Dr. Gifford is always very nice to me and my current Minature Schnauzers! When my family dog passed away in the spring the whole staff showed an amazing amount of empathy, telling stories about what a wonderful dog, my Shadow was! Definitely a great place with people who really care about animals! They are great!

Three years ago I brought my dog in with an emergency. They are not my regular vet, but they (at the time) were the only open practice around who accepted care credit. They took a X-​ray, and confirmed what I thought. My dog had something stuck in his bowel. Dr Gifford was upfront about how she could do the surgery, but wouldn’t be able to keep him overnight. She reccomended I go to OSVS. They were friendly and courteous. Which was a big relief.

Instead of an apology for what happened with my pet’s ashes, I received an angry message from the owner of Abbott Valley Veterinary Center – Dr. Gifford – for writing a bad review of her practice. Everything I wrote in my review is the truth, and it’s truly unfortunate that rather than make sure no grieving owner is ever put through what I was with my pet’s ashes, Dr. Gifford is more concerned about not having the reputation of her clinic tarnished. Not a safe place at all to take an animal to, as far as I’m concerned. Not with that kind of attitude.

I love Dr Mowry! This place has literally saved my dog tios life! Highly recommended

I have an 8 year old retired racing greyhound and he’s always well care for here. Everyone is so nice, friendly and obviously loves what they do. My dog gets along with anybody, but he loves all of the doctors and technicians here. He has had very thorough care. They were especially helpful when he dislocated his toe and had to be brought in as an emergency patient. They put everything on hold to help him and make sure he wasn’t in pain. This isn’t the most convenient vet to get to (it’s 30 minutes from my house), but I wouldn’t bring my dog anywhere else!

I had a last minute sick appointment here tody with Dr. Gifford and her tech Deb. I consider my cat to be a *Caution* as we say in the vet community, and they were both really great with her and kept her calm. I was so surprised she did not need more restraint as my cat is an anxious animal and is often terrible for any treatments. She needed to be shaved in the back and I was happy the vet was willing to do this herself so she could check out the area and make sure it was done to her satisfaction. It’s the kind of thing some doctors pass off to a couple technicians, cleaning and grooming type stuff. Also, they are next to Ice Cream Machine so that is a bonus lol.
I do think the waiting room could use some décor to make it a bit warmer. The desk area itself is nice but the rest is a bit bland and the stone fountain in the room is completely out of place. They do offer some good pet products there, including some candles that are supposed to rid the room of pet smells? Interesting idea but they are a paraffin/​soy mix and I think soy is a better option without the paraffin

About 6 weeks ago, a couple of stray dogs showed up in my driveway. Yes, I called the shelters, put up ads, everything I was supposed to do to find the owners. One was claimed the next day by her owner, but the other pup (really, a puppy) was never claimed. So, after 2 weeks, I named him and went in search of a vet to get him all checked out.
A referral from my yoga instructor (yes, my yoga instructor! She’s a wonderful dog momma, so I knew her referral would rock!) sent me here. So far, Rosco and I have had three (3) visits, and they have all been wonderful. At the first check, they told me how old they thought he was (about 5 months), and told me what I needed to do vaccinations/​medications wise to keep him healthy. We were back 2 weeks later for another vaccination, and to schedule his neutering; I came in with a whole slew of questions, which Dr. Tanguay took her time in answering thoroughly. Just a few days ago, we were there for Rosco’s «procedure», and he was home the same day, as feisty as ever!
All of the staff members at the clinic have been just wonderful; they remember me and Rosco when we come in, and clearly care about all of the animals that come into the center. The care we have received has been professional and caring. When it came time to discuss having Rosco neutered, they provided me with quotes and options (i.e. blood work, microchipping), and there was no pressure– just facts presented for why things were recommended or not. Everyone was understanding that as a «first time puppy momma» I was nervous and anxious, and was super helpful in making me– and Rosco– feel calm and reassured!

Best Veterinary Clinic I’ve ever been to! My dog is a train wreck so I’m a here on a regular basis. I usually see Dr. Mowry and he is great, he has gotten to know my dog really well after many visits so we feel very comfortable bringing him there. The other doctors and the support staff are friendly and helpful as well. We’ve never had a problem and never walked out with sticker shock after getting the bill.
