Breakfast was great. Biscuits and gravy were the bomb! And the bacon was great too. Bacon is always great. It was very busy but food came out quickly. You order at the counter and pay, then go find a seat. Food is brought to you. I will be back when in the area again.

This was the first time my wife and I have visited bubbys for breakfast, and all I can say is 5 star service, food, atmosphere. The location was not easy to get too but once you got through yelling at other drivers to move you were ok. I would also like to say come to denton we need y’all. Don’t change a thing keep up the great service and work. Also thanks to Carl our server(he knows what he did) but thanks be to him for helping a old man to get out of the booth because he had knee problems. God bless the crew and the owners and Carl. Thanks again, Michael and Audrey Hayes.

Wow I am so satisfied right now! I LOVE fried chicken and Bubba’s is terrific! As a child, I have fond memories of eating my Mom’s homemade fried chicken, always on my birthday! My brother’s and I could choose what meal we wanted for our birthday’s and my Mom always delivered on mine with piping crispy hot fried chicken! It’s an odd choice considering my Mom and I were both born in Paris, France! While I have an affinity for artichokes and fine French cuisine, my current southern roots, bring’s it all to life, with down home fried chicken! Bubba’s offers white and dark pieces of fried chicken, chicken tenders, a multitude of homemade sides and warm made from scratch rolls they offer real butter and honey! Service is most friendly and their bathroom’s are maintained constantly too! I am leaving with a happy tummy and a smile on my face! Next time I am in Dallas Bubba’s is on my EAT list!

DELICIOUS fried chicken! My fiancé and I always get the half portion of fried chicken strips with mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll. All of it is absolutely delicious. Their sweet tea is also the best! Great prices(super cheap), great location. Go try it!

Decided to try this place because of the great reviews. It wasn’t bad but not as great as we thought it was going to be. The chicken was a bit greasy and nothing spectacular. The mashed potatoes and rolls were pretty good though. Staff was nice. Parking was a bit hard to find for dining in and it was very cold inside. The soda cups are small and refills are $ 0.25. Don’t know if I’d come back.

Bubba’s was the greatest thing when I was pregnant. A year later it’s STILL the greatest thing! This is better then having the munchies. This food is a party in your mouth. I’d gladly drive 45 minutes anytime to eat here. The rolls, green beans, mashed potatoes & chicken are your Great Grandma’s Home Sweet Home!

Bubba’s Cooks Country 6617 Hillcrest Ave, Dallas, TX75205 Five Star Review When we went to Bubba’s, we were warmly greeted by professional, friendly employees who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed the lovely retro décor and 50’s music as we feasted on our generous portions. What a great surprise to notice that they also serve a wonderful down home breakfast! We felt pampered by the courteous customer service, as our server brought our food to us and assisted us kindly as needed. Love the cleanliness, home cooking and their personal touch! Wow! Excellent menu, complete with catfish, fried chicken, and wonderful sides, all perfectly cooked and seasoned! If you haven’t been there, you are really missing out. Get on over to this Five Star restaurant!!!

How could you not love this place. The original founder of babes. The chicken is fantastic and so is the chicken fried steak. They change out veggie selection. I have had their pecan pie which is to die for. Oh and get a lighter portion on the steak. Otherwise it is 2 big pieces added with 2 veggies and rolls the size of a baseball is too much food. Love this place I just wish it was bigger wirh it’s own parking lot

Maybe We came on the off day based on what other people excellent reviews but gotta be honest here. Atmosphere:(2⁄5) *since it is a small restaurant when it’s busy it is a disaster, outside is nice but the inside is like a run down Chinese restaurant. Food:(2⁄5) *I still can’t believe they used Babe’s recipe because it’s not as good at all. Fried chicken is very salty, catfish breading is overcooked, fries soaked in vinegar not just drizzled, green tomatoes relish is inedible, however the bread and mashed potatoes were fine. Staff:(5⁄5) *despite all other bad factors the staffs are very nice and friendly they will try to make things right for you with a smile, they just need a better management. Cleanliness:(2⁄5) *it was very dirty may be because it was busy my suggestion is if the table outside is available take them! Good hang out spot: Yes, only when it’s not busy. I don’t think the price is fair for the portion you get.

This was my first time coming to this restaurant to try their Breakfast and I’m so happy that I finally did too. It’s a small, and cozy cafeteria style of restaurant that has a Drive-Thru, and a Walk-Up Window for you to order food. You go to the counter to order your food…, but the cool thing is that they bring the food to you. I was taken by surprise that everything is done fresh, and the taste of their food is VERY good. If the smell of Bacon doesn’t bother you… then, you’ll be in Heaven as you eat your meal. Let me tell you… everyone of my family members LOVED their food. The food is well made comfort food that tastes great. Note: The parking is not great… but, it’s manageable. Note: The sitting at Bubba’s is limited… so, get there early to avoid the crowds.

There are some days when you just need a big hug. A big, warm hug in the guise of Southern cookin’. If that’s what you’re looking for, Bubba’s beckons you. I’ve visited Bubba’s several times since I moved to Dallas, and they are a great place to feast on crispy, lip-smacking fried chicken. Cliché I know, but it’s true. This is the kind of crispy fried chicken that makes your lips glisten and your mouth hum with joy as you take bite after bite. Order the 1 – 3 piece chicken, dark or white meat, with your choice of 1 – 2 «vegetables». I am partial to the mashed potatoes and gravy and pinto beans. There are other dishes such as catfish and grilled chicken tenders if that suits your fancy. Regardless, each dish comes with at LEAST one warm, buttery, pillowy roll, that tastes even more exponentially amazing with – yes, butter – slathered on it. Wash it all down with a giant sweet tea and you’ve done had just the right amount of Southern comfort! :-)

A 1950’s soundtrack pipes outside of an old diner providing a Highland Park fast food experience where 7 foot tall SMU students and middle aged university bikers load up on classic Southern fried calories, mainly in the form of chicken but also available with potatoes and okra. In the area, I decided to crash my diet since I hadn’t been here in over a year. The eerie antiquated early American southern feel with red vinyl booths, black and white tile checkered floor oddly serves a mostly well off white clientele by a staff of color. This bothers me. «What’s that?» I pointed at the basketball player tall SMU students plate of fried chicken. «That’s the chicken strips.» The cashier said. At $ 10.99 for a large plate with two sides and a roll it seemed a bit excessive, but i eschewed the reduced portion option and went hog wild. «BBQ sauce, catsup or honey mustard?» She delightfully offered as a dipping sauce. «BBQ!» I said. Feeling like a hungry teenager I tore into the chicken strips without even getting utensils. The mashed potatoes seemed a little overly starchy and the strips not as fresh tasting as the fried chicken I had ordered last time. A gamble with a different side, the black eyed peas, proved mostly bland if tasteless, but that honey roll was as luscious as any buttery Parisian café. Owned by the local Babes chicken restaurant chain, this counter service establishment never has a wait, unlike some Babes, and offers the ability to order a la carte. As a Texas tourist food experience in Dallas the food is decent, and works if you’re cool with an almost fast food feel. As my meal wasn’t as spot on as the first time I might not feel like another visit is so worth the calories. Chicken breast ala carte $ 4 Daily dessert features like banana pudding Family meal combos Patio

Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! We came here for lunch on a Sunday, and there was already a line out the door. Luckily, it moved really quickly, and there was plenty of seating inside. I heard that this place has the same ownership/recipes as Babe’s, so I already had high expectations. I ordered the 2-piece fried chicken combo with 2 drumsticks with mashed potatoes and french fries as sides. I was really hoping to get some fried okra, but it looked like they already sold out of it. The chicken was amazing. The skin was so perfectly browned and crispy, and the meat underneath was juicy, tender, and flavorful. There’s plenty of meat on each piece, and you can tell that they use high quality chicken. One of the best things about this place is that because it’s so busy, the chicken you get is fresh out of the fryer. Although I loved the chicken, I do think the skin could have used a little more seasoning(crack seasoning from big mama’s or rudy’s would’ve been awesome). The sides and roll were meh, very reminiscent of elementary school cafeteria food. The roll was really bland and I couldn’t even finish it. I do admit that the powdered mashed potatoes were pretty satisfying though. I like that they season their fries with lemon salt(gives them a nice tang), but they definitely added too much salt. But whatever, it’s the chicken that matters, right?

Bubba’s is awesome, and is actually the original«Babe’s Chicken.» I didn’t realize that until I went to Bubba’s and read their history on their website when we received«Babe’s» plastic cups. Unlike Babe’s Chicken, the fixin’s here aren’t unlimited, and the menu is a la carte.(I actually prefer this because I eat WAY too much if the fixin’s are unlimited.) My favorite entrée to get here are the chicken tenders, which are cooked perfectly and are always fresh, crispy, and delicious. I recommend the baked beans as a side(those are the best ever) and also the mashed potatoes. Make sure to order enough rolls /biscuits to enjoy with some butter and honey. Don’t overlook the banana pudding for dessert. It’s awesome. Also, for breakfast – the biscuit sandwiches look amazing(though I haven’t tried one yet). The pancakes are VERY good, but I think that Kuby’s Sausage House has pancakes that are ever-so-slightly better. Like Babe’s, the portion sizes are huge, and the half-portion options are quite good for most appetites, but fairly expensive. However, for about a dollar more, you’ll find the full portion a much better value.(Thus is the folly of pricing at Bubba’s.) That’s my only complaint about Bubba’s — it is a little spendy, but still not expensive. Overall, delicious place that’s worth a detour. They have a drive thru as well, though at busy times, expect the line to snake into Snider Plaza.

How often do you eat fast food fried chicken with white cloth napkins at your fingertips?!? Yes, Bubba’s is certainly different from your average fried chicken shack. The line for the drive-thru was wrapped around the building and down the street when I walked up, so I was grateful to find plenty of seats inside and no wait at the cash register. Be prepared with your order as soon as you open the door, because the employees here are hustlers(a good thing!). The proteins stay the same day to day, but the veggie sides rotate each day. While I was disappointed not to see fried okra on the menu for my visit, I went with a strong second, the squash casserole, to accompany my fried chicken breast. All meals come with a large, sweet yeast roll. And of course, when dining in, real silverware rolled up in a white cloth napkin. Yes, cloth napkins to go with your $ 6 lunch. I’m from Georgia, so I know my fried chicken, and it did not disappoint. The bone-in chicken breast is actually one of the hardest pieces to cook properly, because it has to be cooked so long because of its thickness but easily dries out because of its lack of fat. Here at Bubba’s, they know exactly what they’re doing because my chicken breast was perfectly juicy all the way through. Though I picked off most of my skin(a girl’s got to watch her calories some where), the few bites I did try were absolutely amazing, and I had to exercise lots of willpower to not scarf all that crispy goodness down. The squash casserole could have just as easily been named cheese casserole. It was ooey, gooey, bechamel laden goodness. But actually, I saved the best for last: that ROLL! Usually I’m not a bread person, preferring to save my carbohydrates for something chocolate laden. But this roll was worth skipping dessert over. I have no idea how they make it so fluffy, yet so dense and marvelously chewy. It was dinner roll perfection, and about the same size as my(giant) piece of fried chicken. Yes, Bubba’s may not be your typical five star kind of dining experience, but for what it is, it is absolutely as good as it gets!
