Deep Ellum Dog Park

Great for an inner city dog! Plenty of space to run. Tons of poop bag stations and waste receptacles to keep it clean. Yes, it’s a little noisy– for crying out loud it’s under the highway! But the dogs don’t seem to mind. Besides, if you live in the city especially nearby, this sound should be familiar to your dog. Yes, there are quite a few mines, but if this is a busy place then it doesn’t surprise me some folks missed the planting of these ‘devices’. Is there dirt? Yes, but who cares? Your dog doesn’t ! All in all, great use of this city space! Great job keeping it stocked! And we loved the art!

Not recommended. This park is very noisy as it is surrounded by freeways and busy downtown streets. Very little grass (mostly dirt) and poop everywhere. Parking is a nightmare and park is not easy accessible.

I like this dog park, especially since it’s close to where I live. Only thing is, if you have a smaller dog, go during the morning or middle of the day. It seems that owners with larger dogs don’t seem to care if their dog attacks you. I don’t enjoy being bitten or jumped on and neither does my dog. Either learn how to train your dog or don’t bring them here.

A nice dog park for the location. It is shaded very well and has a lot of open space for the pups to play, and benches to take a seat. My dogs love playing here. But, they often need a good bath after our visits.

Excellent neighbhorhood dog park to take your pup pal! This is a large, dog-​friendly park right underneath the overpass on the corner of Canton and Good Latimer streets. Fido will love frolicking with his new pup friends and they will have a paw-​tastic time. A lot of owners like to walk over with a cup of coffee while their pooches play for hours. Your pup will be sure to thank you after his long nap afterwards!

This park is in a great location but in need of a facelift. I stopped taking my dogs here because of how dirty they were getting due to the lack of grass! If you and your dog don’t mind playing in a dirt/​dust bowl this is the park for you.

Urban dog park under the overpass. A nice area carved out of downtown’s hussle and bussel, spacious and clean and doesn’t smell of dog poo. Plenty of seating for pet parents and shade with a water fountain near the entrance. Half grass, half dirt. A bit noisy from the cars passing overhead but my pet did not seem to mind.
A great perk is walking down to the nearby restaurants which most allow pets on the patios.

With 3 dogs, we are always searching for places to exercise our pups. This place is sufficient! We love the feel of the park! There is plenty of room. Parking is metered but it’s pretty cheap (.25 for 30mins). We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was 4 other dogs there as well. There are lots of poop stations, benches, and the overpass provides plenty of shade!
We will be returning!

Deep Ellum Dog Park is at least spacious! Plenty of room to play fetch with your pooch, and enough space to accommodate crowded weekend mornings. There’s mulch on one side of the park, and grass/​mostly dirt on the other side. It’s mostly completely all under two underpasses so if you’re dog is skittish, this may not be the park for you. It’s not separated either, so if you’re dog doesn’t do well with small/​big dogs, whatever they may be, you should take that into consideration — it’s usually a lot of bigger dogs when I’ve stopped by. I suggest parking on Henry and walking over, if it’s before 6pm.
The art on the underpass pillars is contributed by a local high school, if I’m not mistaken, and is definitely a highlight of the park. There benches shaped like dog bones, too, which I think is a pretty cute touch. Plenty of poop bag stations, and I’ve only been once when the bags needed to be replaced in a couple of them. That’s pretty good in my experience, and I’m at the dog park at least twice a week.
I can’t give more stars because I hate all the dirt, and the mulch smells like SURPRISE! Dog pee! I assume parking would be a huge issue after 6PM as well. Great resource for people who live within walking distance though!

Awesome place for my dog to release his energy! So much space for me to throw a ball. Lots of trash cans, bags, and a water fountain. There are some clue less parents who bring their toddlers here though which ruins everyone’s fun because they take their dogs out to avoid a possible law suit god forbid a dog jumps on them. And though great how it’s such a huge park-​some parents don’t pay attention to their dogs.

Last night my boyfriend and I brought our 7 month old German Shepherd mix Lucy to this dog park for her first time and she loved it! Although she’s only 7 months old she is already a medium sized dog and got along well with the dogs her size and even tried to instigate with dogs bigger than her. We got there in the evening, about 7 and it was well-​lit after the sun went down which I wasn’t sure about while driving there. The park is a good enough space where its big enough for all the dogs to run around but small enough to see your dog at the other side. We don’t mind that there aren’t any obstacles for the dogs to play in since the main reason why we bring her is to release some energy and meet new friends. We enjoyed this park and will be going about once a week now!

Since our beloved white rock dog park is under construction, we have been looking high and low for a suitable substitute. We found the Deep Ellum Dog Park completely by chance– it is tucked away under 75. Parking is a little hard to find as well, but there seems to be a corner of a warehouse parking lot that corresponds to the northwest corner of the park.
I like that the park is relatively large and gives our hyperactive dog a chance to use up his energy. The columns and walls around it are painted and quite entertaining to look at while the dogs play. It is one park for all sizes, but the dogs that are here today all play nicely with one another.

It’s goose as dog parks go. Usually, clean. The main problem is parking, there isn’t a parking lot so you have to find a meter.

This is a GREAT dog park!
Huge, expansive area for those dogs that want to run and chase. It will surely give your pup a nice workout.
There are benches, fountains for the dogs, just one dog play structure, and again… lots of space.
After reading several other reviews… the freeway noise isn’t an issue, there are muddy spots, but it’s a huge space, so it happens, and it’s in between downtown and Deep Ellum, so yes, metered parking… just find free parking a couple blocks away and walk. Finally… I read one that said this was a dirty park… not true! I encountered very few «land mines» and that could be from simply losing track of your pooch in the large space.
People are friendly and the fences and gates appear to be in pretty good shape. There is even art and sculptures to admire.
Only a couple things keep this from being a prefect park… there’s only one dog structure… there’s plenty of space for a couple more or even a pond or similar water feature. The other down side is an upside… it is a huge space… can be easy to lose track of your pet for clean up or general safety.
I highly recommend a visit here!

This dog park has it all: an «airlock» cage with leash hooks, hand-​painted art for dogs to pee on, a ramp that goes up to a platform, poop stations (that always have bags), and wood chips that look exactly like dog poop so you get to hunt around for something to pick up. As long as I get some dog’s poop, I count it, even if it’s not my dog’s.
For a hyper-​urban dog park, this place beats Main St Gardens by a mile. So glad it’s here.

grrrrrr why dont you have separate fences? I have a 15 pound west highland terrier and she doesnt get along with some big dogs!!! She feels threaten if they come close and its unpredictable. I just dont want her to get intimidated and start barking at them. Might cause a dog fight and oh no, we are not having that. I had to keep her on a leash the whole time lol.
other than that it’s pretty clean. and there’s water fountain for them.

I feel so lucky to live next to such a great dog park. Primo– my Shih Tzu– loves it here. We tried it out a few days ago for the first time and I was beyond pleased. For starters, the place is HUGE. It is a large grassy field fenced in under the expressway which provides a great opportunity for your dog to get some exercise. Additionally the artwork on the pillars are creative and beautiful. Really adds a nice touch to the space.
The people are friendly, diverse and welcoming. I met several people who informed me of the park’s hours and other details (Mondays are closed for clean up).
Lastly, the dogs are well behaved. Initially I was a little apprehensivebecause a neighbor told me that there was no designated section for small dogs. I had a positive experience, however. Primo was comfortable playing with the larger dogs and there were plenty of little ones his size there as well.
In a nutshell, all dogs breeds and all people are welcome at Bark Park. I highly recommend trying this place out. Ideal space for the urban dog owner!

I have to warn that I do not own a dog. I went with a friend to walk her dog.
I live real close by and have passed the dog park on a few long walks and was excited to go in and see the interaction. I don’t view parking as being an issue ever… there is street parking and a lot that should be free.
There just seemed to be this understanding among owners (not too busy) and the dogs… an unspoken ettiquette, maybe?
Let me be honest, if I had a dog… I would take it here. (:

I think this is actually one of the better spaces. I’m thinking people would walk here with some doggies, but I suppose the parking could be an issue. It’s a sizable space from what I’ve seen around downtown and they are working on the mud issue. I uploaded some pics today, including one were you can see them filling in the former mud pit with chips.
It was a federal holiday monday off for me, so I took the kid down to check out the space. It’s just over a hot mile walk for us, but seemed worth it to me. Fenced in, open, a little noisy if you want to chat with people… but all in all not a bad place. Not segregation of small to large pooches, which could pose an issue for the tiny scared dog.
I didn’t notice any poo issue, so maybe they have cleaned up their act? Also, I’m totally down with this being under a freeway, I mean what a better use of space in a transition zone (from downtown to Deep Ellum). It would otherwise be some mess of concrete, so I think this was a great idea!

Disclaimer: am not a pet owner but I have frequented dog parks quite a bit. Headed here Sunday morning (10ish) when I was visiting Dallas.
Pros:
— Very large enclosed space where my bf’s little buddies could run wild.
— Bone-​shaped benches to chill on.
— Lots of free tennis balls lying around.
— People and dog water fountains.
— Vending machine with pet items — cool idea.
— We had the place to ourselves. It was like our own giant backyard.
Cons:
— Paid meter street parking (even on a Sunday)
— Its under the freeway (but I was there for the dogs, not to sunbathe, so who cares?)
— Not everyone picks up their poop. The poop-​per-​square-​footage ratio wasn’t that bad, just noticeable. Somewhat forgiven because you cant always see your pup given the layout of the spot.
— Small puddle of water and muddy area. It was however marked with a cone (not that dogs give a rat’s, but it’s helpful to owners).
— We had the place to ourselves. No pups to play with :-(
All in all, I was pleased.
