Nice place, clean and friendly staff. I had the cheeseburger and sweet potato waffle fries.

After many months of saying, ‘I need to try this place out’, tonite was the time. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sammie with fries and it did not disappoint. The roll was great! So many places get the roll wrong. Very friendly guy waiting to take my order AND brought it to my table when done. Not busy tonite. I really hope this place stays, because we need a good burger place in LH.

The service and the fries are both excellent. Couldn’t ask for better. The burger, their namesake and self proclaimed«best in town» is not the best. The burger tastes frozen and is too ‘neat’. This is not a homemade patty or full of exciting ingredients — the burger is bland and relies in self-picked ingredients to shine.

Great burger joint. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries. Bun was nicely toasted and did not fall apart. Bacon was crisp and flavorful. Burger was charred perfectly. Pickles were really substantial and added to the overall taste. The fries were not greasy and tasted home made. I am glad I stopped in.

On a recent trip to Dallas, my friend Jerry and I visited Deep South Burger. We were actually just looking for a nearby place to eat and noticed Deep South Burger with a large standing waving banner proclaiming«Best Burgers In Town». Well now we had to stop! The interior is decorated much like any typical burger joint. There is a long walkway along the wall that leads to a register with a large«menu» on the wall above. Above the menu were 3 large letters«D S B». Texans are quite proud of their state and there is a large painting of the Texas state flag on one wall as well as an actual flag above the self-serve drink area. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who never stopped smiling. He answered our questions about their burgers and showed us what topings and condiments were available. They have a very simple menu which consisted of various burgers including but not limited to Cheese, Avocado, Bacon, Chopped Steak & Egg, Chilli, Green Chiles, and Vegan Burgers. They also had«new» Philly Cheesesteaks, Corn Dog and Tater tots. Next is their list of Toppings, fresh cut fries and onion rings. Jerry and I got the combo deal of burger, fries and drink. He ordered the bacon cheeseburger with ghost pepper cheese, lettuce, mustard, mayo and fries. I ordered the avocado burger with fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos, mayo and tater tots. Our food arrived promptly in small baskets on top of lined paper. Our burgers arrived freshly cooked! You could almost see the steam rising off the fries. Jerry said his burger was delicious and his ghost pepper wasn’t very hot but had a nice kick. His burger also had 4 generous slices of bacon crisscrossed on top of his burger. My burger was similarly delicious! The fried egg was cooked just right without anything oozing although I would not have minded a soft yolk center. It was probably about a quarter pound burger with the slices of fresh avocado, lettuce and tomato underneath. The grilled onions and mushrooms were on top with the fried egg as king of the mountain. As I mentioned, my burger was outstanding! It was after all, my very own custom burger with my choice of toppings. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium. The combination of the fresh avocados, grilled onions and mushrooms was wonderful. The fried egg just made it perfect. Even my tater tots were fried to perfection. And one of the best parts about my burger was their toasted buttered buns! The entire ensemble was delicious. This has got to be one of Dallas’ hidden secrets. I’m sure there are many many«burger joints» in Dallas, but this place lives up to its banner outside«Best Burgers In Town». When I return to Dallas, I’m definitely going back.

My boyfriend and I frequent this place for their veggie burgers; Ah-making! From the toppings to the toasted bun and French fries seasoned just right, I give this place two thumbs up! Can’t speak on the beef since I don’t eat it, but the staff is always friendly and our food is always delivered directly to our table :)

If you’re hungry for a burger and fries, this little place we’ll be a very pleasant surprise. I ordered the 1⁄3 lb cheese burger with ghost pepper cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onion, jalapeño peppers and mayonnaise for the sauce. I also ordered a small home fries and sweet potato fries too. let me tell you this, what I was served rivals all the big players, all of them, including places like GiGi’s and Burger Street, which are both nearby. I would not choose another place over this one, now that I know what this place offers. there is nothing that I was served, that was not very close to the best burger joint food I have ever ordered. the veggies were very fresh, peppers were spicy, ghost pepper cheese was spicy, pickles were crispy deli style, bread was soft and not too thick, burger patty was not overly greasy, I mean I could go on and on, I’m looking forward top my next visit that’s for sure. You really should stop in and check’em out for yourself.

If you’re driving down skillman you can’t miss the two flags in front of store. I decided to come because I am a burger fan and I have to try different burgers. The decoration in the store is literally Texas. With the name being Deep South Burger, I thought it would be some hip hop burger joint. I ordered the avocado burger with sweet potato waffle fries. The burger was great! I like how the rims of the buns were crisp. The meat wasn’t too overcooked either. The most exciting part was when you get to choose the type of cheese you want in your burger. Out of all the choices I chose blue cheese! It may sound gross but that blue cheese sure did add a good taste to the burger. The waffle fries were so good that I couldn’t help eating just that. Just in case you are thinking of stopping by they have a valpak offer going on now

My new fav place. Love the avocado burger. The restaurant is near to my home so when I saw the«Grand Opening» sign, I thought I would support a local business owner. I ordered the Avocado hamburger and it was excellent. It reminded me or ‘Hop doggie’ but cheaper. I have since gone back almost weekly and have told neighbors about it.

i would say 3.5 stars is about right. A decent burger that is not so huge you could not possibly finish the whole thing. I like the habanero cheese, nice and spicy. The fries are excellent and the small order is a lot of fries. The hot dog was also good. Friendly staff, clean and there is a TV to distract you while you wait. Good fit for Lake Highlands.

I love this place, and hope to come here for years to come; but there are never many customers. The McDonald’s in the same parking lot is always packed, but not this wonderful, locally owned business… do yourself a favor, give it a try, and then tell your friends… don’t let another great local business die because of apathy and bad reviews. Also, some other reviews mentioned cleanliness problems… I did some service work here, and have been in hundreds of commercial kitchens around the world. The reason I ate here the first time was that I was impressed at how clean the kitchen is. I can verify that the kitchen is one of the cleanest in Dallas.

Great place! Did not really expect this place to be as delicious as it was. Fries were really fresh along with the vegetables. I enjoyed the choices that are available to pile up on your burger. Giving it four stars instead of five only cause the beef patty should be a bit thicker.

To be honest sometimes it’s a hit and sometimes it’s a miss. The customer service is never lacking and the place is always spotless. Most times I have been it has definitely been a hit. That was today. Definitely a hit. Burger had juice everywhere. Fries were meh but they were hot so it was totes cool. Pickles were awesome and bacon is cooked just right. I’ll keep coming back.

Despite the negative reviews, my family and I had a very good experience here. We were greeted by a sweet younger gentleman who was patient with us as we decided on what to order. Here’s what: 1. Décor– No frills. You serve your own drinks and retrieve utensils, condiments, etc on your own. Clean and reminds you of a burger joint in a small town in South Texas. Oh wait… it is called Deep South Burger. Duh. 2. Food– we ordered three different burgers: one with bacon, a kids burger, and then two with errrrrrrythang. The buns held together despite all the yummy goodness we put on them. The jalapeños were my favorite addition. The bacon was also crispy and salty piggy goodness. The patties, although flavorful, made me wonder if they were previously frozen. It just didn’t taste like freshly made patties, and they were too perfectly formed if you know what I mean. Good nonetheless. We tried the sweet potato fries, regular fries, and onion rings. Fave award goes to the regular fries. Others were fine, too. 3. Service-sweet, the cooks were my favorite. Came to check on us several times. We will return.

Every Burger shop has a bad day. The consensus of my family is try another burger place. When my wife and grandson showed up to try Deep South Burger this week, Deep South Burger was having a bad day. There are just too many good, consistent Burger shops in our area. For example, you can go down one exit off LBJ to Varsity Grill on Abrams, which was selected by Advocate readers as the BESTBURGER in Lake Highlands. My wife and grandson won’t be going back to Deep South, because they have other favorites in the neighborhood. They tried Deep South Burger, and the burgers that afternoon were NOT worth a return visit.

I don’t give two stars lightly… but, this is warranted. In fact one is probably more appropriate, but since we didn’t even have a chance to order, much easier eat, to the runner. Three stars for the facility and cleanliness. Nothing else justified, average of 2 rounded! In fact, my barely acknowledged wait at the counter was epic in its length. I italicize epic. Arrived at 1:20 p.m. on 11/2…half full restaurant one customer in line. No one at register… he appeared after several moments to take customer’s order, then looked at me and said«I’ll be with you in just a second»…he then proceeded to not appear… not at 1:30, not at 1:35, not at 1:40. Awkward looks from me around dining room… noticed several tables waiting for food. So, after making an executive decision, forego giving them my money as once it’s spent, I was concerned a further debacle was in my future. It was 1:43…ouch. So, after no further ado and no acknowledgement of our presence, we decided to vacate our party of four and move on to J.G.‘s. Deep South has a bleak future if this is what to expect.

Great food and great people! I don’t need someone to bring me my food to my table, I have hands, feet and a brain to go get it myself. The food was tasty, the cashier was super nice and very funny and the guys at the kitchen were just lovely. They made my experience very warming and thanked us for coming. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with avocado and my boyfriend ordered a double cheeseburger. The meat was well seasoned and tasty. The fries were crispy and not too salty. I did not taste the milkshakes. I will come back when I’m on this side of town rather than going to a franchise restaurant.

Good burgers. The menu isn’t huge, which is a good thing. Don’t try to do too much! I had a chili cheese burger, and my wife had a cheeseburger with the habanero cheese. Pretty spicy, but not painfully so.
