All I needed to do was pick up a pair of contacts but his associate insisted I book another appointment to check fitting, despite no change in contact brand or prescription. I took the 4p appointment, notified work and put in a request to leave work an hour early. I drove in traffic for an hour to make the appointment but no one was in the office. No apologies or common courtesy was given. They could even make a simple phone call or voicemail to cancel my appointment EVENTHOUGH the staff knew the doctor had been out for several days prior. I left word that I was not pleased with the optical agent would passed along the message and still NOCALL was made to me. I had to call for an explanation and reschedule. I insisted that they release the contacts to me when they arrived w/o an appointment. Do you think I got a phone call when they came in? Absolutely not. I had to call myself and check. They had arrived days before but no one called me. The best they could offer was«sorry» and to sell me a pair of eyeglasses at cost. So I can take more time off work to make appointment? No, thank you! I’ll take my business elsewhere. I was forced to give the minimum of one star.

So I picked this place because it was close to my job. I had read the reviews on here before but I gave them a shot anyway. It’s a very dull environment. When you walk in the desk help is super bland and shows no emotion. The doctor is kind of rude and his hand is very shaky, which made me nervous because he’s dealing with my eyes! I went to them February 2014 and I will not be coming back. When I ordered contacts I took 3weeks to pick them up and in that time period they only bothered to leave a voicemail once they came in and didn’t try to call again after that. What if I hadn’t gotten the voicemail? Anyway, there’s too much competition out there for mediocre service. I do not recommend.

I just gave an ophthalmologist referral for my daughter’s school friend who has astigmatism. I hesitated before giving Dr. Penick’s name as an alternative to my first pick. Why? You see, I was a patient of Dr. Penick’s going back to 1982. I moved out of state then moved back to Dallas 9 yrs later and back to Penick I go… until 2002 when his office lost my patient file and no one in the office, including Dr. Penick, knew that I was a patient until I called about my annual exam. Never mind that I had been a patient of Dr. Penick’s for 20 yrs. He knows his stuff and my eyes are majorly f’ed up so I put up with him. But I can never list him as my «go to» eye doc cause the fact is… he’s somewhat of a douchebag. His employees can’t stand him and his patients tolerate him because of his talent. I finally gave up on him and gave my business to Dr. Moiger at Prestonwood Eye Care in 2006. Been happy ever since!

I want doctors to be nice to me. I want them to explain what they are doing. And, I want them to explain what is wrong with me. Is that asking too much? Apparently it is asking too much at Dr. Penick’s office. Dr. Penick is a quirky SOB. He is one of those people who makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. And, on my very first appointment he hands me a paper that lists why he is so great. Ummm… is this a sales pitch? I don’t care, just fix my damn eyes! And when it comes time to pay the quirky SOB, they make it so darn complicated you finally get so frustrated and probably buy all this shit you really don’t need. There is another guy there that I really like a lot. Unfortunately he’s not a doctor, he’s a «contact specialist», whatever the heck that is! The only reason I go back is because I only have to go once a year and I figure it’s not worth the trouble of transferring all my medical records.
