A pueblo structure painted bright purple and stucco orange with a very Meso-American temple aspect, and a still water feature sits royally quiet. It’s unusual façade and large structure houses a non profit art museum that hosts thoughtfully curated shows, featuring local Latin artists and themes. One month I caught a series of photographs entitled«creating the dream — inside Mexican soap operas». I was intrigued. The next month, I went to the opening reception of a show that was abstract and contemporary by a young local artist colleague. A second exhibit opened the same night«tex mex kitchens of Dallas.» The show featured a complimentary buffet with locally produced queso, quesadillas and frozen margaritas. The line was out the door. The crowd was a mix of everyday locals and an older Latin populous for the tex-mex exhibit and a mix of Dallas art people, and amateur art lovers. The sense of community and relaxed atmosphere was the icing on the cake to the both well thought out and well executed shows that propelled it from my perception of a sort of community arts center to one of the more interesting and timely art galleries in Dallas.

The good Love the entrance design as i look around openness is welcoming. As i entered the theater and took my seat the stage is nice and open Nice. The area in Deep Ellum is inviting. And the dart runs right in front Great the orange and purple will have you saying hummmmmm!!! Nice. Nice Job. I will be back The bad… By looking from outside you would not image the view inside love the entrance. The sound is ok inside the theater. If you ever called now that can be a issue just voice message sooooo… The ugly… I have no comment nothing ugly about it

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot I can say about this venue. However I can tell you the main auditorium caters to 300 people. It’s not too bad but by looking on the outside you’d think the place could accommodate much more. They do have a parking lot on the side of live oak street which is great if you’re in deep ellum.(For those of you who know deep ellum, you’ll know that getting parking around that area can be difficult most times without paying $ 5.00 at least) I love the engineering design. Well, I guess I had more to say about it than I thought. Go me!

Sadly, I was not able to go inside as the day I visited the center itself was closed. Then why the 5 stars you ask? Because as I was driving by I saw the B _G sign out front. It was greatly placed in front of their purple walls. It made for a cool picture! Since the center was closed we were able to park right next to it for the photo op.

I saw in Dallas Child magazine that there was a cultural event here last weekend. I love free cultural events! I have always liked the building. It is burnt orange and purple, and it has so much personality. The inside is even better. It is beautful and has a nice feel to the layout. Unfortunately, there were no signs directing us to the different events, however, we wandered around and found cool stuff. We went to an auditorium, and there was an awesome band playing. My son loved the music, and the room had a happy feeling. It was standing room only, so we stood in the back and danced as children ran around and played near us. It was a family friendly event. There was face painting and snowcones. The line was pretty long for the face painting, so we skipped that. There was an exhibition called«Justicia: the Struggle for Mexican American Civil Rights in Dallas, Texas — 1920−2012» I learned a lot about the local Hispanic civil rights movement. My son ran around and played with other babies, and had fun while we read. The art exhibition was good quality work. It was called, «Malleable Forms: An Exploration of Texas Sculpture and Clay.» All in all, we had a fun time. I definitely want to return and see more of their events!

I went last Saturday to two exhibitions: one about the history of Morelos, a mexican hero that fought on the Independence War and the other one was about mexican photography. Both excellent exhibitions and the staff was really friendly. The arquitecture of this place also is a good representation of contemporary mexican, a nice job by Legorreta. Hope they have more exhibits in the future as good as this ones.
