Wanted to try it since my co-workers are loving it. Ordered their $ 5 something lunch special(no drink included). It was discussing and not worth the money. More chicken bones than meat, dark meat, very very small portion. The music was just too loud that there was no way you can have a conversation without yelling at each other. Employees were dining next to our table — super loud and obnoxious. If you want to enjoy your quick lunch, just drive a few feet further to Taco Bell, you’ll get better food there.

The rotisserie chicken here is to die for… season so well and juicy, has a great smoky grill taste. Rest of the food is mediocre… but they specialize in chicken and they never disappoint. The burritos are huge. I paid like 17.00 for a family size dinner which can feed up to five ppl… the chicken itself is like a five.

I walked in to buy lunch and went to the restroom to wash my hands and was told that I needed to be a customer in an aggressive manner and that I wasn’t able to wash my hands until I order. This was very frustrating since I wasn’t dressed like a bum and wasn’t given time to order food. This was an immediate reaction and am going to recommend to everyone at my the company I work at that they don’t buy lunch from their guys here. Antonio was extremely unprofessional and my trip was a waste of time! I’m disappointed!

This is a very late review, I love Pollo Regio, but I will never go back to this location. I found a screw inside my torta. I took it back and asked for corporates phone number which they did not give me. The manager kept giving excuses, they need to be careful!!!

Good place and all ! But Today they blew it big TIME ! Got into the establishment * didn’t bother to check the time… So, there’s a guy infront, that had already ordered apparently. Waited for few minutes and nothing happened, so therefore decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands, hoping that tha guy had already been taken care of… And sure enough, got to the counter; by which now no one was there… Lady comes out from the kitchen that was cleaning up and didn’t see her wash or sanitize her hands, so I giver my order for the lunch special and with short of a sarcastic smile on her face says«lunch special is over at 2 «So I reached into my pocket for my phone and it was 2:03… Then I told the lady if she would have taken action sooner I could’ve had to chance to still order it… And then replied with«I wish I could, but the system doesn’t let me» complete B. S ! So therefore I left home upset. And on my way, I passed by La Michoacana, and saw that they have $ 4.99 Five taco special with charro beans. And they are loaded with a great salsa bar available! At the end it turned out to be a better deal than what Regio had to offer. And for mi Tia«Lupe» nothing personal, but *Mas pilas para la siguiente !

Yes, this place is about chicken. Is it good? No, it’s great. I had the Lunch special, ½ chicken, beans, rice, tortillas, a free drink. Make tacos with all of the ingredients, and put salsa in it. Fantastic. Will be back. Stay hungry my friends…

Its pretty much a hit or miss. Guess it depends on which cook is there on any given day. Some days have been really great. And other days I’ve had the feeling of being duped into spending $ 22 on a family meal. Over all chicken is good. Beans are old style mexican which is a plus.

I love me some cheap Mexican food! And el pollo regio always hits the spot for me! This location is super clean! I have only ever gotten the half chicken that I can make three meals out of! It’s a lot of food!!! The chicken is smokey spicy and moist! I love the salsa bar I always get one of everything like a crazy person with 10 sauces on my table! Now the best thing I’ve ever had… Ever! The freaking caramel cinnamon churro!!! It’s like going to Disney world in your mouth!!!

Can’t believe this place is still open, the chicken was raw inside! Nothing great about this food, the seasoning they use is about the only good of it and the green salsa but aside from that. The employees talk bad about customer in Spanish, they are rude as hell. Food is less than mediocre

First time going back after their renovation. Bought a whole chicken with rice, beans and tortillas. The chicken was so burned that there was barely any meat left. The rice was undercooked but the beans were ok. Probably won’t go back to this place.

I was offered El Pollo Regio as a free lunch today. In short: no. Don’t bother. The lunch came with pork & beans, rice, tortillas, two sauces and very dried and overcooked beef. The beef was black, tough and salty. I ended up mixing the green sauce with the rice and pork & beans. Overall the lunch was unappetizing. Save yourself and avoid El Pollo Regio.

Not the best, but pretty good tacos for a decent price. They give you lots of meat and condiments! If you’re driving through– make sure you check the bag before you leave, they forgot the extra pico I asked for.

Not bad at all. At first I thought the carne asada tacos were expensive — until they handed me a tray overflowing with meat. Expect to wait a little bit if you go during peak times. Crummy neighborhood. Close to Richland, which helps me a lot.

Le sigh. I had high hopes for this place after frequenting the Garland location, but it has consistently hovered between disappointing and just passable. The fact that the building is a «renovated» Jack in the box doesn’t particularly help their cause either. First off, I take issue with the fact that there are(or were at least for the first months after they opened) items on the menu, such as tacos al pastor that they don’t actually serve here. After three or four visits where I eagerly ran across the street for a down and dirty taco lunch to find that they couldn’t fulfill my marinated pork wishes, I stopped making the trek. Of course, I went back again and braved the building with its leaky ceiling because it’s just so effing close to my office. Some of the staff is friendly but others won’t give you the time of day if you don’t lead off speaking Spanish. The portions are decent, especially if you opt for the ½ or whole chicken instead of tacos, flautas etc. But compared to the other locations in th area, food quality and service are both definitely lacking. Not a good choice if you want to avoid smelling like fast food and don’t want that orange, greasy sheen lingering on your hands after you finish. That, heartburn and a slight sense of shock that you forked over that much cash money for a relatively unsatisfying meal will be all you’re left with after you hit up this place. I’ve given it more than enough chances to step up its game, but some pollos just can’t cross the road from bad to good.

Since the name translates to ‘royal chicken’, I ordered the 2-piece chicken lunch special which comes with half an onion, rice, beans, and 3 corn tortillas for just $ 4. The half onion was completely unnecessary in my opinion; it was just a steamed onion half. They could at least slice it up and grill or something. The chicken was just okay. It didn’t look particularly appetizing… kind of beat up looking. The flavor was a bit bland and the breast I had was dry and overcooked. It seems they chop up the chicken into individual pieces before cooking. My friend ordered a half chicken and it came out as pieces(but not like freshly cut-up like at Boston Market). The redeeming factor was the self-serve toppings bar. There are about 12 different salsas and condiments you can choose from including tomatillo sauce, avocado n’ salsa, pickled onions & jalapenos, limes, chipolte ranch, and pico de gallo. These toppings help mask my dry chicken and elevated my Meh meal to a solid A-Okay+. No complaints with the rice, beans, and tortillas. Overall, I had higher hopes for this place but the lunch special is still a pretty solid meal for $ 4. I’ll probably come back and try the tacos sometime.

A friend took me here on a drive-thru run a week ago and I went back again yesterday craving their pollo tacos al pastor. I never would have gone here on my own initially. It doesn’t look like my «sort» of place. But, you know what they say about judging books by their covers. I even went online after the first visit and checked out their City of Dallas Health Department inspection scores. All very respectable. Better than their sister locations, too. In fact, Abrams was the highest-scoring of all of this chain’s locations in Dallas. I give props to: — the taste — the freshness of ingredients — the portion size — the friendliness of drive-thru staff — the speed of order — the thoughtful condiments(half a lime, tasty sauces in leak-proof cups) I will go back again because the chicken was flavorful and left me feeling satisfied. It’s such a better alternative to traditional fast food. Just wish they were in a better part of town! Enjoy!

This place is a pretty good place for some down and dirty tacos. Located off Abrams and Walnut Hill in the hood, you know this place had to be half decent just by looking at the surroundings.(I equate dirty and ghettoness to good food…) Carnitas tacos for $ 5.99. Hmmm… pretty good deal actually. It came with 5 tacos that were double layered with corn tortillas and a generous portion of pork on the inside. Accompanied is a handful of cilantro, handful of diced onions, and some hot sauce I didn’t care much for. They also have a salsa bar that is pretty cool. Definitely liked the greenish, creamy looking salsa. A hint of spice and a nice texture to my tacos. I just wish the pork was less fatty and more flavorful. I felt really bad about myself after eating these. Luckily, I was visiting my chripractor right afterwards, so kabam, I felt straight again. But anyways, I am definitely going to try this place again, but next with chicken tacos. Will further review and see if this place has anything wrong with it’s prostate.

It’s a converted Jack in the Box on the corner of Abrams and 635, and it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Loo across the highway and you’ll see McDonald’s, Whataburger, Chick Fil a… drive past these fast food staples and give this place a shot. They run a lunch special of a half chicken, rice, beans, and a drink for about 7 dollars. The chicken is gently spiced, and oh so tender. The beans had some heat, and while I was a little ooged out by the meat(boiled bacon is not appetizing to look at) it is incredibly tasty. The rice is very good too, especially if you take some juice from the beans and mix it together. You also get far too many corn tortillas, and they are good. They have a salsa bar as well, I just wish they’d labelled the items available. The only one with a label was the habanero salsa. After eating here I know I’m coming back, but next time I’ll try the barbacoa tacos.

Humans, on the whole, are lazy creatures. And by humans, I mean me. I loves me some good eatin’, but I’m often too lazy to make it for myself and I’m even often too lazy to clean myself up enough to be presentable for even a fast food joint. These are just statements of fact; they, indeed, have nothing to do with the wonder that is El Pollo Regio, but contribute to how this casa of magical meats grasped a prime spot on my current«goto» list for when hunger strikes and the laze has me in it’s grasp. My first jaunt to El Pollo Regio was quite eye-opening. From looking at the website first and then the drive-thru menu, it could be safe to say that an «objects are larger than they appear» label to both. A half chicken and two carne asada tacos were ordered and I pulled around to the window(like you do) to gather my spoils from talking to the electronic box. Boy howdy! I was passed several large bags with what felt like enough food to feed me and the Mrs. for at least a snowed-in weekend if needed. Apparently the carne asada tacos are ginormous and packed to the breaking with succulent beefy bits, and sided with a grilled whole jalapeño that really added to the whole package. Two weren’t necessary, but my eggs the next morning were more than happy to have an accompanyment. The chicken damn near made me weep. You could definitely tell this joint spent a good amount of time watching bird carcasses spiral around each other in the tasty dance that is magical rotisserie. Hell, you could smell the wood smoke in the drive-thru and it didn’t disappoint. Almost better than the chicken was the magically roasted onion tucked in with the bird. If it wouldn’t get me relegated to the couch for the night, I could eat those all day. Of special note are the sauces that accompany just about everything ordered at Regio: one red and one green. The red is straight up freshy fresh salsa that I really appreciate in a zip-through joint like Regio. This stuff blows away what Cabana has to offer, by far. The green stuff, however, is delicious and evil all at the same time. I’m not sure what is in the opaque green creamy stuff, but it tastes like what slamming your hand in the car door would be if it felt good. This stuff burned the hell out of my lips and throat, but I couldn’t stop eating it. The chicken sure didn’t need the benefit of a sauce: it was just super tasty. I almost forgot, the chicken came with a big ol’ cup of charro beans with real pork fat in it(yum yum yum) and some of the best«spanish» rice I’ve had since Rosa’s over in Midland. In addition, a stack of enough corn tortillas to keep me happy for a couple of days. The whole half of a chicken went bye-bye pretty damn quick, but the tortillas lasted me. With such a wide array of diverse menu items, I’m not sure if I’m going to get sick of Regio for quite a long while.
