Stop in at lunch and had the special. The Westerner sandwich with pulled pork and sausage with two sides and drink. Wow. The meat was goood and a little spicy. It put a smile on my face. Good value and good food. Yum.

I go to the Dickeys off Forest all the time. This being a chain you would think you could expect the same kind of food and service. First off I know its a small detail but they don’t serve your dine in on a big plate you have to get small plates for the sides. The guy serving us seemed he was very displeased with his day and explained things very bluntly. The meat portion was noticeably smaller. The soda machines were 70% out of order. The rolls were not soft. I could go on and on about the details but the main point is I was dissatisfied with the food and service.

What we had hoped for was a nice friendly Bbq lunch – and although the smoked turkey I had was very good, that is the extent to which I can pay this restaurant any compliments. We stopped there because one of our party wanted Bbq and this place got a 5 star rating according to the GPS on my phone. I am not sure who rated it 5 stars but I would beg to differ with their conclusions. For me, this place had a sort of out-dated fast food feel. The menus appeared to be laminated poster board and hung from the wall in such a position that they were difficult to read. The serve-yourself side dishes were spilling out from their pans and I Found both the Jalapeño Beans and the Potato Salad that I chose to be less than appetizing.

Great atmosphere cozy/sourthern. The waiters and the managers seem super nice and welcoming. Food was great! Open on Sundays is a plus.

There is definitely better BBQ out there. All the food is mediocre. Whatever you get must be doused in sauce in order to be eaten enjoyably. Chain stores always feel a little mass produced to me, this place tasted it too.

thought I’d be walking into a Texas tradition steeped high with rustic culture; I was hoping for an experience to write home about. I guess I set my expectations too high. Can we say high school cafeteria? Or for some, maybe a New York Bodega: grab a plastic tray and go! And only two styles of BBQ sauce to choose from. I don’t think I’ll be going back. Peggy-Su’s BBQ still stands out as tops in my book for BBQ in Dallas, but a friend mentioned Rudy’s(still have to check it out).

How can you not love a place where you order by the number of meats you want??? At the recommendation of my coworkers I had the«two-meat» special and I tried the brisket and the ribs. BBQ sauce on the side. You get a roll as well. Then two sides — I had Fried Okra and Mac-n-Cheese, but you can choose from about 10 – 12 options. I think my two-meat special was around $ 8 and certainly a late dinner was in order that night because we were stuffed all afternoon. I’m sure locals are very familiar with Dickey’s but if you are visiting the area for business or pleasure, I would recommend giving one of the many locations a try.
