I got the oil changed for my college daughter’s 2012 Chevy Cruze. She drove back to college without issue. However, later on there was white smoke coming from the engine department. The car under warranty was taken to the Chevy dealer. The dealer advised the cap that covers and protects the oil filter was installed but the oil filter was missing. So the oil filter was removed but was not replaced with the original oil change. How can the mechanic that attached the cap the covers and protects the oil filter be so careless leaving off the oil filter off?
I did call Pep Boys and they did take responsibility and apologize for what happened. Which is adequate… But a basic process needs to be developed to double check the work of the mechanic changing oil. I do not think the referenced issue is acceptable.
