I have used this business, my mother-​in-​law and I have sent my daughter and others here for truthful and honest car repairs. I would not go anywhere else. It’s so nice to feel so comfortable with people who know their stuff and charge fairly. I dread the day if Jim ever retires!

These guys are the rarest of the rare – expert and fair! I have needed them multiple times on all my kids cars as well as my own, and have sent all my friends to Jim for over 20 years, and have experienced uniform excellence in every aspect of customer service and automotive repair!

I finally got a Unilocal login so I am going to finally do this review. I work at Texas Instruments and have been using Advanced for probably close to 20years now. We use them for all four cars in the family and even after my work location changed we still drive down from Allen to use them. As many of the reviews mentioned, they only do what is needed and you save a lot over other places. I have called many times when on road trips as well asking for advice and Jim is always helpful even when he knows I can not bring the car in to him. They really care about getting the right work done on your car. Can’t say enough about the integrity of Advanced!

I cannot say enough good things about Jim Koebel and his shop. My brother in law recommended Jim to me a few years ago and I’ve had several occasions to need mechanical help since them. Jim’s diagnostic skills far surpass any other repair shop or dealership where I’ve gotten quotes, he does not over sell and charges like in the good olé days. Case in point — my Acura MDX was diagnosed at Acura and another independent mechanic as needing a new water pump. Jim looked at it and said all it needs is a new gasket on the water pump. Jim charged about $ 65 for the 100% effective repair when the other guys were quoting me around $ 700. Even if the location is not convenient for you, it is worth the trip to go see Jim.

I recognize that when a company/​business has nothing but glowing reviews people are leery of «planted» reviews, but I can assure you that I am a patron of Jim’s and have not been paid to enter this review.
With that said, I have recommended a number of people to Jim and everyone has been very pleased with his work. He knows his stuff! I have been using him for more than 10 years as well, and the couple of times I thought I could use someone else I have regretted it. I will no longer take my 2000 Honda minivan (or any car I own) to anyone other than Jim. He is very reasonably priced and is very quick with repairs! If you need a trustworthy car guy who has been around for 30+ years call Jim and let him help get your car working!

Jim is great, he’s as honest as it gets and that’s what earns his customers loyalty. He is my go to mechanic for any problems. I highly recommend him.

Jim is as honest as they come, and incredibly competent. I trust him completely, and his prices are reasonable. Can’t recommend him enough.

I can’t believe more people have not Unilocaled on Jim and his shop. i’ve been going to him for over 13 years. The only reason I don’t have him work on my car is becuase HE won’t work on it (my German stuff).
I refer a lot of friends to him as well, and each time, I get a glowing review from them. The most recent was from a friend who first went to The Drivers Edge in Plano to fix a starting problem. They charged him $ 500 for plugs, wires, etc., and told him it was fixed, even when he was able to reproduce the problem in front of them. One trip to Jim, a few minutes and a starter, later, the car was as good as new.
The shop is not ritzy. But Jim is an honest mechanic, diagnosis things quickly, doesn’t fix something that’s not broken, and gets you back on the road in no time, and is a car enthusiast to boot. I’ve dealt with a lot of mechanics (both high end, middle, and low), and Jim is my first choice every time. If you have a Japenese or domestic car, you really shouldn’t go anywhere else.
