This review is just for the X Bar, since I haven’t bowled yet at the establishment.(: I moved to Cupertino recently and have driven by X Bar and Homestead Bowl a few times. It always looked crowded, but from the outside I really didn’t know what to expect! I mean, what does the X stand for? Haha… Well, one Sunday night I was feeling brave and popped in for a beer on my home after a volunteering shift. How was it? Packed! Poppin’! The bowling lanes were slammed, the bar was slammed… I was shocked! Apparently I’ve been missing out! There was a diverse crowd both bowling and at the bar, which, I learned, hosts poker nights on Sundays. It is divey, but that was expected. Everyone was super friendly, including the bartender who definitely kept her smile while waves of customers kept coming! I’ll definitely be back with friends.

Lady at the front was super nice and let me apply my credit from my old Living Social deal that had been expired for a couple of years. They have a bar attached, and we got to order a couple of beers and drink them during our games. This place does seem a little on the older side as we had a couple of technical issues during our games, but nothing too crazy. It’s a little dingy on the inside, but a lot of bowling alleys are so I don’t count that against it.

This place has gone down hill quickly. I’m not sure if they have new owners but I can’t understand how they can suddenly become so rude. I wanted some clarification on their prices and they got very indignant. I will never bowl here again! Their specials have so much fine print you are sure to overpay for everything and when you call them out they act like you’re the problem. I’m really sad to say this use to be my go to spot for bowling since it had an neighborly feel to it. Not anymore they want to screw you around and make that money.

Visited here because I had a groupon(which is a steal! However, know that the groupon must be bought at least 8 hours in advance). My group of 4 enjoyed ourselves, mostly cause we’re a fun group if I do say so myself. The bowling alley is really dirty and not a place you take people you’re trying to impress. We didn’t get food because it looked like the kind of place to give you food poisoning. I will say that the guy behind the food counter gave me a free soda but I think that he was trying to hit on me. The alley also didn’t have one of our shoe sizes and we had to wait for a pair to be returned. Throughout our entire time bowling, a lady kept calling out people who weren’t following the rules over the loud speaker. It was really funny but also a little unsettling. If you want a nicer ally, try Moonlight! If you want to save money and still have a decent time, this is your place!

My 1st time there and the big bone man name Josh was extremely rude. There was no smile on his face. He talked by mumbling as if he could not open his mouth. I cannot emphasize enough how grumpy he looked. He acted like he didn’t want to work on a Saturday. Very uneducated! I don’t know if he obtained his GED. He said you must take one shoe off and go give your shoe size in a demeaning way! Now here comes another extremely rude, unpleasant face woman name Debbie. She was discriminatory and militant. This is suppose to be a family friendly environment not boot camp! She was so stiff in her mannerism and speech. She acted like she had a lump coal in her arse. Debbie lightening up! When my family approached her for shoes, she told us opposite of what Josh told us. She yelled out as my children were taking off their shoes…“keep your shoes, we are not taking shoes!” Oh my! Like I said this is not boot camp! The owner, Michelle was so passive that all she did was stood and watched how unpleasant, rude, demeaning her staff were. I will never come back here again. I will inform my office with a staff off 2,500 about how terrible this place is. Poor customer service deserves a viral negative exposure.

A solid old-school bowling alley that needs a bit of a make-over.(For the owners: get in touch with the owner of Corbin Bowl in Tarzana, CA because they recently did the type of makeover your alley needs). For example, the front desk is kinda dumpy, the décor around the lanes is very ‘70s, and three of the urinals in the men’s bathrooms were out of order(really? All three?). The food stand wasn’t open when I was there. Their parking lot is huge and there is a Subway in the lot. But, $ 36.50 for three people bowling for two hours is not bad at all. If you’re looking for fancy, more expensive bowling, try Bowlmor. Bizarre comment 1: «tons of little kids» in a negative way. It’s a bowling alley! During the daylight hours and some of the dark hours, this is one of the places where little kids meet up. Bizarre comment 2: «the lane kept broking.» Speaks for itself.

I don’t bowl so I’m only rating X Bar. This is the bar inside the bowling alley. I’ve been to a few concerts here, and watched a super bowl. Service will vary depending on the bartender. The tall redheaded guy can pour all kinds of drinks, the other kids aren’t as good. Price wise it’s middle of the road. Beer is pretty fair, cocktails and shots are closer to ‘high end’ bar prices.(which this place isn’t) Food should be gotten somewhere else. Nearly everything sold here is frozen/deep fried. Still it’s a fun place to watch a concert, or take up a table or two and watch a bowl game on their big screens. I’ll be back!

Mostly about THE X BAR, but I’ve gone bowling here a couple of times, and it was fine. We’ve had lots of fun. I’ve been to THE X BAR dozens of times in the past five years, mainly surf shows on Sunday afternoons and ska/reggae/punk shows on Saturday night. The stage has been steadily improved and is quite nice now. It is only a foot high, but it is nice and big. The backdrop was really cheesy for a while but now it is a nice simple black curtain. They get good bands, and deal with good promoters. Cover charges are fair and the shows are all ages. Those of age can still get served alcohol. I don’t know of another place in South Bay where that is true. It is really important for the local music scene. I’ve dealt with several of the bartenders and they are good. I have no idea what the 1 star guy was complaining about. They take credit cards, and let you run a tab. They remember what you ordered before, and your name. They have a variety of good beer on tap. It is always cold. They have PBR if you are cheap. The food is good, if you order something simple like burgers or a chicken sandwich. The exterior appearance is the only thing I find fault with. It isn’t maintained well. I can understand that they don’t make a lot of money, and I’d rather they pay the local bands more than spend a thousand dollars on a new concrete sidewalk. Hopefully their landlord will step up and spruce things up.

Bowled here yesterday with my coworkers and the place is average at best. When you look at the place from the outside it looks outdated and that transfers when you enter the place. If you aren’t picky with bowling, the place does the job but with my experience there I won’t be returning. When one of my coworkers was picking his bowling ball he went to pick it up and there was liquid(or whatever it was) dropping from the holes. Honestly, that’s pretty disgusting. We ordered food which wasn’t too bad. The wings were flavorful, fries nice and crispy and the nachos were good. The cashier who took my order was very dull and unenthusiastic. Be careful when buying food and using your card. I just checked my bank account and was charged extra. I just called around 10am today and spoke with Josh because I wanted to ask if there was extra charge to use card. He said no and told me that they’ve «received several calls about this» and that since they are a restaurant if you didn’t tip it automatically takes it out. First off, I wasn’t going to tip(I usually do) because the service was very lack luster and the cashier didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. Second, I was not notified nor was there any indication at the register that they would do such a thing. If you are going to do that there has to be a notification as a courtesy to customers. Like I said, if you aren’t picky, the place does the job but if you’re looking for a bowling alley with good customer service, this place doesn’t have it.

We had a blast here! Walking in the front doors took me all the way back to my middle school days… They had the colored lights flashing, music blaring old school and a couple of awesome guys on the microphones giving away free games! Hit the red pin in front and win a game, that was a fun challenge that we successfully failed at LOL! 6 games later, we called it a night. We were like two kids at a dance party… Oh the memories came flooding back… Please don’t ever change!!! Preserve this gem forever! We will be back…

3 stars for the value we got on labour day promotion. Worn out place and need a lot of cleaning especially in the toilets. Good spacious parking but because it gets filled quickly, arrive early in the noon. Also the crowd seemed a bit off from the adjacent bowling if you bowl at the same time. Apparently a lady walked to our group and said you are supposed to wait until your Neighbour is done bowling… This is somewhat awkward but may be true. The service staff seemed a bit confused and the cashier not so polite. Overall didn’t get welcoming feeling so don’t think I will be back:(

The place is cheap and there is a Groupon usually so you can get those cheap rates at any time of the day. We had fun with 8 people for only $ 56 for 2 games with shoe rental. The service is friendly but this place may want to remodel. The balls kept getting stuck in the back and we had to ask maintenance for help multiple times. Sometimes I can swear, we pushed the ball down and it curves towards the end which probably means the ground isn’t flat. Overall worked out and can’t complain for the price. If you’re not serious about bowling or just want your kids to have fun, this is a great value. — no food from outside

Three of us decided to go for some bowling fun. We read the reviews but, still went ahead since it was close to a friends place. We were hoping that some improvements were made. We went in and checked in. No issues. We started to bowl and we wanted to get some beer. We could not find anyone at the bar to take order. i checked at the checkin counter there was a employee(She was not tge one who checked us in). She seemed to be in some conversation with another employee. Neither the lady or the gentleman cared to help us. We waited for five minutes. We then went over to see if she would be able to help us. Our friend was like«would someone be able to help us by taking order for food?» She was rude and was like, «you can order it yourself» more than her words, her attitude and body language were not acceptable. Another friend joined us when we had 10 mins left. Luckly, The lady who checked us in, helped him by advicing him not to pay for the shoes since there was just 10 mind left. we all appreciate her. We checked out after the game and we were happy to see the taller employee who checked us in.

This is just for the poker nights at The X Bar. Randomly found it while searching for places to get my poker fix(while not wasting a ton of money since I’m not that great at it). This was perfect. They offer a FREE poker tournament on Wednesdays and Sundays at 7pm. If you buy food and drink you get rebuys/extra chips. And there is some small amount of prize money provided by the bar. Everyone is really friendly and it’s pretty loose but not bad play — to be expected considering it’s free. It’s also a very fast setup, so you need a bit of luck, but overall a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

No comment on the actual bowling, but I spent 10 minutes outside taking a phone call and the outside was pretty much a dump. Overgrown grass along the side with trash strewn around the back side of the structure. Ugh. The service at the front desk matched the exterior. The staff member was rude and intentionally unhelpful, in my opinion.

It’s a pretty old exterior so when I arrived I thought it was pretty janky. Inside sorta reflects it so I guess there haven’t been any renovations to make it mod looking. Pricing is cheaper on those awkward hours days so on Sunday starting at 7pm it was $ 4 per game and second hour is $ 3 and so forth. I think shoe rentals were $ 4 as well. Definitely worth it to go on those cheaper days. I think Monday and Tuesday have deals too so check online.

They have karaōke here every Friday with kj Vinnie at 9pm. Its all ages, pretty funny I’ve seen kids sing some pretty wild songs here. The stage is pretty huge and makes you feel like a superstar. This is the cheapest place I’ve found that there is to bowl. They have the greatest deals too. The lanes are great. Plenty of balls to choose from, great service, even the food is pretty decent. They have karaōke once a week. The bands they have here are real awesome too.

I would give them 0 star if I could. The lane keep broking down and messing our scores and turns. But the bad equipment quality is nothing compared to the horrible service we experienced. The big guy at the cashier is extremely rude and he act like he is paying us to play. The way he talked, throw shoes on the desk, his attitude when we wanted to change shoes which don’t fit … He has no respect for us as well as other customers. I have no idea why this place still open by now with that kind of customer service. Stay away from this place!

Best place for bowling, drinks, good times with friends. Came here last night for a night out with my Sister-In-Law and my son. We had a blast. It was college night so we had to pay a $ 6 cover and $ 4 for shoe rental. Games were $ 0.25/each. Total for 3 people with shoe rental and 2 games of bowling = $ 24.00.Cheap night out! I love the fact that this is one of the few remaining bowling alleys from back in the day! 300& Bowlmor is a joke. They overcharge you and the whole feeling of the place is uptight and snobby. What I love about Homestead Lanes is it feels like a place to just relax and have fun. Great for people of ALL ages. The staff is EXTREMELY fun and customer service oriented. Added plus: when they were going over the rules on the P.A. they actually asked that dogs be removed from the building(which I think is FANTASTIC!!!) Best bowling alley around. 1. Great customer service 2. Cheap 3. Relaxed atmosphere Definitly coming back SOON!!!
