I was super excited to try this place today for lunch since I was craving chinese food but I was super let down. First of all more than $ 5 for a 2 side combo is expensive but this place charged me over $ 6.50. Not a good sign. I ordered all chow mein, orange chicken and black pepper chicken. Smelled yummy, didn’t taste yummy. My black pepper chicken had jalapeños in it! Never have I ever ordered black pepper chicken with jalapeños. It was my fault for not paying attention to that but it made it horrible to eat, so horrible that I didn’t finish my food. The orange chicken was ok and so was the chow mein. Nothing special. I ended up throwing it away because it made me feel nauseous. I even felt like throwing up from this food. So sad… Their food looked good and the man was so nice plus they had boba and coffee drinks but if I do come back it’ll only be for the drinks sadly. :(

The new management is honestly GREAT! I walked in and the gentlemen was smiling and ready to make jokes. I said«I only have $ 6» and the gentlemen said«oh what! you can get a 2 combo!!!» I opted for the bowel with rice and chow me in, I saw som pepper chicken and asked if it was spicy, and he said if I wanted spicy to get the spicy chicken and it was his favorite(I mean how could I say no to chicken and jalapeños). So I went for it, BESTCHOICEEVER!!! Nice and spicy I will be coming back, that’s for sure!

Cool little local establishment, never been here before and it’s right around the corner from my place. Got the two combo plate($ 5.45) chow mein, cabbage and shrimp and spicy tofu. Oh yea and had to grab some egg rolls too. Awesome service I walked in roughly 7:55pm I didn’t know what time they closed because it doesn’t say on Unilocal.Posted the sign says 8 but since new mgmt they haven’t updated they’re open til 9. Dude was cool, hooked up the portions like everyone says ;) I’ll be back I’m sure. So cheap and so good for fast Chinese food :) ps: hoping for more seafood dishes or just shrimp dishes: D

Under new management as of a week ago. Food is VERY different tasting and not as good as with the previous owners. Rice is now bland and dry. Chow mien taste fishy. Service was ok. They have different items than before. Seems the food is out of can and not fresh.

First time here and it’s under new management. The dude behind the counter was a young and nice guy. Only been there a couple weeks now. Offered food to taste. I got a 2 item combo and filled the container over full which is the way I like it. He even gave me the 3 only wings left for free. Place was going to close soon cause it was getting late. Food was delicious and I’m definitely coming back! You should too!

I used to come here all the time in high school and it’s the same owner. He’s nice and friendly and generous with the amount of food plus it’s a very good deal! Prices are very good and the cost of soda is cheap too! Recommend better than other Chinese fast food places.

Food is not the greatest and it taste a little weird. Fountain drinks are horrible and the hot sauce is super watered down. Really disappointed

Currently eating it right now. It’s a typical Chinese fast food. Only difference is that it’s cheap here. I ordered a combo #1, which is one item, for less than $ 5. Orange chicken was delicious and the chow mein fried rice as well. Satisfied my craving without spending much.

First time here, good stuff. The staff is very friendly, they work as fast as they can. Good selection of food, good prices. 6 bucks and they pack your container as full as they can. The rice is on point, no hard pieces in it. Out of all the chicken, maybe two pieces were fatty. Overall, I will be back. Good stuff.

I have had a gamut of experiences with this place over the years(we’ve been going for about seven years), but here is why Hong Kong Express is awesome. First, the proprietor is extremely generous! When you order your food, which is cheaper than a combination plate at Panda Express, he gives you at least twice as much food as you would get elsewhere! He really jams it in there! In fact, he has even broken the to-go container before with the amount of food he insists on providing you with! Second, whenever we go there, he basically empties the entire jar of almond cookies into our bag! Food highlights: chow mein, beef broccoli, orange chicken

Excellent food. Extremely affordable. They always give you more rice/noodles than you need(which is good for an extra hungry customer). I visit this place often for lunch and would recommend it to anybody. *Note: I used to work at a Chinese Buffet restaurant owned by my best friend’s dad, so I’m extra picky about my Chinese food.

We went at lunch time. Although all items were steaming hot, food tasted stale and old. The orange chicken had a fish flavor robot. The broccoli tasted like it was boiled in rotten water. Cho mein had a very thick coat of something on the noodles that just didn’t sit right. We ended up throwing the food away.

Good fast cheap Chinese food. If you want that greasy heartburn tasty meal. This is a place.

Service was difficult. Broccoli with beef had a sliver of beef on top, but otherwise was all broccoli in some kind of sweet-like-candy glaze(not teriyaki, not oyster sauce either). Food tasted badly which was not only poor ingredients(mushrooms) but the preparations and food sitting for hours. They say they take Amex on the door, then there was an issue when I wanted to use it so they charged me more. One star is too generous. Such a waste of time and money, so I don’t want to write too much more and waste more time. I don’t write bad reviews unless it’s so terrible that I want to warn others away.

This Is my Go-to Chinese restaurant, fast, delicious, great service and good prices. I’ve tried everything on the menu before writing this review, orange chicken and teriyaki chicken with sauce is my favorite. Gotta love good food!

Came here to get something quick for lunch. I walked in and both of the employees were having their lunch break. One of them put his food down and was very welcoming. I got 2 two-item combos. Of course, stuff has been sitting out for a while under a heat lamp. With that said, the fried chicken wings weren’t crispy anymore. Orange chicken was good. Broccoli beef was good. String bean chicken was decent. Fried rice was dry and the noodles were oily. Could use more flavor, but it is what it is. And it’s relatively cheap for a combo and they pack your to-go box with food. I mean they utilize every square inch of that styrofoam box and more.

I wouldn’t even give it one star. I asked if they had sweet and sour pork they said yes and I waited. Turns out they didn’t. My kung pao chicken had 3 pieces of meat and 3,000 pieces of potato… I think it’s potato. The root beer was flat and tasted like vanilla soda. Worst meal I’ve ever bought. My boyfriend never craves Chinese food and the night he does we went to the worst place! Great! We will never eat Chinese food again. Horrible!

Looks so nasty and dirty… the food was old and cold from what I could see. The curry looked like jello in the pan. Green beans in the Green Bean Chicken looked like green raisin sticks. YUCK… only people inside were heroin chicks all drugged out and hungry.

Love this place! I found it when I moved to Cypress in 2003 and I have been a regular costumer ever since! Even after I moved to Buena Park. =) They have amazing orange chicken and fried rice. I get there teriyaki chicken but you have to ask for the teriyaki sauce to go on top or the side. I will continue to go there any chance I get.

I was craving some Chinese food and was low on cash so I looked to Unilocal for some help and decided to come here. I WASNOTDISAPPOINTED! I paid $ 4.45 for a 1 item combo plate. Let me just tell you. the portions here are super generous especially for that price. I could definitely feed 2, if not 3 people with how much food I had. You definitely get HOOKEDUP! I will definitely be coming back here!
