The chicken and waffles here are great! The music is great! Nice Place to eat with the wife or girlfriend. Didn’t realize how good the chicken and waffles would be! My wife was jealous of my plate! Just relax and enjoy!

Unfortunately the overall rating for Catfish Blues is now very misleading, given that most of the negative reviews were for the previous ownership, when the place was entirely different. Catfish Blues is now a really cool place that is very well-run. Friendly people, great music, and excellent food. Try the bone-in pork chop sandwich. I had it with french fries and black-eyed peas. All of it delicious; a perfect Sunday afternoon lunch.

Horrible experience! How do you run out of spicy fish at a fish restaurant!!! Server was rude, did not want to take back a smoothered pork chop that my friend couldn’t cut with a STEAK knife??? REALLY? SUCKS.

Had a crew of girlfriends to go on late Sat. nite. It was not overly crowded nor was there a long line waiting to be seated.(thank God). However, it took forever to be seated. Then as we sat it took about 15 min. b4 a waitress even came to take our order. We ordered and it took 35 minutes to get our food. I ordered a catfish sandwich/fries which was very good. I have NO complaints about my food. However, the wait staff has GOT to improve if you are to keep the establishment going. We as a black race love good food. But if you have been out and choose to come to your location to get something to eat #1 we are tired and hungry and we want to eat and go home… timing is very important. Like the previous review… don’t know if its the watiress or the cook… but service was exceptionally slow! It was 1:30 am when we finally left. Plus… we waited so long for the waitress to come back with our tickets we just finally went to the counter to pay. Waitress was very nice… just a litlle slow. I ordered a hurricane… thinking it was gonna be good… I think they forgot to incl. the alcohol. It was a hurricane bartender… not kool-aid. I will return because the food was good. However, I will try to come during the day. hopefully service will be a little bit faster. I do wish you much success. It is very hard to please our race of people. As a friendly suggestion, improve your waitress/waiter staff and get with those cooks to figure out how to get the food orders out quicker. Also: NACHOS… ummmm. Plz rethink on how to present that dish.

Yep, I have found myself another great source for home cookin, soul food, whatever you call it, I’m a fan. My dude and I have made a hobby(and somewhat of a competition) to discover home cookin’ places that the other hasn’t heard about, bonus points if anything on the menu is «smothered»(him) or if they serve chess pie or 7 up cake(me). When he approached me about Catfish Blues I felt like I had heard of it, and possibly it was a place to hear live music. He was told it was a great place to eat. Turns out, apparently it’s both. We went for lunch last week, and despite being a little tough to find(I went only armed with the address and«it’s kinda by Lee Harvey’s) and parking is a little iffy(not too many spaces and signs you will be towed if you park in the wrong place) we were instantly excited to see the façade of the building painted like water with actual boats attached to the side. A good sign :) It’s a lot larger inside than I expected, with long cafeteria style tables that you can sit with a group or make new friends, as well as a few smaller 4 tops if you want a more intimate scene(which I recommend as it can get messy!) They also have an abundance of TVs so you can catch up on the news or sportscenter while you stuff your face. We were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who got our drinks(sweet tea of course) out immediately, along with some menus. I saw they had fried biscuits and decided this was going to be a good lunch! Their menu is pretty extensive, everything from burgers and fried fish to blue plate style lunches, with a special of the day that changes during the week. I went with the daily special, meatloaf and deliberated on my 2 sides for quite some time, finally deciding on corn with rice and gravy — they ended up being out of corn but I went with cabbage and it was awesome. My dude got smothered pork chops with black eyed peas and green beans. He was not super impressed with the green beans, but everything else we had was tasty. The portions are insane, I ate til I was stuffed and then took home a 5 lb to go box(great, so I can eat this fattening, high cholesterol meal again later after my workout??) The fried biscuits get a special shout out as they were very similar to a beignet, complete with powdered sugar. I didn’t have room for dessert but since the biscuits are what we started with I felt like I’d already taken care of that part. There wasn’t any live music during lunch, but there was a stage and a dance floor by our table so I can tell it may get rowdy if you go later in the evening. We made a mental note so we can check it out for dinner sometime, or if we’re in the mood for catfish and karaōke… it happens!

ok so my homeboy was talking about the spot & i heard it advertised on k104… DISAPPOINTMENT…we walked in & a lady seated us… came over got drink orders…10 mins later came back to take our order… NODRINKS…5 mins after that another young lady brought our drinks(we had waters)…hmmm…our waitress for slow as molasses & forgetful as hell… my girlfriend asked for sugar & the waitress brought it to the table next to ours… WTH…then she came out & told me that they were out of yams & it would be about 30 – 45 mins before they were done…10 mins later the another waitress set some yams down on her table… WTH…we waited any way about 30 – 35 for our food… i had catfish(mac & yams) & my girl had pork chops(greens & rice) 30 – 35 mins… REALLY. then the catfish was hard as hell… had it not been for Lanisha… we probably would have been waiting longer. i dont know who was slower… our older waitress or the kitchen… we went on a Saturday around 2pm… they had 1 table that had like 8 – 10 people… another table had 2 people & then me & my girl… O YEA… did i mention it was some chick that was setup to do facials… WTH…that’s unsanitary!!! the only good thing i can say is the yams were good… the mac was dry… CATFISHBLUES need to realize that even tho i wasnt in a hurry… i didnt wanna spend all my time up in there on a Saturday afternoon… C’MONBLACKPEOPLE!!!

Was headed somewhere else and got lost, so feeling hungry I decided to stop here and explore(10-cars in the parking lot at lunchtime was all the motivation I needed). From the name I already decided to go for the Catfish, but I was surpirsed at how large their menu is: salad, gumbo, po-boys, burgers, seafood, chicken, desserts, drinks and even breakfast(with a catch). It also has a full bar, lots of TVs, and a small stage. I had the daily special: 2-piece catfish and fries for $ 6, plus a coke(no iced tea that day, not sure why). After a short wait, a decent sized platter with piping hot catfish and perfectly crispy shoe-string fries arrived, with a small bowl of homemade Louisiana hot sauce in a small bowl. Dang, it was all good. I would have liked the plate clean if there was no one looking. It’s only open Tues through Friday for lunch, then dinner and late night Fridays and Saturdays: they advertise karaōke and live music, anyone been? And yes, they serve breakfast, midnight to 2am on their late nights, Chicken/waffles, breakfast tacos and Pork sandwiches. Got to stay awake. Got to stay awake. Got to stay awake. zzzzzzzz.

this is a brand new business near downtown dallas. the food is too basic for soul food. the prices are good for the food; but the drink prices are too much for the quality that you receive. the bartender is not experienced and the cook needs some assistance. they have live blues music which is the best thing about the place. parking spaces are limited
