Stopped in on a Sat. afternoon, so I guess I should have expected it. The bar was full of «regulars» drinking shots and martini’s at 2 in the afternoon. I think me and my buddy were the only ones drinking beer in the bar. Hard core Barflys.

A dive above It’s not every day you find a dive worth stopping on your way home. It’s in the middle of a two story strip mall and a 7-Eleven. Walk in and you will be amazed by a bar that looks small on the outside but is almost cavernous on the inside. A large island bar in the center with 2nd story loft surrounding it. There are TV screens and pool tables scattered all around. Come for the regulars, who are a mainstay. They are so friendly that it’s hard not to strike up a casual conversation. Here everyone knows your name by the 3rd visit. The crowd is mostly older, but the live music days normally brings in younger crowd. Drinks are usually cheap, strong and simple, probably not the place to ask for an old fashioned. However they do carry a extensive beer selection, if you are so inclined. Stepping up

Had a really good experience here! John was our bartender and honestly he was so AMAZING! Someone needs to give this guy a promotion, he was a taking care of me and my friend, also a ton of others but the thing was that our drinks tasted great! I loved my Vegas bomb with cranberry and my friend loved the amount of cuervo gold he got, he said it was not too much and not a little, juuuuuust right! Really good bar :)

This is the best neighborhood bar in the neighborhood. Bartenders are great and will learn your name and your preferred poison quickly. Regulars are good people. Live music on Friday and Saturday night. Cheap beer and good conversation any day.

You’re not going to find prim and proper ladies here. In Game of Thrones, this is a tavern on the King’s Road — not a fine dining house in King’s Landing. But as with all good stories, you’ll find things more interesting out here, away from the hustle of important people and their problems. This might even be up north of the Wall. Basically if you live in a 2 mile radius of ‘Step Up’, it should be on your list. If you’re like me, around 1 mile, then it’s a regular visit type of deal.

A true dive bar in a strip mall. A great break from designer imported beers– instead get a Coors, a cigarette and soak in the dirty stories of the regulars. Cheap drinks, neon signs, and on some nights country music. A Step Up is a casual, fun dive bar, but a step up from what?

If you’re looking for a laid back neighborhood bar that has the good sense to book great local musicians then A Step Up is the place to hang out with friends have a few drinks and get your groove on. The service was great; friendly and efficient without a lot of hovering… which is what you want from a neighborhood bar. Last night a band by the name of Blue Lucy played and if you’re into an eclectic blend of classic rock, soulful ballads with a sprinkle of pop propelled by some of the best musicianship from first guitar to drums and vocals that I’ve heard in awhile then you missed out. I will definitely be returning to A Step Up and will keep my fingers crossed that Blue Lucy will be there too.

OK. This is a neighborhood dive bar. But I LIKE that. The bartender«Jimmy» was friendly and there whenever my beer got low. The music was better than average. Drinks were ridiculously inexpensive compared to some of the other local places I had been to this week. One last thing — they apparently allow smoking in the bar(which I HATE) but I didn’t notice the smoke. Want to meet cute girls? Don’t come here. Want to relax, watch the game, and get served affordable drinks? Come here.

This a great place to hang out and have a few drinks with friends and the regulars. The bar doesn’t look like much tucked away in strip mall that has definitely seen better days. I will tell you the one constant in that strip mall has been and I’m sure will continue to be is A Step Up Lounge. The bar is actually much larger inside then you would think it has two levels and the place could be a great location for a bachelor party. The staff there is very quick to serve drinks and is always on top of making sure your glass or beer stays more then half full. I love the live music on Friday nights is great. The crowd is laid back until they play some great music and then you can see people all over the bar dancing almost anywhere around you. The drinks are stiff and the beer is cold and it is calling you to make your way there.

Fun place. Pool, darts, bar games. $ 7 pitchers and bucket beer specials. Live music on the weekends. Tuesday and Thursday are karaōke nights and are awesome! Good bartenders. A yes there is a bud light tarp on the wall that could protect the whitehouse from a flood!

This place is behind a gas station, in a strip mall, next to an old coin store… and I love it. The booze is really cheap, a scotch and soda cost me $ 2.50. I forgot how pleasant it is to be able to smoke inside and not have to use a plastic cup full of water as an ash tray. My trip home to Dallas really surprised me to find out it isn’t illegal to smoke indoors some places. My friends and I were definitely the youngest people in the bar, possibly the youngest people who ever set foot in the bar, but that didn’t stop the staff from being very friendly and helpful. The bartender goes around to the tables to make sure everything is okay, and brings you another drink if you want one. They have a Coors light tarp big enough to protect the white house from a flood.
