I really like the book center. I mainly have to order my books in from them because they don’t have the selection of books I like. I don’t mind doing that because it takes the same amount of time as if I were to order it from Amazon. On selection, they do have at least a few copies of current best sellers in stock. They have local authors, great magazine selection, kids section, and used books at extremely cheap prices. Lee is a cigar aficionado as well and stocks a good selection of Cigars and pipes/pipe tobacco. The book center also hosts a Cigar night at Patrick’s Pub, Not sure when but they have an active mailing list about that. I like the interior look of the shop with tin ceilings and a loft. 4 Stars because of selection on current and up to date books is lacking a little.

I love the used books section of the store because I’ve found some wonderful reads. Some even have handwritten notes from their previous owners which I always find delightful. The variety of books, from children to classic literature, is a pleasure, although don’t expect to find as many as a mass retailer. If that’s what you want, go to BAM at the Country Club Mall. If you want something unique that feels personalized and homey, visit The Book Center. Buy local!

Surprisingly very good selection. I picked up a book from the children’s area. They also have really cute kittens inside the store. While I love kittens, I’m slightly allergic so I could only stay in the store for a brief period of time. They do sell some toys for kids as well. If you check in on Unilocal, you also get a discount.

This place has a good selection of books. I was excited to see a sign about kittens being up for adoption. However, there was a cage full of extremely sick cats. One of them was worse than the others, and it couldn’t breathe, so it had its mouth open as it was gasping for air. I asked about adopting it, as I was hoping to take it to a vet immediately to help it, but they told me «you need to be able to prove that your other cat has had it’s rabies shots.» I’m from out of town and don’t carry those papers with me. I was shocked that they didn’t care that the kitten was probably not going to make it through the night, but they cared about seeing papers. It would have been more ethical to euthanize the poor thing, and I blame the animal shelter for that. Yes it’s sad, but this way, the kittens are just going to die slowly. I refused to buy books here, I’d rather donate money to get these kittens the antibiotics that they need.

Great bookstore — if they don’t have it, they’ll be happy to order it for you. Nice employees. And a great cigar selection, too!
