My lasagna was overly sweet and had so much marinara sauce on it that you couldn’t taste the meat or cheeses. The waitress was extremely slow and forgot my drink, which I went and picked up myself from her tray she had sat aside. Also, they play top 40 music and it’s too loud for you to hear people speaking at your table. Go elsewhere for Italian!

This place is disappointing. My mom used to work down the street and she would always order me pizza from here and I loved it. However, since moving downtown I have been here two times and neither experience has been pleasant. One for a work happy hour which they knew we had a ton of people coming and they crammed us into a tiny space and the drinks were WAY overpriced — but we are in downtown Dallas so I wasn’t too bothered by this experience. Second time I ordered a pizza and cheese bread for delivery. I live maybe two miles away and it took TWO hours to be delivered. It was a Saturday afternoon around 1pm maybe. I am usually very understanding so I only called a couple times and it was always«on its way.» When it was finally delivered, my order was completely wrong and freezing cold. They brought me my correct order but it had been three hours, I was hangry and once again it wasn’t even warm. I won’t be going back here ever again.

My wife and I stopped in here because I had gotten a to go order previously and really thought it was nice. We loved its location central to downtown Dallas and the romantic ambiance. We ordered the cheese bread, flatbread pizza and eggplant parmesan. It was all fantastic! The cheese bread had a good crust and ass off center with a nice glass of melted mozzarella. The eggplant parmesan was cooked perfect it was tender to cut with a fork in the spaghetti was cooked very well. Also the flatbread pizza is light enough to where you can almost eat it as an appetizer it’s very fresh with vegetables light sauce and light cheese. Our server Tina, was perfect. She never let our drinks go empty, she suggested the appetizer and kept conversation politw and to the point. My wife and I really enjoyed this because this was our first dinner without our kids so we really just wanted to enjoy talking to each other and not our server. Sometimes servers can be very overbearing and talk way too much but she did an excellent job of giving us our space and had a real good sense of our needs… GREAT! Also we took some tiramisu to go. And it was perfect! The icing was nice and creamy while the cake was nice and moist

Updating from my previous review: After my first poor experience, Travis(the owner) reached out to me to apologize again and assured me that was not their ‘A’ game that night. He requested we give them another chance to which I obliged. Much improved over our first experience! Used them twice since my first review(both delivery). Pizzas were delivered timely, and hot. :-) This is the Campisi’s I know and love. The delivery driver we have is a little quirky… but otherwise good experience. Overall, I think I still prefer eating at the restaurant vs. delivery, but I love that delivery is an option. Thanks Travis!

Jack Ruby. JFK. Mafia. I am not sure if this location has a similar history to the Mockingbird location. (The Mockingbird location) — Founded in 1946 as the Egyptian Lounge, it was a favorite hangout of Jack Ruby. This was the last meal Jack Ruby had before walking down the street to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald. The owners had strong mafia ties, and the reputation of the owners may be the major factor in the mafia conspiracy theories surrounding JFK’s assassination. I consider the traditional Italian plates average in taste. I think the pizza is above average. For me, this is a must stop for visitors to Dallas. Read more here:

GREATFOOD! I just moved to Dallas and have heard great things about this place. Some family visited a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to all try it together. WOW! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding(even though it was busy — OU/TX Weekend), and the atmosphere was great. We had the pizza and the combination pasta. All was delicious! And the prices were great for the amount of food. We all had to-go boxes when we left. I will definitely be eating here again, and sending my friends your way as well!

I write reviews in hopes that the owners and managers read them, so this is addressed to them, and further my recommendation to the general public reading this. Please pay more attention to your kitchen staff as well as your customers. Stale bread, and plain food displeases any palate. So does a long wait time. A smile from a waiter, or should I say manager, does not make up for the overall dining experience. Fresh ingredients in your sauces shouldn’t taste like they’ve been poured from a glass ragu bottle. Nor does the chopped basil make it any better if it has no flavor. I understand that running a successful business can be challenging, but when there are multiple unsatisfactory reviews please take notice and take action. To the general public, if you’re hungry and could care less about a fine dining experience this is the place for you. If not, find another. I’m serious. It’s been 15 minutes and. oh here it comes my bill. Come on. You’re at maybe, 5% full capacity. $ 17.86 for a soda and overcooked pasta.

Wandered into this place in search of a place actually playing the MLB playoff game. I sat at the bar by myself and a few other patrons. Overall, the food was just mediocre. Salad with dinner was a lame bowl of lettuce, a single olive, a pepperoncini, and choice of only Ranch or Italian. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo. The sauce was a bit gritty, and had a bitter bite almost like it had been scorched. I’m in town for work, but would not choose to come back.

Ordered a pizza for delivery at our hotel while on vacation. The photos on Unilocal looked better than any other pizza place, so, despite the lower ratings, we decided to try it out. The pizza arrived sooner than what we were quoted, so that was the first plus for us. When we finally saw the pizza… WOW! So delicious! We ordered the Meat Lover and, boy, did it have a lot of meat. We ate the pizza throughout the night and it only got better and better. I would recommend this pizza joint to anyone that wants a quickly delivered, super tasty pizza!

It was ok. First of all, they only have gluten free pizza. No gluten free pasta at all. The food was just ok. It wasn’t this heavenly meal I had heard about from all my Dallas friends for years. The smell of the cleaning products they used was overwhelming and actually pretty gross. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Service was ok. the lady who took our order during lunch at the counter was very nice.

It used to be nice to come here for lunch… now this place is pretty rough for service. We ordered our food and they lost our tickets… went into advise manager and they said would be out 4 minutes. Still didn’t show up for another 15 – 20, so disappointing. I appreciate the honesty but I would appreciate more timely service. I like the pizza but it’s really hard to overcome poor service

I have have been to Campisi’s downtown many times and I usually get the same thing: sautéed shrimp scampi or the chicken & spinach pizza. This location has expanded over the years, for the better. There’s the bright, lively area that you see first as you walk in from the Elm Street entrance, then there’s is the darker, more private side you can access from the bright side or from the Main Street Garden entrance. I’ve seen a few secret meeting held over there lol The bartenders are great. So friendly and they have no problem pouring up something special. The food is good. I’ve tried a salad from the lunch special menu and it was really good: grilled chicken over spring mix with their house dressing or any dressing of your choice. My friend was a fan of the baked spaghetti: breaded chicken breast over spaghetti, marinara, and cheese. They also have a good meatball sub, I almost forgot I’ve tried that before. If you order pizza, be patient because they can really get backed up with pizzas. Also, in my opinion the pizza is best when you dine in. We’ve ordered pizza at the office and it’s just not the same. The price range is medium. I noticed the price increase on my recent visit but not too bad.

Let me start off my saying this, if you have never been to a Campisi’s, this is a full service Italian restaurant. That means, you walk in, are shown to a table where you are handed menus, someone comes up and asks what you’d like to drink and goes to get those drinks and delivers them to your table. They then take your food order and bring you your food and deliver the check upon completion. Am I wrong to think this is how a restaurant works!!! Recently, we go into the Campisi’s off Elm. We walk in, are handed two menus and are told to sit wherever we would like. We found a table, and waited for someone to take our order. 15 mins later a man who is dropping off food at another table sees us sitting there and tells us if we want to order we need to go to the back to do it. So my friend went to the«back», stood there and then was told to go to the bar to order. So he orders our food through the bartender which includes water and an ice tea. Apparently if you want tea you have to go pour that yourself too! So he orders and pays BEFORE getting the food which includes having to tip prior to receiving food and comes back to the table. The food was just OK. But this isn’t about the food. It’s about the service. JUSTAWFUL! I frequent the Mockingbird location and that location is fabulous! This location should be shut down.

Surrounded by sandwich shops and other fast Italian places, Campisi’s is my «go-to» for pizza downtown. There is a lot of space, it is always busy and service is pretty quick for a standard lunch hour. The individual pizza with two topping special comes with a salad. That is the best bet. If you’re in the mood to share, it is plenty for two people just by adding an extra salad. The pizza is thin, crispy and square cut. They bring everything out to your table fast as well. I’ve tried the pasta, it was barely warm– but in a hurry so I did not address it. The chopped salad is also good. The side salad has a nice green olive in it but be careful as it is still pitted. The salad dressing, however, leaves a lot to be desired in flavor. Oil, water and I can’t detect anything else on the iceberg lettuce. I always have to add red and black pepper for any flavor. It is a solid downtown mainstay, but stick with the specials.

Campisis has some of my favorite pizza in the world. Their crust is so thin and crispy, and all of their toppings are of the highest quality. I usually prefer the Mockingbird location, because of the tradition and history that I feel when I’m there, but this location’s food is just as good!

Stopped in for lunch with some colleagues on the way to a client meeting. It’s a bit cafeteria style… You order your food at the counter and then they deliver it to your table. I ordered a personal size cheese & pepperoni pizza… It was quite good and had a thin crust, which I like. Definitely a good place if you want/need to get in and out quickly.

Service| Came in during end of lunch so there’s about to be shift change. Sat at the bar and the bartender(Carlos) did not greet but overall he was good to talk to and he took care of me. Atmosphere| Open environment, a great place for a get together with old friends to catch up. It has music and tvs going so it depends on your cup of tea. Menu| Wow. Ordered the small meat supreme. Thin crust, perfectly crisp and flavorful. Recommendation| Can not go wrong with the pizza, DELICIOUS. Also, there’s happy hour from 3 – 6($ 1 off beer/wine and $ 5apps)

We decided to stop here for dinner before the Dallas Margarita Ball(which was… interesting), and I kinda wish we’d just stayed at Campisi’s to hang out and drink wine all evening! This location seems a little more modern and trendy than the one in Fort Worth, but the menu is the same and that’s what matters. I loooooove Campisi’s gluten free pizza. It’s probably my next favorite after Fireside Pies/Thirteen Pies. The crust is thin and delicious with a ton of flavor and a great texture. Nothing reminiscent of cardboard or some undercooked chewy dough, don’t worry. We put pepperoni, mushrooms, and jalapeños on top, and I’m happy to report that Campisi’s doesn’t skimp on the toppings. Lots of flavor going on. The small GF pizza is $ 9.95 and then most toppings are $ 1, so we spent around $ 13 bucks on our pie(we shared). It was super good and not very big, so we definitely should have ordered two and taken home a few leftovers. Next time. We also enjoyed the house Chianti at $ 7 per glass. To me, $ 7 is a bit high for a house wine, but at least they were heavy pours and had great flavor. As I said before, the atmosphere is youthful and trendy. It’s very dimly lit with giant black and white photo canvases lining the walls(pics of the Campisi family, I believe), and everything else seems to be either black or red. They have sexy red glass candle holders on each table, and right now there are great Christmas wreaths and glittering red ornaments all over the place. I love the festiveness. Even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded, we were seated in a very loud spot right where servers clear off plates and grab new ones, and right near the bathroom. Very loud with lots of bodies constantly walking back and forth past us. I completely understand that everyone is just doing their job, but I think they shouldn’t have a table in that particular spot. Either way, our waitress was lovely and quite sweet, and our food was wonderful.

Staying in downtown Dallas I swung by here for dinner one night because it was open and I had a hankering for some pasta. Stepping inside, you kind of feel like your in an East Coast Italian restaurant. Simple layout but almost too simple. The place smelled like floor cleaner and parmesean cheese. Not the most appealing aroma but my grumbling stomach over ruled my senses and I took a seat at the bar anyways. I ordered a small salad and shrimp fettucini alfredo and a glass of prosecco. The salad was horrible. Limp salads, overly vinegaretted(yes i just made that a word), and overly cheesed as well. A small bread basket was brought out, though they claim it was fresh baked it tasted more like fresh bought. The fettucini itself was very oily. Not traditional tasting. Noodles were cooked decently well and the shrimp wasn’t so bad either. Just didn’t like the clumpy sauce and buttery/oily mess at the bottom. Service wasn’t anything to rave about but wasn’t poor. I just wasn’t impressed with the flavors or quality of the food itself.
