Fixed dreaded red cog of death light on my 2002 330i, did a software upgrade on the transmission computer, changed out the tranny fluid and filter for a very reasonable price, and did it in a few hours.
My 13 year old car with 100k miles is WAY zippier than when we bought it.
Dealer would have had us replace the transmission.
