Looks like it’s been changed to The Heights. Good breakfast, friendly staff and service. We’ll be back.

Great service. My food breakfast arrived fast even though they were busy w the Sunday brunch crowd. Had the oatmeal and vegetarian sausage. The oatmeal portion was a bit small for the $, but everything tasted good. Next time I’ll try the pancakes, which are more generous in size. FYI vegetarians and vegans, their pancakes are egg free.

Dear Legal Grinds, You need to make your mind up if this is a coffee shop or a restaurant. This used to be my favorite place(with unlimited cups of coffee) to sit, graze on the great food, and study for a few hours. Today I was asked to vacate my table to make way for«people who want to eat»(after I had eaten). The food’s not good enough to bring me in just for that, so I wont be going again.

I posted on this place several years ago and the staff and service have definitely improved. The food is consistent as ever. Coffee can get a little tepid in the serve yourself carafes but not really a complaint. Wifi is standard now and it’s really pleasant when they open the front door on a nice winter day. I was told the ownership changed this week and there might be some changes. They were already doing work in the kitchen and a permit was posted on the front door. It would be nice for a spruce up. Too bad the sidewalk out front is so narrow and won’t allow for outdoor seating. I hope the menu doesn’t change.

This place was awful on so many levels. When I got up to the counter to order I recognized the waitress as the same empty-headed barista from Whole Foods. The fact that she had to take my order seemed painful to her. I ordered a breakfast burrito, which was a HUGE disappointment. Spending $ 8 for a breakfast burrito that resembled those from McDonalds just made me more angry at this place. Then when I asked for some Tabasco she pointed to the wall where they put the bottles. The only redeeming quality I can say about this place was that the coffee was the only thing stronger than this woman’s utter disdain for her job. 10⁄10 would not recommend and hope this girl finds a new job soon.

She said: I’m thoroughly impressed with the menu at Legal Grounds. I spent the better part of a day working here before the wifi in our apartment was set up and sampled both the breakfast and lunch menus. Coffee was a little light but bottomless, breakfast burritos and pancakes were filling and delicious, as were the sandwiches. I enjoyed the legal theme too :-) He said: The neighborhood coffee shop everyone wants, with the hearty but healthy breakfast options to put it over the top. It gets crowded on the weekends, but that’s the only downside. Food-5, Service-4, Décor-4

I wasn’t impressed with this place. I was told good things but I felt it was over priced for what you actually get. Wouldn’t go back.

The food was awful. I was sent here by a friend and was in shock at the horrible service and food. We ordered the famous oatmeal pancake– it had obviously been sitting in the refrigerator since the day before. When we complained that it was still cold, the server took it to the microwave and heated it up in front of us, no apology. So gross. Will not be back again.

I was going to stop into a corporate chain business to eat but I saw Legal Grounds and decided to give the independant a try. Im glad I did. My meal was tasty, of good portion, the espresso was a ‘good pull’, and the young gal working the counter was sincere and kind. I would return to this business

Great breakfast here. I’ve tried the breakfast sandwich, the burrito and the prom cakes. All delicious! I’m currently waiting on The Diane. Their pancakes are ridiculously huge. I found that out the hard way: P They’ll make two or three good meals if you get three though!

I went in this morning because it’s a block away from my apartment. It was absolutely packed at 9:30am on a Sunday — after ordering from the bar, I had to wait around 5 minutes to find a table(rather awkwardly… I felt like I was staring down the various couples scattered throughout the place). I had the latte(very, very good) and the oatmeal(pretty good) which came out to $ 8 with tip. I liked it, but fighting with crowds means I probably won’t stop by all that often, unfortunately. Once I finished my oatmeal I glugged the latte as quickly as possible because there were other people waiting for a table like I had been. If I’m ever around when it’s not a breakfast rush-hour, I’ll have to try again.

Legal Grounds has a cozy, neighborhood feel even if it’s not your neighborhood. It has self-serve coffee and you order at the counter, and the menu is limited. But the welcoming vibe and low-key, Sunday-morning chatter instantly put you at ease and make you want to refill the cup again and again. The«cakes» are divine – pancakes with oatmeal baked in, and covered with the Legal Grounds house-made granola, with a smattering of the apple praline sauce atop, they are just the sort of natural indulgence we love to fool ourselves into thinking is healthy. I had the«Suzanne» which included not only a «Cory cake» with bananas baked in with the oatmeal, but also a choice of eggs. I chose the green chili eggs and I must admit, they were gone from my plate in an embarrassingly short amount of time… The only negative was my bacon, which didn’t taste nearly as good as it looked. Pre-cooked and re-heated, maybe? A disappointment for sure, but not to my dog at home for whom it was destined. Despite my blah bacon, Legal Grounds was a delight. They have managed the difficult task of marrying homey with edgy, and that takes some doing.

Enjoyed breakfast. Great ambiance and service. Had the pancakes which were amazing and the granola with yogurt and fruit. Latte was excellent also. Enjoyed it very much– tasty and family friendly. Would recommend it for breakfast for sure.

Legal Grounds is a neat little resto nestled in a shopping center in Lakewood. It’s decorated with several law books(the old kind my dad had lying all over our house) — I always appreciate a punny establishment. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. The menu is plastered there where you order and there are several choices so if you get flustered easily, look online first. It’s one of those high-pressure, you’re-holding-up-the-line-if-you-take-more-than-a-minute kind of situations. I had a hazelnut coffee, cinnamon scone and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee is delish but a little weak on the caffeine, or at least that one is. The cinnamon scone was great — it reminded me of cinnamon sugar toast I used to eat as a kid. MMM sugar carbs! The breakfast sandwich was a good size(2 eggs, cheese, and a few pieces of bacon on wheat toast) but nothing outrageous or super special. Apparently the pancake is the thing to get. I didn’t see a single other person with a breakfast sandwich, I’ll tell you that much lol! I’d definitely go back to try that pancake.

Legal Grounds is a bit dark and narrow inside, tidy, with a wall of books suggesting a library, some framed art, and some nicely dressed white men with leather satchels. The coffee in the serve-yourself urn, $ 2.50 for bottomless, was kinda tepid for my first cup, which I was okay with me. The pretty zesty smiling girl with an east coast accent who served me set the stage, and showed me a small and simple breakfast and lunch menu — café style. The one wooden chair outside seemed more of a decoration but I didn’t break it. «I heard there used to be some legal forum here. Is that true?» I inquired. «They used to do that but stopped when the new owners took over a couple of years ago.» The other very pretty, less annoyingly ethereal counter girl advised me. «They decided to keep the legal theme.» «It looked there were a lot of lawyers in here.» She kinda laughed, «people come in here and work. The owners wife is a lawyer so if anyone calls or asks for legal advice I just give them her number.» Mexican mamas manned the kitchen but I just stuck to coffee. A few more down to earth types rounded out the crowd including some older Lakewood residents, mellow biker boy with his girlfriend and a few people of color. Everyone was well behaved. Justice, in the form of coffee, was served.

I was recently in Dallas for a wedding, and found myself hanging out with some friends on a Sunday morning. My buddy suggested that we take his kids out for breakfast, and so we made or way to Legal Grounds. It is a smaller(«cozy») restaurant/coffee shop, and is exactly the sorry of place that I’d like to hang out to sit around and read. The breakfast menu was small(pancake oriented), but had a bunch of tasty sounding options. I ended up with a pancake covered in granola with bacon. I chose well. The coffee was warm, the bacon crisp, the granola homemade– what more could a person want? The two workers behind the counter were congenial and cool, making for an all around pleasant experience.

Granola? Granola? Paging Granola… And I found it here. You can buy bags of their granola to go, and it is delicious. Is it expensive? I’m not sure, but it very well might be. The last time I went in I got a couple of things and then did a double take on the price, but I was already out the door. C’est la vie. It’s hard to find an empty table on a weekend morning. I would say the crowd is a little older, maybe a few young families, and a few yogis having finished up a class at Uptown across the street. I would classify this as a neighborhood coffee house. Probably really cozy on a rainy weekday. Though it might not be until I retire that I find out for sure!

Whenever I visit my parents, I’m always not-so-secretly hoping that we can work in a breakfast trip to Legal Grounds. If you know how to work it, you can work it to your advantage. A few pro tips: 1) Don’t go with a large group. I’m talking four people max, even 2 would be ideal. The tables are close together and it gets jam-packed crowded on weekend mornings. The smaller your group, the easier you’ll be accommodated(duh). 2) Stick with what they do best — the pancakes. I ventured into an egg dish most recently and it was just okay, but I wish I had stuck with my regular. The cakes are where it’s at. My personal favorite is the Pom Cake that comes with bananas and their homemade granola on top(there’s some crunchy coconut in there somewhere that makes the dish). Believe me, one pancake is enough. Their chai is a little sweet for me(I like mine spicier) but not a deal breaker and I’ve always been greeted with nothing but friendly and helpful service.

Hey, a coffee place right by my job! The inside of this place is so inviting. It’s filled with dark wood tones and interesting pieces of art. They serve breakfast and light lunches as well as COFFEE!
