Susan Cohn, MFT & LCSW

My wife and I just completed seeing Susan for about 8 months of couples counseling. It was one of the best things we ever did and Susan was a big reason for that. She helped us deal with some very weighty issues. Her calm insight and understanding of what we were dealing with opened up the discussions so that we could talk about those issues frankly and safely. Through her caring, nonjudgmental approach, Susan helped enable us to better cut past the emotions of the moment in order to deal with the bigger picture. She taught us to communicate better as a couple, modeling that in her own interactions with us. I would recommend Susan in a heartbeat.

Susan Cohn provides tremendous counseling and support. I found her sessions to be extremely beneficial, and she has helped me work through some of my toughest issues over the course of a couple months. She clearly cares about the well being of her clients, and I was impressed at how she quickly got to the root of the problem and started working on it with me, while also making me feel comfortable. It’s never easy making that first phone call (admitting to yourself and maybe family members that you need help), but it has definitely been worth it. While I hope I won’t need too much more counseling in my life, it sure helps to have someone like Susan to rely on. Highly recommended!

I should say that my former therapist, who I adored, passed away and it took me a lot of time (years) to even attempt finding someone new.
During our first meeting, she made a spoken moral judgement about an aspect concerning a previous job, and felt she had pause and probable difficulty about being my therapist.
She is incredibly uninformed concerning the legalities surrounding my former job (relax, I sound like a sex worker, and there is nothing wrong with that – but I’m not), and felt I was obligated to alert the proper authorities about information I had knowledge of. In actuality, it is not legal for me to have acted otherwise. It would have been illegal to do what she felt was morally right.
I felt her very vocal moral judgement of me was incredibly unprofessional, and there was no way I could trust her as my therapist.

Susan is personable and I felt comfortable with her immediately. She is able to change her therapy style in the moment as necessary to make sure my needs are met. I appreciate her expertise in many areas including job stress, childhood issues, and coaching. I relate well to the examples she uses and I always feel completely listened to. I would definitely recommend Susan to help with your life concerns.

I really enjoyed working with Susan. I saw her for a couple of years and she help me work through many issues. I only stopped seeing her because I moved away. I highly recommend her.
