This was mine and my fiancées second time staying here. We wanted to go on vacation but didn’t want to spend a ton of money with our upcoming wedding so a day or two getaway to the east end of Long Island was one way we could escape our everyday lives. Without hesitation, we knew we wanted to stay here again and we were not disappointed. Lorry & Jerry’s property is gorgeous and well kept. They are so friendly and of course, accommodating. The rooms are immaculate, the beds are comfortable, we had everything we needed and if we didn’t, Lorry & Jerry would accommodate us. The breakfast was delicious and we had a lovely conversation with Jerry & Lorry for about an hour after breakfast. Truly a great time here, and we will certainly be back for a third time! It’s a bit pricy but with that being said, it falls right in line with the rest of the B&B’s on Long Island. Definitely worth your money.

Owners Jerry and Lorry are some of the nicest people Tall Dad and I had ever met. They were warm, inviting, and we could tell that they genuinely cared about their craft. The owners built their house as a B&B, so everything was new, yet personal. Each suite has it’s own jacuzzi tub and fireplace, and feels private like a hotel, yet warm and inviting like a B&B should be. The Blue Iris is well kept and cared for, and their grounds ads are a nice walking distance to Bedells. The location also allows for an easy night out on the town, or to stay in and enjoy the rocking adirondack chairs around the beautiful fire pit. Lorry’s style was top notch — everything was designed and picked out for very specific reasons. Our room was american themed. But The Blue Iris truly shined at breakfast time! We were welcomed with lemon squares, coffee and a raspberry yogurt served on gorgeous china. Goblets of water, and juice felt expensive and hearty. Lorry and Jerry joined our conversation, but were not overbearing. Didn’t inject themselves into our time, but their opinions were a welcomed addition to our morning.

Blue Iris: A Serene & Enchanting Get Away Lorry and her husband were wonderful hosts for my girlfriend and I. We came in from Manhattan searching for a quiet and relaxing get away and that’s exactly what we got. Their house is absolutely beautiful and sits on a pristine piece of land, well-lit as you approach, and the gravel driveway reminiscent of an older long island but still very modern. Inside, the house is sublimely decorated with a classical piano selection playing in the background. The Rooms are upstairs, equipped with a fire place(turned on with the flick of a switch), a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and a firm queen sized bed. Our room was charmingly decorated with rusted treasure chest keys hanging from the wall and a 1920’s Country Wall Phone with a crank handle that actually turns. The rooms are as warm and inviting as they are comfortable and tranquil. The Blue Iris is truly an enchanting get away for anyone seeking to escape the stress and chaos of everyday life. Our host, Lorry, was absolutely delightful and as helpful as could be. As soon as we made our reservation with her, she recommended dinner/spa reservations(A Lure had the best peppercorn Tuna and the Blue Sage Spa had a very relaxing couples massage), and confirmed our reservation for us at A Lure when we arrived(as well as handing us a discount card to a majority of the wineries, restaurants, and spas in the area). Lorry was there for our every need and wasn’t even phased when we accidentally broke her wine glasses(which she didn’t charge us for)! Breakfast started with fruit cups, coffee, tea, corn bread, and finished with a egg bacon and vegetable soufflé which was to die for. When we visited some of the wineries around town and we mentioned to the employees that we were staying at Lorry’s they even made a note to tell us how wonderful her breakfasts are. While we visited in February, the Blue Iris is just a small 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk to the water/beach. I’d 100% recommend the Blue Iris to any and everyone and I look forward to staying there again!

Really disappointed after my stay at the Blue Iris. My mother had called and made the arrangements. She had spoken to Lorry who suggested that my grandmother, mother, and I stay in the«suite.» We arrived at the B&B and right away I could see that parking was an issue, they had to move some lawnmowers so that I could park next to their truck. We were led into the main house which looked really nice, but THEN we were told to go down into the basement… the BASEMENT! As it turns out, Lorry’s idea of a suite is in a basement. Once we were inside, she then begins to drop the bombshells: — nobody will make our beds– it is not included in our 2 day stay –we are not permitted to walk through the main entrance door, we must climb around the unlit areas behind the house and use a «private entrance» — the private entrance cannot be locked! The lock is broken on the inside so you have to slide a pole there and once you leave your things are just unlocked. Needless to say we were tremendously dissappointed already, and we would have left right then and there but we didn’t know where else to stay. We decided to stay and that was when we experienced the rest of the«suite» horrors. The bathroom has many small bugs crawling in and out from under the walls(wish I had taken a picture to include with this review) The Noise level of all of the other guests walking above us was horrible– and we were all awoken at approximately 6am, thanks to hearing thundering footsteps above our heads. There are unacceptable egress routes. You cannot call a room a «bedroom» if it has a tiny window up high that is impossible to climb out of. Both«bedrooms» were designed this way. The bathroom had no window at all, and the only exit that was not locked to us, was the unlockable sliding glass door which faced a brick wall underground. We cut our stay short after that sad single night. If only Lorry had been honest to my mother and explained that the«Suite» is actually a basement apartment that does not lock and requires us to climb around the unlit backyard then I would not have stayed there with my 80 year old grandmother, and thus would not have written this HONEST review. Never tried the breakfast so I couldn’t tell you how that was– but one more thing that bothered me was that when we arrived Lorry also ran down into our«suite» to grab her cognac– like she didn’t trust us not to take it or drink it… tactless move. The«suite» aka basement cost $ 329 /night.
