Great food and great location!!! My favorite are the Maui sandwich and the shrimp poor boy. I often order in a wrap instead of bun. Just an update… Still a great place to enjoy open air setting. Foods great I just wish smoking was not allowed … A group of three smoking cigars next to me ruined my meal

Came here for lunch on a nice sunny die and loved it. I love the fact that you’re waterfront dining. I love being able to see all the boats and even a few animals as im having my food. We saw some manatees right by our table. I wouldn’t sat it’s the nicest place but hey it’s cutler bay, can’t ask for much around here. The food was great, we ordered the fish dip appetizer(DELICIOUS), the Fried Grouper Sandwich, and Blackened Dolphin Sandwich both with sweet potato fries. The Dolphin Sandwich was definitely the best from what we ordered. The service was good too. We ordered the sweet potato fries after we placed our order, and when we got out plates we had normal fries. Without even saying anything our waitress attentively apologized and gave us both a side of sweet potato fries. Will definitely be coming back for lunch.

Good food, live music, waterfront tables. Service is hit or miss. Come when your not in the mood to rush and you’ll have a great time. My favorite is when a cold front hits and it’s a cool Miami night. Otherwise be ready to sweat. All in all cool local spot with closet feel of Keys style dining.

Went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and I must admit it was pretty darn good. We had calamari for appetizers with some cold beers and a cheeseburger and dolphin tacos. It was all very good. Great Service and live music as well.

We’ve been launching our boat at this marina for years, but we had never visited the restaurant. Now I know why! My husband and I went for dinner around 6:30 and were told the wait would be 45 minutes, but we were actually seated in around 10 minutes. The problem with this place is the mosquitoes! I wore pants since I knew that was possible, but once we were seated and waiting on our order I was getting mauled by them! So make sure you spray repellent unless you like getting eaten alive! Now as for the food, it’s okay. About the only thing we really liked were the appetizers we ordered and the fries that came with our meal. For being a seafood restaurant you would think they would know how to actually cook fish, but they don’t. My husbands crispy grouper sandwich was so dry he couldn’t even eat it. I had the fish and chips. I found the batter on the fish to be bland and the bottom was soggy. I don’t see us coming back to eat here again, unless it’s for appetizers and drinks.

Been here 3 or 4 times before, but tonight we had the worst service we’ve ever had, possibly anywhere. Our waiter has been missing in action all night. We had to stand up and find someone to order our drinks. Then again for re-fills. Then again for desert. It’s too bad we like this place. I have a mind to never come back.

Not great. Service was pretty bad. However, it could have been the particular server we had. Midway through it seems the shifts switched and the girl who attended us was very sweet. Prices are way too high. We ordered a dozen oysters which were $ 24 but for what we received, meh. They were okay at best. 5 coronas, 1 fish dip and a dozen oysters was around $ 60. Normally, that’s not bad but considering the place, service and quality, it just felt like way too much. Wouldn’t recommend.

I went here because I had a craving for fish & chips. I researched as many seafood places as I can in Miami just to find a place that was on the water and had a nice marina atmosphere for me to look out at and enjoy my food with. When I got there, it seemed like the visit was going well. There was a wait time that they said was 20 minutes and was actually more like 10 minutes. I was sat at a table where I can see the water from a distance but I was happy to be there. The server takes my order and gets drinks /puts in my food order. After a long wait, the food comes out and I’m eating it but the server doesn’t come back. No refills, napkins, being able to ask for anything, nothing. I had to wave at another server just to help me to bring lemons /more napkins to my table. By the time I’m done with my meal, I still had to wave at her just to get my bill. I pointed out to her«You abandoned my table» and she said«I’m sorry — can I get you a complimentary dessert?» I was able to pick any dessert that I would like on the menu to make up for this but it’s clearly not going to be enough to have me come back with a good impression. I would suggest not coming on a weekend because it’s packed and the servers are obviously being overworked since they’re flooded with tables. They have to bus their own plates in addition to serving meals. I would point out that it’s only management’s fault for letting this happen and they should have bus boys if they know the restaurant is going to be that busy. With that being said, I would say this — come to this place on a day when you can expect it won’t be busy. Come on a Tuesday or something when you know they’re not going to be particularly busy. You can come here when family comes from out of town and wants to get a taste of what South Florida is like and this is a perfect place to take them since there’s a beautiful view of the ocean. The food here is pretty delicious and hard to pass up – I’d have a hard time not coming back but I’m just planning to come back at a time when I know they won’t be as busy.

This review is a tough call for me because this is a local restaurant and it’s usually better but I’ll judge by today’s experience and update the next time I am here, I suppose. The place is currently packed for lunch. I only see three empty tables, that being said– the issue with letting people seat themselves is that there is no way to control how many tables a server gets at once. Our waitress was triple sat and I’m not sure she ever quite recovered from that fact. It’s hard to get your rhythm back after a start like that. So service suffered for sure. Nice lady but… We ordered the fish dip which looked lovely but the shell that it was served in was soggy– not the part with the fish but the sides of the shell– I wanted to blame the humidity maybe but for whatever the reason the shell went uneaten. The dip it self was tasty– a little sweet but when coupled with the jalapeños it had just the right kick. And sent me hunting down the server for more soda as I was sucking on ice to temper the heat. The dolphin Reuben… I always order it and always hopeful that this time they will get it right. No such luck this time. The bread was over toasted on the top(read: burnt) and sadly, soggy on the bottom– sensing a theme? I’m not sure if they even toast the bottom. if they do. Couldn’t tell which was a shame. The fish was good and fresh and the blackening spice was just right. I ended up eating the fish and slaw out of the bread and it was lovely. The dolphin avocado was good. Dolphin was cooked well, beans cooked and seasoned well and the plantains were a nice touch. No complaints there. My companion orders that every time and has never been disappointed. There are cats about. A few. They mind their own business and are very sweet. I happen to love a sweet cat so for us it was fun to watch them relaxing In the sun. They would have gotten a pat from me if it wasn’t for the fact that finger food had been ordered. The live band was good. Unobtrusive and lent itself to the ambience. I didn’t really notice them(in a good way) until they started playing sweet Caroline and the place lit up with a chorus of oh oh oh’s followed by a spattering of laughter by all of the participants who likely didn’t know they were going to bust out with an ‘oh’. At that part of the song subconsciously(Like me). It’s a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The sky is blue. The energy is good. People are happy. Give it a try…

This place is near my home to we go there very so often. I find it hit and miss. The servers are not always happy to be working and the bus boys and loud and hoisin get throwing dishes in the bus pans. The cleanliness could also be better as the last visit we had a dirty seat with food and napkins under the booth. I also was very unhappy with our waitress on our last visit… the hostess seated our party of 4 without menus. As she went to get menus our server came over and«barked» at us that we can’t seat ourselves. Before we could tell her we didn’t seat ourselves the hostess appeared with our menus. The waitress spent the rest of our visit trying to make up for her nasty attitude. Food: The smoked fish dip is always wonderful served in a fried flour tortilla with chips and crackers. I ordered the fish tacos and they were good, as always. The rest of my family ordered fried fish sandwiches and they were not as good as usual, very thin, greasy and over cooked. French fries were good.

Decided to have some dinner with the family somewhere close to the ocean to get some fresh air. When we got there we met the hostess at the front and left our name. The wait was about 30 minutes long. As we waited my boyfriend went to the bar and ordered some Costa Rican beers called Imperial they were very nice and smooth. When we were finally seated we had a great view of the dock and our waitress was very nice and attentive. We ordered fried calamaris as appetizer. I decided on a small bowl of Lobster bisque with the dolphin tacos that comes with 2 sides mine were cole slaw and their black beans. My son ordered the cheese burger well down with fries. My bf ordered the grouper sandwich that was fried. For dessert we ordered the Key lime pie. We were not disappointed with our orders the lobster bisque wasn’t my favorite but it was okay. Overall a really cool spot to come with family and friends. They also have a live band playing.

This is tradition Florida service. You can have what ever you want as long as you ask for it. Since Scotty’s is gone, this will be our new saltwater fresh air dinning haunt. Live music Sundays. The food is great. My cesar salad had fresh dresing and shaved Paramsean. The fries and fish and chips were fried to perfection, crisp and not oily. The dolphin tacos were a bit bland.

Absolutely love the atmosphere. The food was delish as well, I had the Fish and Chips and it was probably one of the best I’ve had. My fiancé had the fired grouper sandwich with cheese and bacon and he said it was on point. The food and location is a must visit at least 2 times a month. Our server Andre was awesome! Great guy!

Looooved this place! The ambience is so calm and relaxing. Sat outside on the deck part where I enjoyed the ocean view and watched the boats pass by. Our waiter Chris was fantastic. Need more waiters like him when I go out to eat places. He had a great calm and efficient personality. I tried the shrimp po boy and I want to go back for it again. It was so good I ate it with the pickles. I hate pickles but forgot to take them out lol so I just left them. Over all I gotta go back!!! The beer was great too!

Service excellent, food was good and at times wonderful. The best dishes on our visit were the Shrimp Po Boy and the conch fritters. We came for the atmosphere, we sat on the lower deck near the water and there was a nice breeze with comfortable seats and a great water front view. Now about that Shrimp Po Boy, huge shrimp on a buttered roll with wonderful, crunchy fries. The shrimp was not heavily breaded and it was perfectly cooked. it was delicious. The conch fritters are also crunchy morsels of decadent deliciosity. We also had blackened mahi tacos, a tad too salty and overseasoned but the fish was fresh and moist. Their steak was also cooked very nicely. I would recommend you go for a waterfront dining experience in Cutler Bay and have some drinks, conch fritters and that amazing shrimp po boy sandwich.

The atmosphere was cool and the live music was good. We had a seat right by the water which was nice, except for the fact that I was eaten alive by mosquitos, but that’s no one’s fault but my DNA. The service was definitely lacking. The waiter approached us with a cool, laid back vibe, and was knowledgeable about the menu, but once he took our orders, I think he totally forgot about us. We had to flag him down hard to get him to even take notice of us, and when we did make simple requests, he would forget and not bring it to us. One big one was forgetting a round of beer — do you not want to make money? It was busy, however, he spent most of the time hanging out with one table of people, who I would imagine were his friends. Not very professional. The food was OK. I had the fried fish sandwich. It was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had. The mashed potatoes that came with my boyfriend’s dish was super dry; the waiter more than willingly sent it back and had a fresh one made, but again it took so long. The spinach and artichoke dip was probably the best part of the dinner. Would consider going here for just music and some drinks, but not food. Don’t expect attentive service. Oh one good perk is that they DO provide bug spray if you need it! Very appreciated and helpful!

Great atmosphere and really good food! We showed up about 8 on a Saturday with a party of six and were able to get seats immediately, despite the place being packed. We are new to the area and Black Point had been recommended several times. With good reason!!! First thing, the service was awesome! Our waiter knew the menu, provided great suggestions kept our drinks full, and took really good care of us. Next, the food and drink… They were on point! With a party of six, I did get to try five different entrees and I wasn’t disappointed by any! I think, we had soft shell crab sandwich, fish and chips, Dolphin Avocado, Shrimp platter and grilled mahi. All the entrees were great but the Dolphin Avocado was the best(waiter recommendation)! We also had mussels which were okay(nothing wrong, just not great) and the a Rum Bucket served its purpose. Overall, I had a great time and enjoyed the food, and the service was great! On my next visit I’ll plan it so I can watch the drunk boaters crash into the dock. That will definitely add to the entertainment!

I give Black Point Ocean Grill(BPOG) actually 3.5 stars. I like that it’s the closest waterfront dining to my house. I prefer to go on weekdays for lunch when it’s less jam packed and hectic. On this visit, the atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The waitress was attentive and service was quick. Drinks were delivered quickly as well. The food is kinda hit and miss. The peel/eat shrimp were plump, good quality, and seasoned well. The stone crab bisque was AWESOME. The sandwiches(fried battered grouper and a yellowtail ‘po boy) were just, meh, OK. The one sandwich that I had on a previous visit that was quite good, was the dolphin Ruben. A lot of people in the community have told me this is a great place to go for the live music and bar scene on the weekends, but I haven’t been there yet. I also do not go here until late October. I avoid the summer months due to the heat and the mosquitoes from the nearby mangroves. I would recommend BPOG for those wishing to have a relaxed waterfront lunch experience without having to schlep up to the Grove or South Beach

Always a great experience dining at this hidden gem. I usually always go with the shrimp Po’Boy and sweet potato fries but honestly, everything on their regular menu is delicious. They offer daily specials on a separate menu which is nice. Their drink specials are pretty awesome too even though I love their sweet tea — it’s the best. Live bands on Friday nights, get there early on the weekends as the wait can be a little long. Prices are reasonable portions are above average.

It’s a decent little spot to go to if I do not feel like driving up to SoBe or if we’re docking the boat coming back we can stop there for a nice drink or bite. I love being by the water at times and having a little drink. I’m not crazy about frozen drinks, but theirs is pretty alright. The mahi mahi sandwich is ok to me. I just hate it’s by the dump and if they forget to cover the incinerator it will smell up the whole place and you can’t enjoy. Most of all it’s right by my home so it’s convenient and when the kids have ocean creatures as pets that die, this is where we have their funerals!

I been here on several occasions for lunch. Today I have to say that although I was sad that outdoor seating was closed because of the weather with sporadic rain bands we had the BEST service. Our waitress was Kristina L. She had a great attitude, provided great information and told us about their 5 de Mayo specials. I opted to try their Pork Tacos in honor of the holiday with sweet potato fries and spinach soufflé. Kristina saw me glancing at the desserts and pointed out that they had banana fosters cheesecake for a limited time now as well. That totally won me over as that’s one of my faves! So I added that to my order as well.(To share of course!) The service was fast, food was delicious, the pork in the tacos were deliciously marinaded and beyond amazing.

Truly delicious food in an area that could use a few more local places worth their salt. I ordered the fried grouper sandwich and was not disappointed. My co-workers orders appetizers and they were all pretty impressive. Great plating and presentation(especially for a marina) and delicious fried calamari. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was fresh and local. Plus they have those whole tiny squids that are the boooomb deep-fried. Didn’t get a fourth star though because they bring your drinks in… Styrofoam containers. I know they can recycle foam now, but you are a marina. Your entire business model hinges on ocean health. In a high breeze, your restaurant will actively pollute the ecosystem that keeps ya’ll in biz. Fix it!

After reading my fellow Unilocaler reviews, I took my family for lunch today. I liked the atmosphere it was very relaxed almost a feel of being at the keys. Since it was our first time I wasn’t aware that I needed to ask for outdoor seating if I want to sit by the water. However, we were given a booth that still gave us a water view. The service was good although not that friendly but treated well. The food was good, the price was reasonable as it is a seafood restaurant. The reason for my 4 starts is due to the bugs, my beer was accompanied by a bug on the outside of the bottle, giant ants or some type of bug crawling on the tables. But I understand that we are outside in the open and the bugs are part of it. It wasn’t like the place was dirty that is not the case I am just saying that if you don’t like creepy crawlers this place might not be for you. Overall, I will definitely go back, very relaxing with the live music playing in the background. Great atmosphere & good food– you can’t go wrong!

Such a lovely experience. I love Black Point for a number of reasons: 1. The atmosphere. Nice, natural outdoor seating with a beautiful view. The crowd that comes here is great and if you come when there’s live music playing, it’s really such a relaxing and fun environment. 2. The service. I came on a Sunday evening during sunset and it was packed. However, the hostesses were very friendly and gave us no problem when we specifically asked for seating nearest to the water. While we waited, we went to the bar which was packed but the bartenders were still mighty quick(so quick that I didn’t even know what I wanted yet) and very nice. When seated, our server was so friendly and down to earth and constantly checked up on us. And the food and drinks were served in a timely fashion. 3. The food! I don’t eat seafood yet I still love the food. I’ve had the quesadillas — great. But last time, I had the Black Point burger which that day was with provolone and chimichurri — PERFECT! One of the absolute best burgers I have ever had. Prices are reasonable given that it’s such a nice place. I love it here.

I have to agree with Mayli M’s review. I loved our food tonight but the server messed up our orders. Three of the plates came out wrong and worst of all one not even at all. So then we have to do that awkward dance of do we eat or wait for you to get your food. Ok. We’ll wait five more minutes. I swear we were midway through our meal before his arrived. and then to top it off it didn’t come blackened as he requested. wth? Well the waiter picked up on our faces of discontent and made it up by giving us a couple of drinks on the house. Three words to the waiters, Write It Down. If you’re not going to remember it it’s ok to pick up a pad and pencil to take our orders. The ambiance is great, casual dining and food is excellent. Wait staff needs improvement.
