Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs gave me a great goodbye present. What a way to end the year and close the books on my time in TX but an absolute crushing of the reigning NBA champs. Dirk you looked so spry. I’ll miss you.

I had a blast at the Mavs game. They did everything right. There was constant action which I love. Besides the game being close and exciting and the team itself having incredible talent, the supporting media and host were outstanding. There was never a dull moment. This is how I used to feel at hockey games… Just grinning ear to ear the whole time. I loved the creative video clips, crowd participation and the music. I want a playlist! I think my love for basketball has been ignited again.

Love the venue, Love the team. Dirk is man.

I remember the days when Dallas Mavericks were an automatic win on the schedule. Great owner. Dirk is the best player in the franchise’s history. Nice arena off the downtown. Mavs got it going on there in Dallas.

I love the walk from the parking lot into the stadium. When you enter the people are so nice. The ease to walk around and find everything was wonderful. You have several choices of food, snacks and drinks. It’s a little bit pricy, it that’s they way stadium food is. I really did like the guy that served drinks while you are seated. He was super nice. He kept coming by to check on us!

Okay, I had to get that out of the way. I can’t help but love the Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban unconditionally, and let me tell you why. Not only do I consider them the best team in the NBA no matter what, but they are also the most amazingly giving team I’ve ever had to privilege to work with.
Part of my job and love is working with various organizations in the city that focus on kids, especially kids that are food and housing insecure. It has never failed that I’ve seen donations from the players or them actually involved in events that make these beautiful children’s faces just light up with glee.
My latest experience was chaperoning this year’s Turkey Dunk benefiting the kids with Rainbow Days. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was seeing the players interact with the kids. They genuinely had fun and really helped the ones that were really shy relax and get the full experience. All of the players were just so supportive and were so nice to everyone. The level of humility, even from Rick Carlisle himself was awesome. Some of the boys were super excited to be able to talk game plays with him.
So yeah, of course the Mavericks are automatically my favorite team due to me cheering them on since the early 80’s when their uniforms were that really awesomely awful green while growing up, but as an adult they are my favorite due to what they accomplish on and off the court.

Haters be gone! Everyone said the Mavs would never win the big one with Dirk and Mark Cuban involved in the franchise, and they can now eat their words nice and rare with a side of french-​fried guilt.
I’ve been a fan since I was 11 years old and living in upstate New York. My dad told me about this tall white guy who could shoot 3’s and was making waves in the NBA. It didn’t take long for my mood to start being dictated whether the Mavs won or lost and I saved every newspaper box score in a scrapbook.
I’ve stuck with them throughout the roller-​coaster ride. I’ve stayed strong even when I lived in LA, surrounded by taunting Laker fans (I even painted myself and brought a sign to a Clippers game once). I’ve experienced the worst things a sports fan can experience in 2006, 2007 and other years.
But the ultimate relief came this year, and I cherish the fact I was able to sit in the sixth row for the Western Conference Finals opener and was able to bask in the glory with thousands of other fans at the AAC in the championship-​clinching Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Add the fact I’ve high-​fived Dirk twice (once in L.A., once in Dallas), and it’s safe to say my sports fan life is complete. MFFL!!!

Coming from a die hard Houston Rockets fan it was hard to cheer for a hated rival, but at the end of the day it was the lesser of the 2 evils. Since the day Lebron made his decision, I became a Lebron hater.
So when it was the western conference finals, I totally was cheering for Durant and the thunder to win so I could cheer for my fellow longhorn, but after the mavs pulled those crazy comebacks against them I was starting to be a fan.
Then when it was the mavs vs the lamebrons, it was no thinking about it, gotta rep TEXAS, first. After the finals, I got mad props for Dirk, and even CUBAN, calmed down.
Congrats. You guys deserved it.

I always likened my Mavs to a girl that breaks your heart, but you always go back to her. Then in 2011, she grew up, got wiser, dug deep for heart that was always there, and with some sweet German engineering finally got you that ring.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US.

Yowser. Has it REALLY been 32 years since Donald Carter brought NBA basketball to Big ‘D’. Holy crap I’m getting old!
I have to admit that being a long time Maverick’s fan since being a boy growing up in Richardson — it has NOT been easy;
— early growing pains of an expansion Team,
— the Kiki Vandeweghe ‘snub’ of 1980 (I still freaking hate that guy),
— Roy Tarpley’s repeated abuse of drugs and of the Mav’s ‘disciplinary program’,
— the ‘Dark Ages’ of the ’90’s (no playoff appearances) vs. the ‘quick success’ of The Stars (hockey) — in comparison,
— trading Steve Nash in 2004,
— losing to the Miami Heat in 2006 NBA Finals (after leading 2 – 0)
I thought we were THERE in 1998 winning the Western Conference Finals in 1988 (Mark Aguirre, Brad Davis, Rolando Blackman, Derek Harper, Sam Perkins and Detlef Schrempf).
Now, in 2011, the Mavericks have finally won the big one — AND while Donald Carter was still around to see it. It was great to also get a ring for J Kid and Dirk Diggler, led by 27 points by J. Terry. To top it off, Mark Cuban did it with class.
Totally. Freaking. Awesome!

I don’t think there is anyway the championship could have been sweeter-​Dirk gets his ring, revenge on the Heat, beating the «Rock Stars» of the NBA, exhibiting a true team dynamic (the rest of the team picking up the slack for Dirk for three quarters last night). It was just an all around great season from a team that had great chemistry and never counted themselves out-​no matter what the prevailing thoughts of the sports pundits.
Congratulations on a season that almost no one who wasn’t in the locker room could see coming. It has been a great season to be a Mavs fan and my family had many a great night watching games this season. Congrats to Dirk, Kidd, Terry, Chandler, Marion, and the rest of the crew for giving Dallas a champion they can feel proud of.

Couldn’t be more proud of our NBA team. The spirit, heart, and talent they bring to the table is something that can’t be described or seen, but only felt. What they have done for Dallas speaks volumes in our now our civic pride, identity, and camaraderie. Not to mention, the games (Finals or not) are an unbelievable experience — they know how to keep their fans entertained and so happy that they hail from the Big D. From J.J. and the Jet to Dirk and the veteran, Jason Kidd, this team is a force to be reckon with. But more importantly, a team that reflects integrity and years of hard work that was finally rewarded tonight. Championship or not, this Maverick team is unforgettable.

Love the Mavs! I got to go to Game 5 of the NBA Finals last night. It was awesome. Everyone was so excited. I have never been to a game that everyone was so into and stood for so much of the game. Very fun. I was definitely a fan before but my fandom even increased by getting to be part of such a cool game.
Go Mavs! Beat the Heat!

I’ve been a huge fan of the Mavericks since the Finley, Nash, Nowitzki days (I dominated NBA Street back in the early Aughts using that epic 3 man team). As a Boston Celtics fan, I detest the Lakers, and I’ve always considered the Mavericks my west coast team… the team most likely to knock off my hated Lakers. There were a few rough years there right after Nash left, where they didn’t perform at the level I was used to, but duuuuudes, am I lovin’ the Mavericks right now!!!
Game three last night was epic. These guys are playing their hearts out and are one game away from sweeping the defending champs. I love it. Dirk has, what, like 13 consecutive games with 20+ points in the playoffs? Easily one of my favorite players in the league. I love a big guy who can shoot. Gasol has no clue how to defend him.
Jason Terry has to be one of the best players coming off the bench right now. Watching the Celtics lose to the Heat the last two games, I’m asking myself why on earth they traded Nate Robinson, another great sixth man. Then there’s Jason Kidd… he’s always amazing to watch. What a playmaker. The speed on some of those passes last night was insane. He’s always reminded me of Isaiah Thomas a little bit, one of my childhood heroes of the game. Thank goodness they’ve built another amazing team.
I can’t end the review without mentioning Mark Cuban, who is certainly my favorite owner in the league. Sure, he stirs the pot, but I love that he’s willing to say what needs said to get results. And if you’ve got the money to pay the fines, why not? I loved when he worked a Dairy Queen for a day after remarks from one of the officials… haha. Excellent rebuttal, Mark, excellent.

JJ Barea is my favorite nba player.

Isn’t if funny how all the bay area fans love to talk shit when they reached the playoffs in 2007? Golden State have been perennial bottom dwellers except for ONE successful season in a span of 17 years. So I guess that’s reason to celebrate. Well, the Mavs have had 11 straight seasons of 50+ wins if you count this year. We haven’t had problems WINNING. And how sad is it that you have to rate another team just so fans start talking noise because of one series? Sigh, Cali folks.
Are we rating the team or the fans? If we’re talking fans why is our house consistently packed where you struggle to give your tickets away? Enough said. The Mavs might have not won a championship in their short existence, but we have an owner that’s willing to spend and take risks in order to get to the next level. Have we gotten there yet? Nope, but we’re close and Cuban’s not going to quit until we get to the Promise Land. Once we’re there, we’ll never look back.
Run and tell that, homeboy.

What’s with all the pathetic California residents writing bad «reviews» in an attempt to insult the Mavs? What a sad life you must lead. Truth be told, Laker fans are the quickest to turn on their own when you suffer a loss. I can’t tell you how many times my Laker friends demand player trades when someone has an off night. Sad indeed.
Back to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Experience:
Mavs games are fun and exciting. It’s good entertainment for a wide demographic of people. Families can feel safe taking their kids to the games. Singles can enjoy the scene of hanging out at the Old #7 club after a game. Sure, some games are better than others depending on the opponent, but overall I’ve always had fun watching the Mavs play.
The Team:
The Mavs are probably the best NBA team to have never won a championship. Their day is coming. The faithful Mavs fans will continue to be patient and continue our support. Dirk and Kidd will be future Hall of Famers. The players in general keep out of trouble and represent the organization well. No one has ever been accused of rape (Kobe), been accused of being a Diva (LeBron) or ever been taken down by a Kardashian.

I’m not a huge b-​ball fan, but I had the opportunity to check out a Mav’s game the other day and it was a good time. I was seeing if anyone else had Unilocaled the Mavs when I came across this obviously riculous slam by a bunch of non-​Big D peeps (read: trash talkers) and thought I should give them a decent rating bc one star is a bunch of nonsense — even if they did loose the night I was there.
If you ever end up on the Admiral suite level — take advantage of the free chair massage — it was awesome. The dessert cart also offers some deliciousness. Chocolate shot glasses with baileys, amaretto, etc. Yum.
