I’ve been coming to Richard for nearly 2 years now and I can’t say enough positive about his work. Aria is one of the more reasonably priced salons in the neighborhood, but it’s more than just that. Richard Flores truly cares about a good client experience as evident by his responses to reviews. Knowing what I know of Richard, I’d recommend this salon to anyone!!!

Love going to this salon because it’s so relaxing and everyone is really friendly. Richard Flores is a hair stylist there and he does amazing work. I’ve been going to him since I moved to Dallas 10 years ago. I highly recommend this salon if you are looking for fun conversations, laughs, great hair, and relaxation.

Despite some of the bad reviews, you have to remember its a salon, they have more than one person who does hair. For me, its Jim. He is awesome! The salon may need a coat of paint here and there but I’m there for a haircut, which I get a great one. Go in or call and ask for Jim. His prices are reasonable for a great hair cut. And it doesn’t matter if you wait three or five weeks for another haircut, he knows what he’s doing and you’ll look great till you see him again.

I have been going to Carl for years. I love that I can go to one person for great color and a hair cut and that it’s not crazy expensive. If you want to spend a ton of money for the snobby salon experience then this isn’t the place for you. If you want great color, a great haircut, and good service then you should call Carl Sheehan at Aria Salon. 214−528−9573

I won a gift certificate here back in october for cut and color. Jaye is awesome and definitely knows what he’s doing. I really dislike testing out new salons but I had a certificate. The place is pretty down to earth for oaklawn. The final result was the best haircut and really complimented my face and the color was pretty. I received my first compliment on my haircut by a girlfriend. This was the first time ever. Thank you Jaye & Aria. You guys are wonderful.

When a hair salon is constantly selling all kinds of «Groupon» for over a year, I should be suspicious. Out of curiosity I got a half price shampoo and blowout coupon to give it a try. My first impression as soon as I walked in is: this place is dirty! It looks like a barbershop in the burbs rather than a hair salon in Oak lawn. I try not to be snob about it, till I find out the hairdresser can’t even do a blowout properly! I am just grateful I didn’t have a haircut or worse, color!

I think giving one star to this salon is generous. This place was incredibly hard to find. Once there, I was eventually greeted by someone after several minutes of standing around and waiting. I had a Groupon for a color, cut, and style. My stylist, Paul, proceeded to tell me that he would not be doing the hair cut featured in the photo I brought(probably because he couldn’t do it). I explained to him that I wanted warm red color. He gave me cool red color instead. A color and cut should take about 2 hours, he laughed that we barely took one hour. He did not leave the color on long enough so it did not take evenly. It looked like an absolute joke. I have fine hair that is prone to heat related breakage. I explained this concern to him as he proceeded to flat iron my hair and advised me that I should flat iron my hair. He spent about 5 minutes«cutting» my hair in a way that I cannot stand. All of my friends and coworkers admitted that my hair didn’t look any different. The employees at this salon do not listen to what the customer wants. But the biggest problem of all was not the dank location, rude employees, or a stylist who didn’t know what he was doing. The worst thing of all was the racism and bigotry. During my entire treatment, Paul thumped a Bible and explained to me why«mixing races is an affront to God» and how men should not lie down with other men. The salon is located on Oak Lawn so there were plenty of people with alternative lifestyles listening to Paul very loudly spew these vile comments. I’m in an interracial relationship and did not appreciate his opinions at all. Paul is an unprofessional, grotesque human being who thought since I am white that I must agree with his asinine ideas. Hope Paul gets what he deserves. I would not suggest this place even to my enemies. I can only assume the positive reviews on here are fake.

Note to self: Look on Unilocal before buying a Groupon. I hate to give places bad reviews. However, I just didnt have a great experience here. First of all it is very hard to find hidden below the street level. Then the hot water went out. The stylist straightened my hair so much that my hair smelled burned the next day. Also, when he was straightening it I could hear strands breaking. I mean good thing hair grows and I just got a trim. Looks like I will pay the extra bucks for a better salon next time!

I went in for a haircut, style and color. I was pretty excited since this had good reviews but was very disappointed after i got out. I was a blonde, told them i wanted a light brown color so the change wouldnt be too drastic. Instead I got out of there with black hair! After he washed it he didnt even professionally blowed dryed it, he left it frizzy and did not style it. I got out of there with a ponytail. I couldnt believe it… never going back there again.

Can’t begin to imagine how anyone could say they had a good experience here. Maybe it’s the owners themselves commenting? I had to get a major haircut to donate to Locks of Love. I called ahead and told them that’s what I needed. When I got there the place was dirty and Tom, the«hairdresser» who took care of me reeked of cigarettes. I repeated to him exactly what I wanted: To cut exactly 8 inches of my hair in a ponytail to donate. I told him I had even waited several extra months because I don’t like short hair on me and didn’t want my hair to be any shorter than my shoulders. I can’t begin to imagine how you could possibly mess up such a specific request, but he did. BIGTIME. He didn’t measure at all, and he clearly has zero personal criteria, because he cut off 15INCHES of my hair. That’s almost DOUBLE what I had requested. I told him my hair was much, much shorter than I had requested, and his answer was«Really? I cut that much off? Oops!» I would NEVER, NEVERNEVER return to this place, where TOM is quite possibly the WORST«hairdresser» I have ever encountered. Unless you want to have your hair done by someone who after what he claims are«many years in the business» still can’t tell the difference between 8 inches and 15, and doesn’t care enough to give his customers what they want, I would AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS.

What do I look for in a hair salon? Aria hits it on all of these points: #1 — a great haircut Ask for Tom, the co-founder and co-owner of the salon. He’s been my hair stylist since the mid-90’s. He has never given me a bad haircut and I have referred many friends to him. #2 — easy appointment-making I always go on Saturdays and it’s super-easy to make an appointment and get in pretty much whenever you want. #3 — a shampoo Relaxing, deep-clean shampoo seems to just top off a haircut trip and they have several types of product to use, all nicely aromatic and pleasant. #4 — close by Located between Lemmon Ave and Cedar Springs across from Eatzi’s, they’re located close enough to Central for me to get there quickly. And there’s always plenty of free underground garage parking. #5 — a moderate talker Tom’s not the kind of gab-gab-gabby hair stylist who wants to dish and gossip the whole time. He’s very laid back, relaxed and matter-of-fact. What he might lack in the latest scoop on so-and-so’s affair or the scandal with the business next door he more than makes up for with his expertise with the business end of a pair of sheers.
