Four Stars for the food, two stars for the service. I really like the green sauce that comes with the complimentary chips. Enchilada plates are pretty standard and are done well enough. Their fajita nachos are swimming in greasy cheese, just the way I like it. The service is spotty and inconsistent though. They have a $ 5 enchilada night on Wednesday. There’s a lot of foot traffic in the restaurant on this night and they are usually too understaffed to handle it after 7 p.m. As for the complimentary soup, I’ve eaten here many times, but sometimes they don’t bring it out at all. I’m not accustomed to getting free soup with my chips and salsa, but I’d like a little more consistency, one way or the other. The last time we went on a Wednesday, the bill for my enchiladas came out to $ 8. We asked if the policy had changed and the server told us that the«Vanessa Enchiladas(chicken enchiladas with queso) were not a part of the $ 5 special. That was news to us as we had ordered this entrée many times before and it was honored as part of the Wednesday night promotion. The servers are friendly, but like I said, they are usually too understaffed to handle the traffic they get for their Wednesday night promotion and their policies are confusing and inconsistently enforced.

Ok so i went to Casa Blanca for a second visit after having a great first visit and never again. The food of course with no doubt is great but the service is horrific. We went and placed our order and for a while i thought we must of been invinsible we got no waiter to our table to ask if we wanted drinks or chips and salsa one of the reasons we went back. Then when the found time in there busy day with all 3 customers to take our order we were told they were out of beef fajita what kind of Mexican place runs out of beef fajita another reason why we went. So i placed our orders nachos for the wife and I and chicken fajita child plates for the kids 3 to be exact. After 20 min the food come out the nachos and one childs plate ok so we wait and the waiter seems busy trying to look busy so i stop him and ask where the other kids plates were and it was like a deer in head lights he was like what plates. So i tell him if its gonna take another 20 min i dont want the plates the kids would just eat some nachos he was like ok like he didnt even care. So we get done eating and were waiting for the bill so we could go get something to drink because he never brought 1 refill and he comes out with the other plates and says here they are i tell i didnt want them and then we get the attitude. So with service like this no wonder there were slow on a Saturday

New place in the BA and decided to give it a try — it would have been great to have another good Tex-Mex place nearby, but this was horrid. My sister and I dropped by Wednesday night in hopes of a cool margarita on a hot day, and a tasty bite. Being happy hour, the margaritas were only $ 4 and we were happy to jump in with the first frozen round(I usually prefer on the rocks, but since they are made with sour mix rather than fresh lime, I went with the slush) — but as others have stated, where’s the tequila??? This was nothing but a frozen limeade — tasty and refreshing, but I could have served it with a clean conscience to my 6 year old nephew and if a cop had arrested me for enabling under-age drinking, the judge would have thrown out the case after one sip. Along with the margaritas they served a cup of shell macaroni soup in a light tomato broth — decent flavor, and a nice traditional Mexican touch(this is done often below the border) — but after a brief taste, I skipped mine deciding that I would rather enjoy the chips and salsa vs a cup of carb filler. Just didn’t do anything for me. My sister ordered the brisket tacos at the suggestion of the waiter, apparently their specialty — two brisket tacos in soft fried corn tortillas with a dipping sauce — she ate one and left the other… super greasy with melted cheese all over the beef and shell, and the dipping sauce was bland. I ordered the fish tacos hoping for a light dish on a hot day, but these were unlike any fish taco I had ever had. They consisted of a sort of fish stew — tilapia in a tomato-y sauce with bell peppers and onions, loaded with melted cheese, in a soft fried corn tortilla heavy with grease… seriously, the grease just dripped and there was a pool of grease on the plate. The flavor of the fish was actually not bad, but this is not at all what I want when I order fish tacos, and all that grease was unwanted and the memory of that grease dripping out of the end of a non-fried fish taco still stumps me . There are so many good choices for Mexican in this neighborhood, and better choices for Tex-Mex as well that I can still support Bishop Arts and have decent food too — there is absolutely no reason I would visit Casa Blanca again.

Olé Olé Olé Olé! Hooray for Bishop Arts! Let’s party. Very much impressed with this place. When it first opened, the crowd looked… well there was none. However lately, I’ve noticed a growing plethora of people enjoying this restaurant, so off we go! Great little place, the décor was fine, very spread out and it doesn’t look like there are tons of tables. But I digress, we were sat and immediately brought chips and salsa as well as this warm salsa verde(that the BF wanted to bathe in… for realz)…THEN we were brought this complimentary soup… ALLBEFOREWEORDERED. The soup was basically noodles and broth. Good though. The menu is large, lots to look at and very broad. Everything from Jalapeño pork chops to sour cream enchiladas to just the regular tacos. Also have great vegetarian dishes to choose from too. Our waitress was absolutely adorable. We asked her what the favorites were and instead of saying«well what are you in the mood for?» She told us exactly what was popular… loved that!!! BF ordered the chicken enchiladas with sunset sauce and I ordered the grilled chicken with sour cream sauce(one of the«favorites»). Food came out in a timely manner and I dug in. Hmm… interesting, not your normal sour cream sauce, but def lovely. BF likes the sunset sauce better at Mia’s, but def enjoyed his dish. The little avocado salad my meal came with was SPICY! Kind of a shocker, but nonetheless delicious. The margaritas were weak… could have used another shot(or three) of tequila. I had two and barely felt anything, oh and I don’t think they do «free margaritas» anymore(like I noticed in other reviews). Sad face :-( Daily Specials include Chile relleno Tuesdays, $ 5 enchilada dinner on Wednesdays, Chicken mole and $ 4 margaritas every Thursday, all day! Will def be back, a great little addition in Bishop Arts… if its nice, sit on the patio for maximum people watching. You’re welcome.

Pleasantly surprised with the yumminess of food! I’d venture to say my brisket tacos were were the best I’ve had and I’m pretty picky when it comes to brisket tacos! I just asked for a side of cilantro, onion, and lime and they were good to go! Complimentary soup was pretty good, though, not sure why it is offered on the menu for a price. Also, the chips and salsa were scrumptious… couldn’t get enough of those! I wish someone had told us the margs were free because we probably would have ordered one(or two!) The vibe of the place is a little lacking; maybe they should improve the lighting because it had an overall dark feel and lacked the character that most Bishop restaurants have. The DJ was fun and we enjoyed the music selection– plus I liked the fact that we could still hear over it. I’ll definitely be back for the food but I hope they improve the ambiance!

The food was good, service was okay. There is something about the restaurant that is lacking though. Ordered the margaritas, thought they were a little weak but then when we got the bill, we realized they were free. This restaurant needs to figure out how to differentiate itself from the competition.

Love this addition to Bishop Arts District. It’s a nice fit being independent and family owned. The food is good, solid, tex-mex and their conchita soup is fantastic! A tomato broth with huge shell noodles and loaded with melted white cheese, stir together and magic happens! I could eat this soup everyday! The guacomole and queso are also very very good. The Brisket tacos are outstanding and the good old cheese enchiladas are moist and covered with good chili con carne. Their rice and beans are also above average and not a throw away item like some tex-mex restaurants. I would have given 4 stars but the service can be slow even when there are only a few tables occupied. So if you are in a hurry at lunch to get back to the office, you might call ahead and order. I’m looking forward to trying everything on this menu, but I’ll stay in love with the simple but fabulous conchita soup!

I’ve been here about 3 times for lunch. The service is spotty, but cordial and well-intentioned. The location is great and I’ve been lucky finding parking. I also love the ice they use – I know it’s weird, but I am a sucker for Sonic-like ice. :) Now for the important stuff: the food. The complimentary conchita soup is my definition of comfort food and a nice touch in addition to chips and salsa. I’ve tasted the brisket tacos – which were a real value during lunch for about $ 8. Extremely filling and rival the other big places in town. Enchiladas are also very fresh and tasty. All in all, my friends and I have always left very happy from this place.

We love Casa Blanca Sabor and eat there at least once a week. Great food, fun family wait staff & owners and prime location. Wednesday nights is enchilada night for $ 5. We think they have the best queso in town. Our favorites include the pasta soup, flautitas and sour cream enchiladas. They also have great chicken fajita enchiladas with a chili sauce that has a nice spiciness and kick. It’s a family-owned restaurant reminiscent of their previous restaurant on Lemmon Ave.

After great disappointment when we found our first choice closed, we decided to try Casa Blanca Sabor in the old Grill 400 space in Bishop Arts District. Since I had my mind set on some delicious empanadas and wasn’t going to get them, I knew I was going to be hard to please! I know, another mexican restaurant in Oak Cliff(not to mention in the cursed space on the corner of Bishop and Davis), but we were actually pleasantly surprised. Our experience started with the offer of free margaritas or wine while they await their liquor license. The margaritas weren’t great but what do you expect for free. We certainly did not hesitate to drink them! Next we were brought a complimentary soup with pasta shells. The broth reminded me of the soup at La Calle Doce, which is definitely a good thing. My boyfriend and I ordered the same thing because neither of us could resist the brisket tacos. Having traveled from Oak Cliff to Oaklawn on multiple occasions to eat Mia’s brisket tacos, we were excited to find some in our neighborhood. They did not disappoint. The brisket was well seasoned and tender and the corn tortilla was slightly crispy on the edges. The 2 tacos came with Mexican rice, refried beans, salad, and sliced avocado for around $ 9.00. The rice was perfectly textured and had a nice subtle but not bland flavor. The beans were too salty and after a few bites, I abandoned them all together. Hopefully they will improve or just had a «heavy hand» that day. I want to add that the staff was cheery, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our waitress was not only familiar with the menu, but she could describe in detail how things were prepared in the kitchen. Definitely a «family» style restaurant with all of the benefits of a small operation. When paying our check, the manager or owner(?) recommended the jalapeño style pork chops which I definitely plan on trying on our next visit. Overall, Casa Blanca Sabor exceeded our expectations and might begin to rival some of our old Oak Cliff favorites!
