This place is total garbage. The food wasn’t kept even remotely warm and it tasted as though it had been sitting out for days. The soup was sour(and no, it wasn’t supposed to be) and I think it had already gone bad. We both felt sick a few hours after eating at this dump. I’d steer clear of this place. They’re going to make somebody really sick one day with their foul and disgusting food.

William R seems lonely; he gave Great China a recent review… but no one else did. Giving the benefit of the doubt and restaurants can have off nights or months like Feb & March 2013. I arrived at 12:40 p.m.and there was a decent crowd. It took a moment to realize the setup was pay first. eat second. I got the usual to start off with: Egg Roll, sweet & sour sauce, Fried Rice, Chicken on a Stick, Baked Spinich, fried drumette. Second go around: Orange Chicken, Honey Chicken, Chicken and Brocolli, Chicken Kung Pow, Sesame Chicken and one other. it may have been called Hong Kong Chicken. The previous reviewers, except William, hit the nail on the head. In nearly every case the cook forgot the basic salt and pepper. The fried drumette was cooked nicely but in spite of a woman constantly patrolling the buffet(and muttering in Chinese to no one in particular) the food gave the impression of being dry and not fresh from the Wok. The Egg Roll was dark as though the grease was old and scorched, however the Spring Rolls(also fried) were not discolored and tasted a lot better. The sweet and sour sauce was up to par. To sum it up the over-anxious cook is making items too far in advance and holding them until needed. The lack of heat lamps over the buffet insure luke-warm dishes. No Pow in the Kung Pow although I noted a few dried peppers mingling with the Chicken. The taking away of dirty dishes and refilling the drink was done well and helped offset the disappointment of the Orange Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Joven M said it «The only saving grace was that it wasn’t expensive».

Bad. Bad. Bad. The food was beyond bland. The sushi was like eating bland, moist cardboard. Fried rice was dry and bland. The egg drop soup was red(???) And bland. Did I happen to mention the food was bland??? The food was just above tepid. The only saving grace was that it wasn’t expensive.

Ewe, ewe, ewe, This place was terrible. Everything was not fresh. A lot of suspect seafood, lots of food coloring added to the food. I have been searching for a decent buffet in Dallas and I am beginning to think they just don’t exist.

I’m not a huge fan of Chinese buffets, but every once in a while I have a hankering for a big variety of food for a low price, and a Chinese buffet is a good place to go if you like Asian food. And if you choose well you can have a good, even relatively healthy meal. This restaurant is a cut above other Chinese buffet restaurants I have visited. The ambiance is somewhat nicer, with its pale yellow and bright turquoise walls and tiled floor. While much of the menu is similar in items and their quality, Grand China has items you cannot always get at similar venues. Here are a few of the items I found impressive. The sushi rolls(only w/veggies and cooked fish) were very good. They had a chicken soup with large pieces of chicken in a flavorful broth in addition to the usual egg drop and hot and sour soup. Well seasoned grilled chicken was offered(so often the seasoning is bland at these buffets) which was a nice addition to all the less healthy ways the Chinese cook chicken. But I did have some of the honey chicken. Mmm. The barbecued pork was also a cut above other places, nicely seasoned and not overly drenched in overly sweet sauce. The fresh oysters(yes, I even eat those at Chinese buffets!) were large, plump and fresh. The poached salmon was another healthy option, but would have been better without the cheese(?) sauce on top. Same with the mussels. Excellent, but too much cheese. The baby shrimp were in a mild, but flavorful sauce… and they were served alone and not with a bunch of vegetables! They had delicate rice flour noodles in addition to the usual(oily) lo mein noodles. Frankly, it was worth the price of the meal just to eat the dozen fresh oysters I loaded on to my plate. Not to mention all the other healthy(and not-quite-so-healthy) dishes.
