was strips of chicken that wasn’t taken out of a box of pre-packaged frozen chicken waiting to be deep fried. It was juicy without being greasy as others have mentioned it is an art to have crispy food without it being too greasy. They offer several choices for dipping sauces. They offer Coke products and refills are 50 cents which is written on a sign when you order so there’s no confusion over that. I would have given this place a 4 ½ Star rating if I could. The ONLY reason I didn’t was because I personally did not like the way the batter fell off the chicken it made it a bit interesting to eat. It would be great if they offered the choice of either original flavor or spicy flavored chicken because personally I felt like the batter could use a bit more flavor or heat in it and I’m not a hot spicy food kinda person. I could see the music and language of others could be a bit of a turn off for others who don’t normally listen to either so if it’s a problem order your food to go. If we find ourselves in this neighborhood again we will definitely be back to eat here. The price for what you get is great and we came home with enough leftovers for another meal. I do think next time I will try a couple pieces of fried chicken instead of chicken strips just to see what they are like. I would not think twice about recommending this locally owned restaurant to any of our friends or family.

Great little family business next to a coin laundry. Service is wonderful. However, the time it takes you to order & actually get your hands on your food takes awhile. TIP: Call your order in 10 minutes before you pick it up. Amazing value!!! For less than $ 7 the 4 tender combo meal comes with 4 big crispy juicy tasty tenderzzzz… bunch of steak fries, side of slaw, texas toast and a big boyzzz drink. The chicken tacos and chicken tender sandwich are a delicious steal, I mean deal too. Hope they offer spicy tenders in the future.

There are so many options for fried chicken tenders now! Mike’s is located in a run-down looking strip next to a laundromat, but is exceptionally clean and bright on the inside. They pride themselves on using fresh chicken, and you can definitely taste the difference. The chicken is delicious and well-marinated, and the batter was fried to the perfect crisp. I also liked how their to-go containers were paper so that condensation didn’t build up inside the box and cause the chicken to get soggy. Best of all, their fried chicken is such a steal! They gave large, juicy pieces of chicken for such a good price. I’ll definitely be back soon. :)

Incredible value, with good quality fast food at a shockingly low price. A four-piece tender meal — tenders, fries, toast, coleslaw, sauce, drink — is a mere $ 7.10, including tax. I thought the chicken was frozen but see the comment from the awesome owner on the review — it’s fresh, which makes the price even more amazing. As far as I know they bread it in-house — whatever they do, they make the best of the humble bird, with a superb coating with the slightest hint of spice and amazingly tender meat. Fries are reasonable, toast is basic, coleslaw is very lightly dressed, but the tenders alone are simply the best around. You will be ruined for the chewy, tasteless tenders in most restaurants forever more. They have quite the selection of sauces, mostly buffalo-focused, but the barbecue dip is fine with the fries. The chicken doesn’t need it. There are shakers of «Mike’s Regular» and«Mike’s Hot» seasoning on the counter — salt, chili, paprika and the like — and they do add a little to the experience, but don’t overdo it. I must have driven or walked past this place thirty or forty times before curiosity got the better of me and I finally tried it. Now I go at least once a month — only health concerns stop me going there more often. They have plenty of other things on the menu but I can’t imagine ordering anything but the tenders. Please note that they close relatively early(9:30pm) and are not open at all on Sundays. There is a very limited amount of seating inside. As others have recommended, calling ahead for takeout is your best bet. Friendly staff.

Mike’s is WONDERFUL! It’s connected to a laundromat. but do not let that stop you from coming. Everything here is made when ordered so it’s fresh! The staff is always phenomenal and very friendly. There’s not much seating inside, and they do have a small area outside to eat, but it’s a more of an order and pick up place(at least that’s what I’ve done). The chicken tenders are a hit! The breading is so good, it’s not overly done and has just the right amount of crisp. They’re fried in peanut oil so it just makes it that much more delicious. They’re not dripping of grease either. I love it! My favorite place for chicken tenders for sure, much more liked than chicken express or what not :).

I was asked the 1st time I came here– how did I hear about the place. Unilocal was my answer. I was on my way once before and got derailed but kept it in mind to try out. I had a awesome experience from even a call in order. The guy at the counter was indeed nice and also told me a way to try the different items on the menu.(Start with 1) until. I ordered a tender combo– that of course came with fries and a drink. Small Cole slaw was also included. This might be the first chicken place that I’ve been too– other than the 3 that I won’t name. Tenders was moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Delicious– no other way to explain it. (recommend vanilla icecream also) It’s seating outdoors(cold now) end of sentence. Not for sure if it’s next to a laundry mat or if they have anything to do with one another. It’s a door that separate them inside the store but I haven’t seen anyone use it while I was there. Small amount of seating on the inside and not alot of parking on the outside. STILLWORTHIT. P. S. I do believe they delivery but ask first. Bone Appetit

Um what. Why hasn’t this place gotten more recognition? Move over Max’s wine and dive, Hattie’s, and chicken joints that tout great fried chicken in Dallas. This is, hands down, the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. There is just no competition to any fast food place or sit down place. The cashier who took our order gave us a run down on how they freshly prepare all orders after marinating the chicken at least overnight. It definitely shows. The tenders are juicy and flavorful, made better by the house sprinkles for extra flavor. I also got a catfish filet, which I really enjoyed as well. Their chicken tender sandwich is on point, with slaw that really sets it apart from anything I’ve tried before. We also ordered biscuits and Mac and cheese, and at the risk of sounding redundant, were great. The biscuits were moist and perfectly crumbly. The Mac and cheese was not mushy, and even though it was made out of some cheese product, had a great smoky flavor to it which was really good. It heated up well also. Did I mention how great the prices are? If we hadn’t over ordered, a dinner for two would’ve cost around $ 10. This huge dinner cost us around $ 17, with plenty of left overs. I just can’t wait to come back here, this one is a sleeping giant!

A+ fried chicken hidden in a laundry mat. Don’t be fooled by the exterior, they have a friendly staff with solid food. Highlights: great chicken with crispy outside and quality meat. The price: VERY affordable Cons: watery honey mustard sauce, and the fact they make you pay extra for more than 1. –The«Texas toast» also appeared to be about the thickness of Wonder bread FYI they are not open on Sundays!

I decided to give Mike’s Chicken 5 stars, because I can’t remember eating chicken tenders of this caliber. If anyone knows of another chicken tender place that is on par with Mike’s Chicken, please let me know! I live down the street from Mike’s and can’t believe I have passed it so many times without even considering giving it a try. The spray painted chicken on the side of the building underneath the laundromat sign makes it deceivingly sketchy. And the bars around the restaurant does not help. A true hole-in-the-wall, Mike’s Chicken delivers some delicious chicken. If you’re a big fan of: A. chicken tenders, B. fried chicken, C. Popeyes or D. all of the above, then you’ll love Mike’s Chicken as much as I do. The chicken tenders are their specialty, and I can see why. The skin is crispy, not too greasy, and the meat is tender and juicy! Unlike other chicken tenders I’ve tried, these are nice & plump. I also tried their hush puppies and sweet potato fries. Both came out fresh, hot and delicious as well. Other menu options include fried catfish, fried chicken and wings. **Important: Don’t forget to sprinkle their version of cajun sparkle to EVERYTHING you order. It’s a subtle seasoning that gives the chicken(or fries or mash potatoes, etc) that extra kick! What makes this place even better is that they make everything in house, including their sauces. Their fire buffalo sauce is to die for. It has that buffalo tang with a subtle peanut flavor. I know it sounds weird, but the combo of these two flavors are great! I’m addicted. Fun fact: You can buy any of their sauces for $ 3, which I’m planning to do very soon. ***Tip: Call and order ahead since everything is made after you order it, which means fresher and hotter food! Wait times for wings and tenders ranges from 10 – 15 min.

We were a little thrown off by the bars on the windows but the place was clean, bright, and friendly. Call ahead if your in a hurry as they don’t believe in heat lamps or pre cooked food. Everything is made to order so expect to wait a bit. It is well worth the wait! Tobi,(our cashier) was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The chicken wings were meaty and tasty. Chicken tenders were hot and juicy, and the catfish fillets were enormous and so good! We will be repeat customers for sure!

Mike’s Chicken is a small restaurant off Maple. It’s connected to a laundromat, has iron security bars, a questionable parking lot at night, and some of the best darn fried chicken in Dallas. I know there are plenty of friend chicken options in Dallas — fast food chains, modern American bistros, etc. Mike’s is a locally owned mom & pop shop that does fried chicken right. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Mike’s is small & shares a shopping strip with a laundromat. There are only a few small tables in the narrow restaurant along with a few bar stool height ledges. Outside you’ll find some picnic tables, but honestly it’s really small. There’s only one register — not sure how busy they are during lunch but during our weekend dinner visit it was nice & clean. Most patrons ordered food to go, so it’s pretty obvious Mike’s really isn’t built well for dine-in. ½ Star. Service — Being locally owned means the people behind the business take pride in their product & work. The staff was great, they took time to make recommendations, helped us setup tables, got us extra chairs, and did many little things to make our experience great. Good service & good people here. 1 Star. Food — If you’re going to focus on one item on the menu, you should do it right. Mike’s does it right. We started with the fried chicken wings, which uses the entire wing. Sure, the tip is only good to gnaw on, but the breading of the fried chicken is so good. It’s crispy without being greasy, and the chicken is plump and juicy. I’m not sure how they make it without being so greasy either. You get a super crunch bite, perfect, not too salty, and delicious. The fried catfish basket is also excellent, with a well-seasoned, golden corn meal crust that makes adds crunch while the fish remains tender — again, not a spot of greasiness in sight. Sweet potato fries? More please. Lastly, those tenders are the type you order for your kids and then eat them when they’re not looking. Yes, I’m of fan of Mike’s chicken. 2 Stars. Will I Return? — Yes… but. I think Mike’s is working on expanding their outdoor seating to make it climate controlled. I think once they do that a return visit is a no-brainer. I just know if I’m willing to go back right away when the seating is so limited. And the chicken is the kind you want to eat right away, not to go. ½ Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

Like many before me, I will be raving about the fresh fried chicken. While the order does take a little longer to get, the chicken comes out piping hot and very meaty. While many places have a thicker crust, they don’t and your chicken is actually chicken! But like many before me, the crust does have a problem to fall off. I ordered the tenders plus sweet potato fries and unfortunately did not try the buffalo sauce, even though it is a clear fan favorite, because I’m not a huge fan of spicy things, so they recommended me the gravy instead. The gravy dipping sauce was thick and nice, it was good, but I think I will try another sauce. While it was good, it kinda overpowered the chicken and with such good fried chicken, you should let it be the star. The sweet potato fries were crispy but they were under-dressed. They tasted exactly like what it was, and I was expecting a little more seasoning on it. Other than that, the cashier taking the order was very nice and polite. The food does take a little while to get out, but it is worth it. I noticed all the other sides they had on the menu after I ordered and I think I would like to try their mac and cheese the next time!

Came here based on Unilocal reviews. I drove past it at first. Shares building and parking lot with a coin-op laundry. It’s just north of the Dallas Tollway overpass on the east side of the road. Adequate parking. The bars on the windows tell you something. Inside it’s very clean with limited seating. The counter server was very nice. Menu on the wall. I got the 6 shrimp combo. Comes with 6 breaded medium shrimp, a lot of plank fries, two hush puppies, a few slices of fresh carrot and celery in a small cup, a choice of buffalo, tartar, or cocktail sauce, and a twenty ounce soft drink. It was all cooked while I waited. The shrimp was very good, fries as well. I enjoyed the hint of jalapeño in the hush puppies. This was a good value for the money.

This place is amazing as far as fresh fried chicken and catfish goes. And I mean FRESH. It takes awhile to get your order(10 – 15 minutes), but if you have time, it’s worth it. Call ahead if you don’t have time and pick up your order — you won’t regret this lunch/dinner option! The fried chicken was so fresh and crispy yet super juicy on the inside. It wasn’t salty and didn’t leave me super thirsty afterward, like most fried chicken chains do. Their fries were well seasoned. I also tried some of my friend’s catfish fillet, and it was super good. Tender on the inside and breaded perfectly on the outside. Get chicken tacos too, if you’re feeling tacos! I really liked the tender chicken and the grilled onions and hot sauce are a great touch. The shrimp taco wasn’t my favorite, but their fish taco wasn’t bad! I’ll have to try the chicken tenders next, as they said that was their most popular item after the catfish.

I get a homey feel when I walk into Mike’s Chicken. Perhaps its the Asian family behind the counter and in the kitchen. Honestly though, those should’ve been huge red flags on the quality of the food. I mean how often have you found a chicken tenders restaurant run by Asians, but I was very impressed. The tenders were huge. They are lightly breaded which means there is a lot of meat for the price you pay. Although the bread is a bit fragile, I still thought it was very tasty. Its missing the crisp you’d get at say Raising Canes, but it made the tenders feel more homemade. I also enjoyed the catfish, but I’m not the biggest fan of the corn meal based coating. I’d definitely order it again though. The fried chicken and wings were alright, so I’ll stick with the tenders and catfish. The service is great! Toby behind the counter is always keeping it real.
