Georgia Department of Driver Services

This place was very clean, and well lit. The way they furnished the interior looks great. I needed to provide information that I did not have, so I was unable to receive services, and so was my Mom. If she was able to receive assistance I would have given this place three stars, BUT, they are really picky, and that is not cool!

Going to the DMV is never a place I enjoy going. It is always such a hassle and there is never a good time to go. The waiting time usually about drives you crazy. But it was a must do because I needed to have my address updated. I intended on getting there right before it opened in hopes of somehow avoiding super long lines. However I had to take my daughter with me and so by the time we got there, they were already open. I walked up to the registration area and told the woman when I needed. She handed me a clipboard, a pen, and a waiting number. The number was B120, which sounded horrible and I imagined being there for hours. I sat down and started filling out paperwork, and I heard B115. I thought I was not hearing correctly but looked up and saw the number on the screen. The numbers were being called out quite quickly, and believe it or not I did not even finish my paperwork before my number was called. I walked up to the DMV employee and told her what I needed. She told me to take my time filling out the rest of the paperwork, and asked for proof of residence. I was so shocked at how smoothly and quickly service was. I am never going to use another DMV location ever, and I’m so glad I came here.

Incompetence personified. Took over an hour off peak. Slo mo employees. Don’t believe the 1 – 20 minute wait estimation their site. That’s wishful thinking.

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN
This place is big and beautiful. There is no escaping the wait so take a book. or something to work on. Once you get to the rep, service is fast and efficient. The key is to get there super early if you can with all of your paperwork ready to go. Also for some selected services, you can make an appointment.
Whatever you do, don’t DRIVE there with a suspended license because you will get checked. I witnessed this. This guy actually drove to the center on a suspended license knowing that he would then have to drive to work. Well, he didn’t have all of the documents he needed to renew his license. A very astute rep, asked how he had gotten to the center, and he admitted to driving himself. She told him that he could not drive his car off the property or he would be arrested. After having a mini meltdown and whining about getting to work, he decided to call someone for a ride.

Walked in and out with a new license within 20 minutes! Had a great experience with Dusti. I mentioned she was really nice, and she said life is to short to be crabby! Now THAT is the kind of person I want to interact and get to know. Best experience at a DMV so far. Not to mention, the awesome new facility!

Anyway, I got here at about 8.35 on a Thursday morning and it was on and poppin’! I swear, I nearly turned around and left. But I really needed to renew my license and I knew I wouldn’t get another chance before the expiry date so I just decided to suck it up.
So, I joined the loooooong line that snaked around the inside of the building. This was the longest part of my whole experience. I was in this line for around 30 – 40 mins. I finally made it to the front and got my number. I took a seat and was called up to the window in approximately 10 minutes. I was at the counter maybe 8 – 10 mins max. The lady at the counter was really pleasant. Then I was out the door.
by the time I got to the front of the line the line itself had become much shorter. I do feel like if I got there at around 9.30/10am it would have been a much faster experience. But overall it was better than I expected.
