Lately, seen some folks doing what looks to be some renovations to this spot. Saw writing on the window this morning about a“Holiday Popoff” this Saturday from 11am — 3pm. It would be nice if it re-opened. Location is great for a quick bite or bottle of wine.

A little birdie told me Big E’s is closing :( It’s a great spot to grab a daquiri, mudslide, piña colada, 40, soda, snacks, and if you need them, last minute I-forgot-to-grab-it-on-my-last-Target-run stuff. You can park anywhere you want in front of or around the side of the building. The food they make is cheap and tasty fast mexican style stuff. Free delivery in the area, and nice owners. I hope the rumor isn’t true. Will be sad to see it go!

Had lunch at Big E’s today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered a beef taco and shrimp taco. The food was made fresh right before my eyes. Two tacos and a drink for $ 5.75. The place has nice feel to it. It’s hard to beat a giant wall of cold beer while your enjoying your tasty tacos. I’ll be back soon.

The place is a-ok. I’m a 7 – 11 gal, but since the one on Gaston was demolished(it’s being rebuilt) I decided to stop in Big E’s. Plus I try to support the Deep Ellum community, and nothing in this spot has lasted. 7 – 11 has them beat in wine choices, but 7 – 11 doesn’t have a deli. I haven’t been able to sample that yet since I believe they are only open during the week. But maybe one day if I have a day off I’ll try them. I saw a flyer on my door once that they deliver too from the deli. Woohoo. PS — There’s free parking in the back.

This is what a corner store should really be. Stop by and get a pack of beer and don’t forget to order a burger… they have a really good breakfast and lunch menu.

I just moved into the neighborhood and was a little miffed that there wasn’t a corner store. There are a couple shops within walking distance that make no sense… A cash checking place, a psychic, a cleaners, and a law office. One spot is for lease and I thought it would be perfect for a little beer store/deli. I was getting depressed because I like to ride my scooter around the neighborhood and my old hood, Lakewood, was perfect for that. I almost put the scooter up for sale when I stumbled, literally, upon the front steps of Big E’s. They have a good beer selection and a deli. Big E’s «cup o’ soup and ½ sammy» four bones. They only serve soup and sandwiches for now, but they are bringing on a full time cook to serve BBQ, burgers and the like. Order a «build your own masterpiece» and get a free high five with every purchase, as stated on the menu. Oh, I know what your thinkin… «Say somthin funny punk» Beer, wine, deli, cigarettes, lottery, snacks, candy, ice cream, fresh coffee. Make me.
