Did it close? I will still write a brief review because this place had the BEST french toast of my life and if the universe has taken this from me just when I’ve discovered this, I owe it to that delicious brunch to give it five stars. The stuffed french toast was not too sweet(something encountered too often) but not lacking in flavor. The blackberry compote was so good, I finished the whole thing. If I could I would have it every weekend but it seems I might have to go on the(french toast) rebound.

Very good food! Went for Sun. brunch, we had the Southerner, and Blueberry Mascarpone Pancakes. Both were amazing! Service was excellent, our order came pretty quick. Our server was very friendly, and attended to us beyond great!(Didn’t get her name, sorry) She repeatedly checked on us, and even answered my? about Vodka in the syrup. She was very efficient and sweet! Highly recommend to those who want quality service, and food!

Thank you Boxwood! They have really turned it around. The service is so much better than it was. There seems to be a manager on the floor at all times keeping everything running smoothly. He’s great. He’s not afraid to seat a party, bus a table or take a drink order when necessary. After a good start, then lackluster middle, Boxwood is back and in our regular go-to places again. Which is awesome as I do love that cheese plate!

I want to start off by saying that I never complain at restaurants and have never felt enough disappointment to write a Unilocal review… This has been the worst experience at a restaurant/bar in my life. We sat on the patio and had about 14 people on a not so busy Thursday. We all ordered drinks and food. The drinks, which were only bottled/canned/draft beer, took more than 30 minutes to deliver to the table. The waitress and her helper apologized and blamed the bartender. The next round was the same story. Poor bartender, it wasn’t even his fault. One of my friends ended up waiting 2HOURS for a chicken sandwich. Not long after I ended up going to the bar and reordering my drink. When I got there I saw all of our drinks sitting on a tray… this was after we had waited another 20 minutes. The waitress then said that I could take the tray of drinks to the table if I wanted to. So we did. When we complained again, the waitress again blamed the bartender. After that, the manager came over and apologized and offered us a round of shots. He also played the blame game saying that their best server who is pregnant, wasn’t there. The friend who STILL hadn’t gotten his food was then brought a comped meal, which was the wrong order. We have all come here numerous times and are severely disappointed by the service. If this is how Boxwood serves loyal neighbors, NOTHANKS.

Although a wonderful potential lies at boxwood, the follow through is just not there. The food is subpar, the drinks are OK, and the service… Is non-existent. Management doesn’t allow dogs on an outside patio– they are two blocks from a dog park. Overall they COULD be a highly successful restaurant, they have chosen personal management over customer satisfaction. Almost, but no.

Easter Sunday came and I was excited to get my brunch on… After all, those two go hand in and hand! Prior to meeting my friends(that were already seated) I scoped out the menu and had them«preorder» for me so the food was ready and waiting! I opted for the cheddar biscuit eggs benefit but with smoked salmon instead of the normal ham slice. Upon arrival(15 mins after the order was placed), things went immediately downhill. Here’s just the checklist of my experience there: — It took 10 minutes to get a glass of water, even though I was acknowledged when I walked in — My dish didn’t come out til 30 mins later after I arrived; that’s 45 mins later after placing an order. kind of understandable if the place was busy. but the restaurant was less than half full. –After getting my dish, I had to wait another 10 minutes to get silverware and a napkin. At this time, I also had asked for ketchup and hot sauce(I had a feeling though it would be a while) –My dish was cold(not even room temp) as if it had been sitting out but long forgotten to deliver. –There was no smoked salmon, just the standard ham –When the server finally came with a side of hot sauce and ketchup my dish had about 2 bites left, and I informed her of the salmon mistake. no big deal, but just wanted to let them know –15 mins after my dish was cleared, a side order of grilled salmon(not smoked for benedict) arrived; I told the server that I didn’t order it, and even though the dish I originally received was incorrect, I had been done for about 15 mins… Now aside from the mistakes, how was the food you ask? Well the fact that I didn’t get to enjoy it hot(warm even), the potatoes were cold, and the cheddar biscuits were dry and hard, I was severely disappointed, especially since it was my cheat meal for the week! Overall, not a great experience is putting it lightly, and I didn’t even get any kind of empathy on their mistakes. After calling out their mistakes, and my bad experience, they removed the dish completely from my bill. Although I appreciate that, it just seemed silly that I even was charged in the first place. Needless to say, I will not be returning. Sad, sad day for this cute littel location

I came here around 10 pm with my five of my friends to have a nice chill night. We were seated promptly and had high hopes because of the nice atmosphere and crowd. However, we were disappointed to see the small mix menu and ordered some cocktails along with simple staple(usually) strong drinks from the bar to get things going. Much to our dismay, the drinks were Very small and cost around $ 9. Even the gin and tonic was drowned in ice and in one watery, poorly mixed gulp, my friend drank down her expensive«drink». I had a mule(one of my favorites) and though it was strong, it wasn’t good. We tried to give it another shot by going simple and ordering tequila shots and vodka sunrises, only to be disappointed again. The server wasn’t quite sure what to do with our disappointment and assured us that that was the best they could do and that disappointed us further. It’s better to spend your money elsewhere that has quality mixology. Oh well. At least their food looks good in the pictures and the exterior/interior is nice.

Sunday brunch — group of five for a reservation. Two of us arrived early and sat at the bar. We shared the Mimosa trio. I liked the fruit variety and the fact that they serve you a bottle of champagne instead of over diluting it with juice. Crissy(manager type?) came by and introduced herself. She and the bartender were friendly. Our friends arrived and we sat at our table and had a mixed order of wings, the BBQ and the honey chili. They both were very good, the bbq was light. I had the chicken cobb salad and it very good, with nice pieces of fried chicken strips. Husband had the pulled pork tacos and they would’ve been excellent, except for the scrambled egg frittata shape that was another layer under the pulled pork. It was overdone and too thick. The pork was tasty, pico and smoky crema was alright. Others had the burger, chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. All good, nothing outstanding, but good. We also ordered the bloody mary and the grand mimosa, since we finished the bottle of champagne. Had to ask for the bacon. They finally brought us out a piece that was about 3 inches long. And no shishito pepper. If you’re going to advertise it — then serve it. The grand mimosa was supposed to have raspberry peach Grand Marnier, it there was a light taste of it. For $ 6 I guess it worked. The brunch menu is limited. I might try this place again for lunch. The atmosphere was nice and patio was very inviting. By the time we left the sun was out and it was busy out there.

What a great find! We ran into this place on a Friday night. It was the exact ambience we were looking for. A place where we can drink, listen to good music but still have the ability to socialize comfortably. They had various board games, we chose taboo and that kept us entertained for the remainder of the night. I also saw That they have various events/specials throughout the week, including trivia, drink specials, wine night. The only thing I wasn’t too fond of was my drink being flooded in leaves. I would like to come back during brunch sometime!

I wanted to like this place, but sadly I left feeling very unsatisfied with my experience, which was an extra bummer because I was only in Dallas for 24 hours and I know there are better places for brunch. The highlights: Vodka Berry Pancakes. My friend ordered them, I had 2 bites, AMAZING! My Grand mimosa was also very good. Others said the bloody mary was good as well, but its supposed to come with bacon… they even asked about the bacon… no bacon. Lows: I really am not trying to be a grade A snob here, but I think the hostess was wearing pajamas. Brightly colored leggings, with a cotton tshirt, and a hoodie. Yes, its 10am on Sunday, but you’re at work. Service was not great. It was very slow, and our waiter seemed wholly uninterested in any questions we had. And the bloody mary people didn’t get their bacon. I ordered the cheddar biscuits and gravy, and the biscuits were hard, rock hard. The gravy helped a little, but biscuits should never be too hard to pierce with a fork. The breakfast potatoes were«eh». They tasted as if they were previously frozen. I managed to get bacon, and it was really good! I felt bad for my friends who didn’t get any.

TLDR: This seems to be a bar that happens to have food. If you want drinks and not food then this place is alright. If you want quality food go elsewhere. Food — Appetizer: We ordered the pretzels which were not traditionally shaped pretzels but rather more of a baguette. They were pretty good and the highlight of the meal. Entrée: I ordered the $ 13BTG Big D Burger cooked medium with bacon. The burger came out well done with the bacon overcooked. While this isn’t the worst burger I have had, it wasn’t far from it. Wendys is a step up from this place. I could have gone to Kenny’s burger joint and had a burger that was 50x better and have saved $ 3. My girlfriend ordered the Turkey Burger which came out under cooked as parts of it appeared pink.

Went here for brunch with 3 girlfriends. The place was not crowded and we were able to sit on the patio due to the nice weather. Patio is certainly the place to sit. The service was horrible. To the point we sat with our food for 10+ minutes while we waited for silverware that we had asked for two times. I can understand a delay if they were slammed but that wasn’t the case. Internet was down so credit card transactions were delayed. Not a huge deal but our server Dorie never told us and we had to learn that from a different waiter. Positive is the $ 20 mimosa basket(1 bottle of champagne and 3 juices).

This is a nice place for drinks and food. It is an open area with lots of room to accommodate a nice size crowd. The appetizers are just as big as a full dinner plate. I had the pulled pork nachos were somewhat on the greasy side and had only a bit of pulled pork. The chicken bacon sandwich was surprisingly good and the fries were nicely seasoned.

Damn this place is good. I got the vodka berry pancakes and even though they were amazing I should have ordered something else… 3HUGE pancakes. nothing but CARBS. I couldn’t even finish half! My eyes were bigger than my stomach. We got the mimosa trio which is 3 small glasses of orange, strawberry/kiwi, and another juice(cranberry I think?).and of course a bottle of champ. I mixed all 3 flavors like a kid at a soda machine and it was the best mimosa I’ve ever had. Sit outside if the weather is nice! They have a great patio.

I came in here for the first time on Sunday for brunch and immediately was excited because there was no wait and we were seated right away, which in this area is not common. My excitement decreased as we sat and waited for service for almost 10 minutes and lowered even more when we waited 20 minutes for our meal. BUT…All of that change the moment the food arrived. We split the Southerner and the FGTBLT(If I remember correctly). The southerner was awesome, that biscuit and gravy and thick bacon were to die for! But it was the Fried Green Tomato BLT that will keep me going back again and again for brunch. If you can’t decide on what to order do yourself a favor and get this. So I’d say yeah the service was not good, we only saw our server twice, once when he took our order and twice when he dropped our food. We had to ask someone to get him to get our check. Thankfully the food made up for the inattentiveness.

While in Dallas my BFF thought it would be a delight to go to a Sunday«morning» brunch during the World Cup game I had no intention of watching. That’s not entirely true. Didn’t care about the world cup and went to Boxwood for a friend’s Bday. Nevertheless, I was pumped. Now, what I’m about to say is not an original statement by any stretch, but I love brunch. Boxwood is in a very nice neighborhood with a ton of swanky apartments. If I lived next door I’d probably come here for meals all of the time. The place was fairly crowded which I suspect has a lot to do with the World Cup but maybe not! It’s not really a sports bar vibe at all but it works. I went with the Morning Glory Burger that had fried egg, cheddar, hollandaise sauce, lettuce, and bourbon onions on it. It was realllll good. The combo of the hollandaise sauce and fried egg made this a rather… unhealthy meal. It was greasy but well worth it. The fries came in a mini«fryer» basket and were delicious. They had flavor! Not your average boring fries. I would get it again but some friends got The Southerner that looked event better. I would deff go for something else if I came back but didn’t regret the burger. We had a carafe of the Mojito Prosecco that was something I’ve never had before. It was light, refreshing, and delish! We ordered the Mimosas but the service was pretty bad that day and they never came out /cries. I don’t know if it’s a re-occurring thing but it was bad. They said they were short-staffed so I gave them some grace but they never brought out the Mimosas(we asked a few times) and took a long time to get to the table. The bonus is our food came out fast! Feed me and I’m happy. Pretty simple. They also had outdoor seating! However it was quite hot and I was not in the mood for that. Maybe another time.

Had brunch here, seems like a pretty laid back spot. We arrived a little after 11, and I guess brunch doesn’t start till later in Dallas as it was empty. Over the course of a few hours though as we ate, more and more people filtered in and it did fill up eventually. Drinks we tried were all good, especially the smoked cherry old fashioned, but in all honesty I lost track of what all we had after the first few. Food was good all around too! We had the southerner, the cheddar biscuit benedict, and the brunch FGT. I’d probably eat any of these again, though the rest of their menu looks interesting too. I’d probably frequent this if I lived in Dallas!

We came here on a Saturday for brunch and brought our dog along. It was great to try a new restaurant in town that was able to deliver good food. The owner stopped by our table and thanked us for bringing our dog. He mentioned that a part of the outside area is carved out for pet friendly customers. It was nice to have met with the owner and that added a personal touch to customer experience. I had the Southern for breakfast and was delicious. I don’t know what they put in the gravy, but it was insanely good! My wife liked her strawberry basil drink. I will for sure to come back and dine in as it has a nice open layout to it.

After a few more trips, boxwood has become really consistent and it has some of the most personable bartenders in uptown. You won’t feel weird going stag here. During the day the patio bar is great to watch a game. The soft pretzel appetizer is really nice and actually pretty light so you don’t feel shitty after. The chicken wing lollipops were ultra spicy and most importantly very tender. It was well past brunch and I wanted a la carte eggs, toast, and bacon so the bartender put out the word to kitchen and they specially brought out a plate of that for me and I even was introduced to the sous chef. The bacon was crisp. The brioche toast is a little too rich for me but one slice of that in a runny egg yolk makes for a nice meal. Props to boxwood. Magic eightball says: I see longevity.
