Okay everyone! The sno cone place has moved out of Doc’s food store and is located right next door! Still the amazing sno cons you love and enjoy but in a nicer store front… Sorry Doc’s. Apparently their new store hours are 11 am to 10 pm(which my wife loves!) oh and they now take CC! The sno is shaved ice not the crushed kind. If you have never tried a sno cone from this pace I highly recommend the«natural» sno cones. Made with puréed fruit! Yum! My favorite is the one with fruit chunks in the sno cone… Don’t forget the cream! Hope you find this helpful.

My son’s had a friend over after school and he suggested that we go by Doc’s for a snow cone. My answer«you mean that convenience store that’s a little dicey near Central Expressway?». I decided, what the heck, let’s check it out. Well, the line was 20 people deep so I thought this must be a hidden gem tucked away in a run down store. The all natural flavors are a must. And be sure to get the«sour blast». A squeeze of lime that makes the flavor pop! YUM. I have been dreaming of Doc’s snowballs all summer and haven’t made it by yet… after writing this review I may pop on over and get my fix.

Who would’ve thought this seedy-looking convenient store was serving one of the best snow cones I’ve ever had?! I had one with natural flavoring instead of syrup — mango and papaya… incredible! My fiancé had the pineapple natural flavoring which was out of this world! Will definitely be hitting this spot regularly this summer!

Best snow-balls in Dallas. Only thing is they ran out of natural strawberry in August and never got it back! The guy that runs it is a little curt. But the other helpers are extremely nice and make up for it. Natural flavors are perfect– WHENAVAILABLE

I am still undecided about whether Doc’s will become a summertime regular for me. I went there with a friend a few weekends ago when it was EXTREMELY hot outside and nothing sounded better than a snowcone. My treat was definitely refreshing, just not completely satisfying. Doc’s food store is an interesting location for a snow cone stand — inside a check-cashing/convenience store. Oh well, if they have good snow cones, I don’t care where they’re located! I was a little underwhelmed by Doc’s for a few reasons: 1. The syrup to ice ratio was a bit heavy — this is a good thing for people who like their syrup thick, but for me, it was a bit much. Too sweet, too sticky… still yummy, but not ideal. 2. The ice wasn’t as finely shaved as I would like. I really want my snow cones to be like fresh, powdery snow. In the snow cone I ordered that day, there were a few large clumps of ice that were impossible to break up with my spoon. So, that was just wasted space in my cup! I will give them the benefit of the doubt, though, since it was almost closing time on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe I got the dregs of the ice from the whole day. Here is why I will be back to Doc’s: 1. I always try to give places a second chance before making my final call on whether or not it will become a regular stop for me. 2. They boast a few all-natural flavors that are made from real fruit with no preservatives. I have the feeling that I am really going to like these because they will be less sweet and more guilt-free! I am looking forward to returning to try one of these flavors. I hope to post an update soon, raving about the natural syrup flavors and finely shaved ice!

We’ve been looking for some good snowballs for a while and have finally found them in Doc’s Food Store. The snowball stand inside is better than any I’ve had in Dallas. The ice is perfect — like fresh snow rather than crushed ice as many places do it. They have a pretty extensive menu of flavors along with some interesting fruit salad offerings. My girlfriend had a banana and piña colada snowball and I had the nectar, a flavor that is usually pretty hard to find outside of New Orleans. The girl working the counter told me they only added it last year after people kept asking for it, and they nailed it. Next flavor they need to add? Spearmint.
