Marquis at West End

I’ve been living here for roughly 2 years and while there’s been numerous management changes, the current management team lead by Amanda is fantastic. They hold socials and numerous events for residents. They’re always very polite and helpful. Location is great, close to American Airlines Center and uptown. Would definitely recommend.

I have lived at Marquis West End for about two years now. I honestly have had zero issues with my apartment home. It’s the best of downtown living. The complex has amazing interior & exterior lighting. I feel great calling this my home! I love the upgrades inside the apartment complex and most of all Amanda has been super caring & I appreciate the changes that she has made to the complex. We have resident events which are refreshing and an amazing way to get to know new people. We recently had a parking issue but Amanda was quick to address our concerns. If you want to live somewhere where your voice is actually heard then this is the place for you! I love this community and I plan on renewing my lease again. To add to this. We have an amazing on site officer that won’t hesitate to speak to you or joke around with you. I’ve had nothing but a great experience.
The area is also full of downtown life! Multiple restaurants and also. CVS across the street. The DART station is right behind the complex which is amazing.

I lived 1 year and that was all I needed. The dart behind the building always attracts individuals who will stop at nothing to ask for money. The office staff is incompetent and maintenance is unreliable. Facilities are not well maintained and the parking garage always stinks. Also all the common hallway and stairwells are filthy and urine is commonly found. Elevators always are out of service. Nice apartment itself, but the amenities, community, and management left a ton to be desired.

This property has been fantastic for us over the past five and half years! We love being located in downtown with easy access to so many things, public transportation, and our jobs. The Marquis West End team is very responsive, friendly, and outgoing. There are several social events they host for residents each year to engage residents in the community. Maintenance staff is excellent and fast at repairs… same day service usually. Great parking accommodations with no extra fees. Overall, we really enjoy our apartment and would recommend this property highly.

Lived here for 1 year and moved due to job relocation.
Pros:
Staff is wonderful. Always answered any questions quickly and resolved any issues within 24 hours.
Amenities are great for price that you pay. As for square footage, apt are huge.
Within walking distance to restaurants/​bars. Also a 24 hour 7-​eleven down the street. Convenient!
Cons:
Next to dart so you see a lot of homeless people. Although, I never had any issues, it was still scary to walk by yourself as a female.
Not a lot of insulation. I could hear my upstairs neighbors noise, and received noise complaints from my downstairs neighbor when I was completing normal activities (ie cooking dinner, watching tv).
No AT&T. Only TWC, which was a huge problem for me since I am an avid supporter of AT&T for cable/​Internet.
Parking is first come/​first serve, so if you came back after 11pm on week days, it is difficult to find a spot. Also, limited visitor parking, but there are meters in front that are free from 12a-​8a.
I would move back again if I had an opportunity arise in the area. Enjoyed all 12 months of my stay.

I lived in a 1-​bedroom apartment here on a 3-​month lease last summer while working two internships downtown. Obviously my experience at this complex is limited, but now that I’m moving to start a job permanently (in Houston) and I’m relying on Unilocal and similar review websites I felt like I should review this complex.
Pros:
1. Very nice management. Justina was the person I dealt with the most, but Jennifer was nice as well. Here is one example: Packages are left at the front office, and there were a few days in a row when I didn’t make it home on time to collect them before the office closed. I emailed the office asking if they could just leave them in the mail room for me, and Jennifer offered to just bring them up to my apartment for me. There were multiple community events in the short time I was there, including food trucks, pool cookouts, and wine tastings at a store across the street.
2. Clean, well-​maintained apartment. I used to joke that I could rent out my bathroom as a second room-​it was huge! Wood floors except in the bedroom and huge walk-​in closet. I rarely cooked but appliances seemed new. I was on the third floor overlooking the pool, and I really liked having a decent-​sized balcony. The hallways had the distinct smell that most apartment complexes have when they allow pets and apparently all use the same carpet cleaner, but at least it was clean? I saw one roach the three months I was there, and after I sprayed it with Raid that was the end of that.
3. Covered, secure parking-​for almost the entire summer there was enough parking to go around. At one point they were apparently near capacity and so it started getting tough to find spots, but they started enforcing the parking passes and towing (with warning to all the residents) and it cleared up. There isn’t a lot of visitor parking, but the «future resident parking» opens up to visitors at night and there is metered parking outside so my few visitors didn’t have a problem.
Con:
Location – this is a mix of a pro and a con. Specifically, on the side of the complex with the main entrance (and entrance to the garage) you are in the quiet West End on Ross. However, go around the corner and there is a DART stop that can get pretty crowded and sketchy. There were also sometimes people who wandered into the parking area outside the gates (which smelled like urine sometimes). However, I always felt safe with the security measures in place on the property, and I just didn’t go out what I felt like was the more sketchy side of the building.
The West End more generally has pros and cons of its own. I wanted to be close to downtown without actually being in downtown, and as a result I had one of the shortest commutes of my fellow interns. There is a convenient CVS across the street, and a few restaurants (mostly chains but a few local places like Ellen’s-YUM) are around, but it definitely isn’t the most happening part of town at all. You also aren’t close to grocery stores. This didn’t bother me during my short stay, but could be annoying for a longer lease.
Overall, there was nothing to complain about for the apartment itself, and it was perfect for my needs. The location leaves something to be desired, but hopefully the West End will develop along with places like the Design District and the rest of Dallas, in which case I would certainly recommend living here.
