extremely cute mexican folk art place that is a great place for gifts — in all price ranges. You can find something for 5 bucks or 50 for a cool gift. The owners are sweet and personable. Lots of breakable stuff, so maybe leave kids behind. Oaxacan art, cool crosses, virgin marys… etc.

Go there. buy stuff. meet the owner — he’s a passionate and kind man who loves what he does, and loves the things he sells – which are really cool. I went looking for a gift for my gf for St. Val’s day and was chagrined to see that I showed up 10 minutes after he had closed. He saw me sitting in the car, poked his head out of the door and said I could come in. The shoppe specializes in Mexican Milagros art as well as Mexican folk art, much of which plays off of the«sacred heart of Christ». The piece I ended up buying for my sweetie was a hand-carved heart covered with«milagros»(miracles) which are little metal charms like on a charm bracelet, that someone would purchase as a physical manifestation of a supplication they had for a particular saint — If you’re leg was hurt you might buy a little leg or if you needed insight on a decision you might purchase a little set of eyes, then take it to the chuch and attach it to the patron saint of that need.(actually a cool little tradition). At any rate, the merchant had just arrived, dropped off some items fresh from the Mexican interior, and left when I showed up and was able to purchase something no one else had, that I know of. Very cool. I hope you all go. The guy needs us just like we need authentic art like his. Here is more info on the Milagros genre:
