Usually when I go to a place that have novelty items like Buli’s Café’s lunch box sandwich, the food isn’t so good. Man, am I wrong! I ordered the Spicy Turkey Sandwich and It was delicious! Love it! Great place to hang out in the morning.

I’ve been to this place twice, once to get a sandwich to go, and then a few days ago for breakfast/brunch. First time, counter guy was friendly, and sandwiches were yummy, if just a tad bit on the pricey side. 4 stars then. Went back today, and was greeted by a sultry twink with a scowl on his face that looked like he would rather be anywhere in the universe but there. Got a breakfast sandwich and a chocolate croissant, which was a dollar more than what the board said it was. Um, okay. Breakfast sandwich was tasty considering that it was clearly assembled using precooked and reheated ingredients. Eggs were tender, and hot! The cheddar cheese really tasted like American cheese(yes I can tell the difference), but I can live with that. The croissant though was HORRID. Smeared all over with ugly looking and sickeningly sweet and artificial chocolate frosting. Major disappointment, and probably the worst 4 dollars I’ve ever spend on food. 2 stars for this visit. Take the average and you get 3. Won’t go out of my way to come back.

Derrricious sandwiches! I haven’t tried all of them yet; however, every time I come in I try a new one without worrying about being disappointed. It helps when the owner is behind the counter taking orders, making suggestions, and explaining the taste of everything. Easily my favorite place for lunch down cedar springs. However, lets not forget their Dirty Chai Tea! Throw your diet out the window and try one — it’s simply amahhzing! My compliments can go on forever. Be sure to grab a pastry on your next stop.

Came here for brunch based on Unilocal reviews because the place we were going to go was closed on Father’s Day. Was more than pleased with our find. Great menu selection… the baked goods looked terrific. Wife got the Pastrami sandwich which was served in a lunch box… how cute. I got the inside out omelette. Nice fluffy eggs and tasty lean ham. And the thick toast was wonderful! Definitly worth a return visit… and I love supporting LGBT friendly establishments… so eat it Rick Perry…

I went here for a Sunday brunch date, and it was a great spot for it. First off, I noticed as I was there that most of the people in the place were weekly regulars. You can’t beat that — only excellent restaurants get that kind of devotion. The service was extremely friendly, and the ambiance was perfect for a Sunday lunch out. I had the pastrami sandwich(turkey pastrami, wheat bread, spicy mustard, monterrey jack cheese, and sauerkraut). This was served in a metal lunch box with a bag of chips. Very cute! I would give the sandwich 3 stars. I didn’t like that it was turkey pastrami instead of traditional, and the sauerkraut was far too sweet for my taste. However, this place delivers, delivers, delivers on customer service. My husband greatly enjoyed his omelette, so perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing at the wrong time for me. I love supporting LGBT friendly locations, so that definitely hits the mark for me. Oh…the hot chocolate was to die for! I’m not sure what spice they add(perhaps cassia?), but it had an earthiness to it without being overly dark or over sweet. Fantastic.

Even after the change in ownership, friendliness remains their hallmark. Sandwiches are uniquely served in lunch boxes. GETTHECHICKENSALADSANDWICH. You will write a review and thank me!

It was an emergency — I had driven to two cramped Starbucks overflowing with generic people and generic drinks. Per usual there was no parking. I was contemplating walking to the Starbucks when I found this place on Unilocal and stepped in. Hurray! This café has personality, space and some very reasonably priced food. Sandwiches come in a cute disney characted lunch box. I’m so grateful you exist BULI.

I love this place, particularly with the new renovations. The staff are very friendly and I was a little surprised at how much I enjoy their sandwiches. Coffee is great and they make it nice and hot so it stays warm how I like it! Will return regularly.

I’ve gone here sometimes for the last few years, and it seems like it’s under new management. The weird art is gone(always kind of liked it), the furniture seems cleaner and not as dingy(thank Jesus), and the baristas with ‘tude don’t seem to be there. The coffee was a bit off — a little watered, I thought. I did ask for two cubes of ice in it, but it seemed like it was more water than that. Maybe he put more. I wish they’d work on the baked goods case — it seems sooooo depressing. The light is out and there are maybe three brownies in the whole thing. Again, maybe it was just an off day, but they really should keep it stocked. Oh, and I got SOANNOYED this day — this thin middle-aged woman with a long pink dress made out of jersey and those insect sunglasses came in with her husband(?) who was dressed like a leather daddy. They sat down, had coffee, and ordered food while they left their pit bull in their IDLINGBMWSUV. Seriously? I felt like I was in an episode of Captain Planet where Hoggish Greedly drive a horrendously full-inefficient automobile around a city belching out pollutants while they feast on mango rolls wrapped in rice paper and gourmet coffee. The above paragraph didn’t affect my review of Buli, though. «The power is yours!» — Captain Planet

This place is a nice atmosphere, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and under new management. If you are looking for any comparison to your favorite coffee shops in Dallas, you will be severely disappointed. Small triple espresso comes out in a TALL cup, watered down, and my muffin without raisins turns out to be a raisin muffin! $ 7.00:(I’ll pass and get me some lunch instead –somewhere else!

Muffler-Etta is the way to go. Stopped in on long drive from Austin, Tx to Chicago, IL. A group of bears eating on patio outside made us feel like it was the place to be.

Yep, it’s cute, yup the food is good, but you pay for it in price and service. There are tons and tons of options from panini to bagels to smoothies… it’s a great café/brunch/lunch spot with an outdoor seating area for always-fun people-watching. The whimsy is kicked up a notch by your food arriving at your table in an old-school lunch box.(The first two times, I got Dora and Wonder Woman; today I got Iron Man.) What’s not so cool is the pricing: The sandwiches are great, but they’re approaching dinner prices(about $ 10 after all is said and done). The service is sometimes friendly, sometimes not, and most usually slow. This is understandable because they are a very small operation, but just be aware that this isn’t fast-food.(On a different note, the awesome burger joint Hunky’s a few doors down is small as well but seems to crank the food out pretty quickly.) Your«combo» options with the sandwiches are potato chips and an apple. Cute but not really what you want. Fries? Hell, maybe even an option? I like this place and will be back, but there’s definite need for improvement. If your wallet is full and you have some time to kill, this is the spot.

Very solid sandwich shop with an enormous menu. Although, even presented with healthier options, I elected for the bacon bleu burger panini, which was good, if not a little salty. Plenty of bacon and cheese, and not crazy greasy. All the paninis are served in old style metal lunchboxes — mine was Transformers, for extra points. They also come with some veggie crisps and a piece of fruit — I didn’t eat the fruit, but the veggie crisps, which are identical to those you can buy in enormous bags from Sam’s Club, were a little on the stale side. Close that bag up between servings, guys! I’d definitely hit this place again, if not just to sample the menu. It’s a good alternative to all of the fast food stuff I usually grab for quick lunches.

I’ve stopped in a few times before. The sandwiches are alright — I like them better than Hero but not as much as Panera. The sandwiches are fairly large and have a generous goodies inside — last time I was in i got the Turkey Club. It was alright but the strawberry chipotle sauce threw it off a bit. Its a little gimicky, but I love how all their sandwiches are served inside a metal lunchbox(i thought I was super cool with my transformers box) and have veggie chips and a small apple. What I think is absolutely wonderful there is their Island Berry Iced tea. They serve you a glass along with a small carafe to refill. I love the flavor that you dont have to add any sweetener. Overall Buli is a nice stop for lunch time — theyre sandwiches are solid but not mind-blowing but the atmosphere is nice and comfy and I love their iced tea.

Cool location, server made me feel kind of rushed and I made a quick decision for a cookie and iced mocha so he could get on with his life. That brought my initial review down to three stars. Lots of sandwich options in wall and desserts look pretty good. Cookie was too crunchy for my taste but it was very chocolatey. Also cute, lunches served in lunchboxes and the paninis look pretty good. After going back a few more times, I got better service which gave Buli a redemption star. The staff isn’t entirely talkative, but depending on your luck, they will be patient with you should you be as indecisive as I am!

I have been wanting to try Buli’s for FOREVER but it’s always been one of those places that never come to mind when I’m looking for somewhere to grab lunch, until today! I ordered the Southwest Shoot Out pannini that came with spicy chicken, chopped red bell peppers, spinach, tomatoes, cream cheese and habenero chutney stuffed between ciabatta bread. My little pony lunchbox also came out with a potato chips, a banana and two banana peppers(this wasn’t the ‘pickle’ advertised on the menu). This was way more than I was expecting and I could have split this with the love but he got his own lunch box(a high school musical one) with the smoked salmon pannini. Our total was a little under $ 20 which I thought was a little high but our sandwiches were huge. They bread a little over grilled and my pannini had a bit too much cream cheese but the chicken was flavored perfectly. Richard’s was pretty good too. Our sandwiches were so big we barely touched our potato chips(which didn’t taste so good anyways) and we had to take our bananas home. The service was nice and everything was done and prepared quickly but I just thought it was a little overpriced. I’ll have to come back to try their drinks so see you next study session Buli!

Last time I reviewed Buli was in June 2007. I loved it then and love it now. Greats sandwiches. I do the veggie panini but the other sandwiches look just as good. I find the quality control is excellent in terms of consistent sandwich prep and quality of food. The ambiance is really nice for people watching outside and if you’re inside you can also people watch if not too obvious of course. I like the wifi and seeing people working on their laptops against the really inviting wall bench. The chips are pretty darn good. They are thick and crunchy and not those sissy chips you get in those puny 10 chip Lays bags. The chip quantity is very generous too. Their dessert options are pretty slim, IMHO. Outside is nice but sometimes you find a smoker or two which I hate.

I have to update my 4 star review. 1. I don’t like or eat the food here. It’s greasy fattening sandwiches in obesity servings. But my friends Rueben always looks good. But I’d have to give the food at least a 3 star. Even the salads somehow look fattening. 2. I just drink the coffee, which is good enough, and I like European roast. However starbucks iced coffee is better. 3. I like the unique gayborhood vibe — and that’s what gives this place four stars for me. 4. There have been conflicts with the usage of space for wifi versus a actual dining. I’ve been on both sides of this argument.
