I don’t got to curtain club often, honestly the only reason I go is for super entertainment. Recently they had a rapper named J-ICE and I have to say, he is probably one the most talented rappers I’ve ever seen(and I’ve seen lil bow wow so…). If curtain club brings him back I will definitely visit again. Only reason this is getting 4 stars is because J-ICE performed for not even 20 minutes. Hopefully next time he gets a bigger time slot! Also kind of wonder how much they paid to get him there. I bet it was a lot! I’d pay hundreds to watch that show again!

It’s pretty small. They closed the balcony; I think they use it as a green room. There are only six tables with four chairs each, so a majority of the 80 or so people who fit have to stand. Sound system is good and clear, staff is professional, good eats in walking distance. The bar is fully stocked and has decent beer choices.

This is not a bad venue if you love intimate concerts, the only complaint I had was the sound. The house system just seems to rattle a lot, which kills the sounds for heavy bands. The drinks were well priced and the bartenders were very nice.

I always refer to this venue as the little club that could. It’s small but there’s still plenty of room to get up close to the stage. The bartenders are great and never screw up drink orders even when the music is blasting. Be sure to catch some great local bands such Rivethead and Razorblade Dolls!

Been going to see bands at this place for 18 yrs. Sound is always good. Staff is always friendly and prompt. The club itself is dirty, dark and dank. And that’s how it should be. Unfortunately the no smoking policy in dallas has forced a lot folks out of the club and onto the patio to get they smoke on. So, often times people just listen to the bands from the patio. This sucks. People need to be resting there elbows on the stage if you really like music. I would have given four stars but docked them due to the fact that their mixed drinks are small and very weak. Considering the price of said drinks the CC could pour a little heavier and earn some stars.

Though this club was wack! Had a performance there and showed up to a bunch of out dated equipment. The struggles…

Definitely a dive bar. The place is very dirty so dress very casual and in jeans or something you don’t mind getting dirty. Just don’t wear white and sit down anywhere. LOL Drinks where a great price, bartenders where nice and fast on serving drinks. Music was good.

Been here a few times to see my friend’s band play. Good little venue for live music. They could stand to update their A/C system… very warm in there. But definitely a good place to catch a local band!

I visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago. A friend of mine recommened it. The bands were pretty good, and i closed out my tab with only one beer purchased(which i thought was pretty good) the next day, I get an email from my bank that my charge for $ 110 was approved? I checked my account, called my bank and disputed the charge since I cannot get anyone at this business to return my calls. I received a copy of the fraudulent receipt from my bank today, and it’s not even my signature. Not even close. Apparently, either someone picked up my card and closed out the wrong tab, or someone that works there knows how to swipe my card and give their self a $ 20 tip on a $ 90 tab that I never opened… Bottom line, stay away from here if you dont want your money stolen.

I went here during the day while enjoying the N. Texas Taco Festival so my review really isn’t like the others for this place. At first the place seems pretty small but once you turn a couple corners you realize it’s got some pretty good space. I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. Since I went here during the day I’m interested to hear some of the local bands that play here. I’m giving this place 3 stars until I can see it in it’s «true» environment. But hell, the drinks were cold, the service was prompt and the bathrooms were clean so not too shabby!

Curtain Club is always one of my stops when I’m making the Deep Ellum rounds. Reasonable drink prices and cover, and great local music. What else do you need?

So.. . this was interesting! I went the weekend before Halloween, so they had it all decorated up and everyone was dressed up in their costumes, including the band! They had like 3 – 4 bands play that night, and each one was like a haunted house in band form. My friend put it quite accurately when he said, «I’ve never seen this side of Dallas before.» True, true! I guess the music genre that was played was.. . Death Metal? Don’t quote me. Anyway, without going into too much detail, at one point, a big spike was in the middle of the stage, with a giant pig head on it, and it was sawed in half with a chainsaw, followed by the band leader putting the pig on his face. So.. . there was that. They have a big patio area that unites the Liquid Lounge and the Curtain Club, which was cool because you could go into each one with only one entry fee.

This is one of the best clubs in Deep Ellum to go see great music in downtown Dallas. I have seen a spectrum of bands from Papa Roach to The Nixons but mostly many amazing local bands! They get to host some pretty off shows and it’s one of the older venues that is still great. There is a 2nd floor with bar/bathroom as well. I have seen some pretty amazing shows here:) I love the vibe/atmosphere always. The bartenders and stuff are pretty great too.

I was saddened upon entering Curtain Club for the first time since I was about 19. I went to see a band at my boyfriend’s behest, and I thought«surely there’s better places to play than this.» The place looked sad and listless… a shadow of the greatness it once was. No renovations that I could see have been done to the CC. The upstairs, once a very awesome place to be while seeing a show, has been closed off. The artwork on the higher parts of the wall featured one artist I had actually heard of, and a bunch of others I had never heard of. I guess this is why bands like Reverend Horton Heat(who used to play CC all the time back in the day) now choose to play venues like Trees and LaGrange when they do come down to the local scene. The other part of it might have something to do with the sound system… it needs a LOT of improvement to compete with other venues in Deep Ellum. Honestly, CC looks more like a dive bar now than anything. So sad to see this place languish in stagnation. I won’t be back unless they do some major updating.

I went to check out the finals of the battle of the bands… some were a hit some were a miss. Overall the place would be good for a small concert but beer(domestics) were $ 4.50 and shiner was $ 10. It was a long night waiting for the set up of the many bands but the house music was pretty good. There was some confusion on the location, either there are two Curtain Clubs or the sign is on the corner and we walked in to the wrong place. Where we were supposed to be has an entrance on Crowdus St., not Main. I got there early so parking wasn’t too bad but had to keep running out to feed my meter. There were also lots of kids and their parents there due to participants in the battle of the bands being young. It was a big mix of people, young and old… not sure if that is the norm for the crowd.

I’ve lived in Dallas pretty much my whole life and I’ve seen many venues come and go, but Curtain Club is definitely a Dallas institution. Recently, I had the pleasure of emceeing a Rock Band Interactive Burlesque show(the audience played the game rock band while the girls danced) thrown by Broads and Panties, and from the moment I walked to the door, it was like I entered a time machine. The same fantastic Deep Ellum service I remember in the 90s was there. We had a great setup upstairs with a ton of space, bathrooms and everything we needed. While walking around, I almost got teary eyed looking at the wood paintings of all the bands I remember seeing live many moons ago. You would think it was the realization of my age that would have made me cry, but it wasn’t. I was sad because I remembered a time when Dallas LOVED its music scene and supported it wholeheartedly. Curtain club is awesome with professionals running every aspect. The sound, stage and the screen we used were superb. Any change I needed was handled very quickly. We were able to get a great audience out, but this is not every night for these guys. The drinks are well priced, the venue is great, so where in the hell are the people?! I mean, c’mon, there is even an awesome outdoor patio that once was perfect for people watching and hanging out. We need to all work together and bring Deep Ellum back to its former glory. So dig it, if you are thinking of throwing any parties, music events or anything, I strongly suggest Curtain Club. It is absolutely perfect for mingling and still having a great show. This is one of the last strong Dallas institutions and I would hate to see it go.

I’d never been to the Curtain Club or Liquid Lounge until my son’s band, Krash Rover booked there. I’ve got to say it’s turned into one of my favorite places to hear live music & not just when he plays there. I think it’s a bargain, $ 10 gets you in both clubs & normally 6 to 8 bands each night. The sound crew is a cut above & the whole staff works very hard to make sure you have a good time. It’s a diverse crowd that has a common interest, music, & I’m amazed at how many talented musicians/songwriters play this venue. I can’t remember seeing a band there that I thought wasn’t talented, a few I didn’t care for their style, but all extremely gifted. So if you’re tired of cover bands & want to open your mind to some new music, check out the Curtain Club.

I like Curtain Club a bunch! I went to see Meridian, and some other cats play a show. Sooo good! Its not a huge place, but I like the way it is set up… little tables here and there, there is one small bar, but I didnt have any problems getting drinks. They have great artwork too. I really had a good time at this venue… I gotta get on their mailing list! Oh… now Im not sure if he is there all the time, but they had a bbq guy outside. HOLYSMOKES was that sandwich good! I think I got a brisket sandwich for five bucks. A five bucks happily spent! If the bbq guy is there — do not pass him by!

Hey there haters… I’m balancing out the score here. I have a few friends/acquaintances that play here every couple of months and I’ll usually try to make it out. The drinks are reasonable and the sound is good, the venue’s not huge so it’s likely you won’t find a place to sit if it’s relatively busy. This place definitely caters to local bands, but since when is that a bad thing? This place is definitely helping to resurrect Deep Ellum, not singlehandedly, but there’s a good crowd every time I’ve been lately. The best part about Curtain Club is the patio… it’s huge and great for people watching. Normally I spend a decent amount of time on said patio during my trips this way. Support local music! Go have fun at Curtain Club! :)

This used to be an amazing place to see a great local rock band. Then at some point they decided that they would only book high school battle-of-the-bands winners. At least that’s how it sounds… I used to be here, I’d guess once a month. .. I haven’t been(again without a stipend) in 4 years. .. and I used to live in Deep Ellum.
