Attention All Bargain Hunters! Descend! Descend! I have to start out by saying this location is a gem in the Habitat Restore crown. There is a huge selection of items you actually want and need and best of all they keep the inventory neat so that you don’t trip over a rake like a real life Itchy and Scratchy episode. They have tons of new(not used) stuff and apparently they’re proud of some items because they slap on Galleria price tags like there is no tomorrow. I come here to save big and high prices are a turn off in this type of store, I understand it’s for a good cause so I’ll let it slide. Also, there are frequently 25% –30% off deals so it actually works out if you time your purchase right. Anyway, I do find that the used items are in decent enough shape to buy and they do have a 30 day return policy which I love since most thrift stores will run you out of town if you try to bring something back. To summarize, if you have a new place or are making home improvements or if you just need tools or garden suppies, stop here first and you’ll stand to save compared to the big box stores. Happy shopping!

Habitat for Humanity is the non-profit project of President Jimmy Carter. This home store has new as well as gently up-cycled home decoration items. All proceeds go to building homes for hard working people looking to capture the American dream, home ownership. And who present doesn’t love giving others a hand up. Inventory varies from week to week & month to month, so keep checking back if at first nothing grabs your attention. Plus all of their merchandise is way below retail, everyone can appreciate a bargain.

Are you tired of sitting behind a desk working for the man? Is your skin so pasty white that you have trouble determining if you’re wearing shirt or if you’re topless? Do your friends have more interesting lives than you? Are you currently unemployed and need to keep off the streets? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Habitat for Humanity is for you. I’ve been volunteering with Habitat for the past 11 years and love it. You’ll get to meet the same people week to week, while also getting a chance to meet new people as well. It’s the best of both worlds. Everyone is out there to volunteer, so most everyone’s hearts are in the right place and that’s rare. Every once in a while, you’ll have someone that’s court ordered, but even the two or three I’ve worked with were pretty nice. If you don’t think you’re handy, Habitat will teach you how to do it. If you’re looking to fix up your house, come out and learn on the houses, before you do it on yours. We don’t mind teaching, it’s what we do every week. Habitat houses are not given away, the homeowners go through a rigorous application process and once approved, they must pay a zero-interest mortgage on the house. Those payments go directly to building more houses. Crime drops, tax bases go up, graduation rates go up and neighborhoods are revitalized. If you don’t like manual labor, perhaps this isn’t for you. There are opportunities to volunteer at the office. I hope I’ve convinced you to give Habitat a try. Hope to see you out on site!
