Hands down, the most delicious and authentic Indian food I have ever had. The staff are beautiful and kind. Love at first bite, for sure.

It’s the King of hole-in-the-wall Indian restaurants. Delicious, great prices, and the BEST service and warm vibe. Each of my 11 vegetarian dishes were unique in taste and consistency as opposed to competitors whose dishes all tend to blend together-not sure where curry ends and masala begins. Mayura offers authentic food and ambiance. Staff here dresses in what my untraveled mind imagines to be true Indian clothing of some specific region. Mid-meal, the maitre d’ made her rounds to greet the tables and ensure all was well. It was, 5 stars! PS weekdays and I think 11 – 3 on Saturdays they offer all-you-can eat lunch.

I’ve been here twice in three days. Food is excellent and the people are super friendly and pleasant. The buffet selection is slightly different but better than most Indian joints. I love the flavor and spice so with all that, I found a new favorite spot. Coming from the Bay Area, I’ve tried several Indian places in the five months I’ve been here and have been disappointed by all, comparatively speaking.

The food was clean, simple and spicy savory or sweet at just the right times. Best mango lassi EVER! The dosas are like an Olympic torch making their way in ample size to your table. Exemplary service, lovely and has a elegant yet family vibe.

A mixture of exotic spicy south Indian flavors, tastes with extraordinary humble south Asian hospitality. It is always a pleasure to visit mayura Restaurant because its not only for dining, but it means something else too. Once you enter through the door, you are in India. Welcoming cheerful greetings and great atmosphere to sit and enjoy some Bollywood moves, music and taste splendid south Indo cuisines. Great customer service and the owners will come to you personal to have a friendly chat, and not to be surprise you will be a part of their extended family in no time!.. I’m a Sri Lankan living in west LA, and this Indian place recalls me my roots and memories all the time. If you like Indian food, you dont wanna miss Kerala South Indian food for sure. My favorites are their burianies, masala dosa, and the list goes on and on. Great place, I couldn’t stay away from it in each and every weekend and couldn’t help it at all ! I guess that’s why we decided to move to somewhere else.(No, I’m kidding). Great place, Awesome, cheerful people, splendid spicy South Indian food.

Couldn’t believe how fab this place was. First, it’s huge. White chairs with tuck-n-roll teal booths set the mood. Don’t even get me started on the music; reminds me of our old Indian haunt in Japan(tons of Indian joints in Japan, if you didn’t know). This place also hosts some of the sweetest staff in the world — I swear six different people must’ve offered to get me drinks, a menu, etc. — but it wasn’t annoying at all. And the food, though I only sampled a couple of samosas, was delish. They also serve Allagash(bottle) and many other delites from the beer/wine menu. Can’t wait to go back and try some serious curry and naan.

I had the best experience here at Mayura!!! From the moment I entered the restaurant had such a great energy. All the employee’s there was so happy and had the best customer service, the whole time I was there everyone was smiling. I ordered Appam Chicken Curry, Egg plant masala but my favorite was the Chicken tikka masala and garlic nana uuuuummm so good. Everything tasted so fresh and authentic, every bite took me back to my vacation when I was in Kerala ! I’m always suggesting everyone I know to try mayura. P.s. The owner she is so attentive she came down an sat with me and educated me on the food and culture. Which is very unusual for restaurant that itself made this place one of favorite restaurant.

The only restaurant in the history of Indian restaurants in the US that tell customers how much they should eat. When i ordered something more to eat i was served with a smile by a waiter(prolly owner) saying it is too much food for me to eat. I understand they are concerned about wasting food but doesnt someone have the right to order what they like to eat? Food is pretty good and customer service pretentious!

My favorite Indian restaurant, and the only place you can get Kerala food in LA. Try their Kerala special appam and chicken curry. or fish curry. this is not your typical Indian curry

I will give this 3.5 stars. I have been to this place many times. I love their mango shake. Dahi vada was too good and a must try. Appam is good too. You won’t find appam here in any restaurants and that is the specialist of Mayura. I wasn’t too impresses with rava masala dosa. The filling was kind of bland and dosa was dry. Overall a good place to try mallu cuisine a d other south Indian dishes.

From the sweet smile as the lady owner greeted us at the door, I knew this was going to be good experience. Don’t be fooled my the unassuming entrance in a small strip mall; this place delivers on the food and is actually quite spacious inside. The lunch buffet had a selection of authentic dishes that were quite delicious. There were enough different dishes(maybe 12 – 20) that I was unable to try even half the dishes offered. My favorite selections were the fish curry and the chicken tandoori. I was also impressed by how many different chutneys and sauces were offered. Although I had every intention of going back for a second round of the buffet, my stomach called mercy I was so full. I will definitely be back to try some of the a la crate dishes off their regular menu.

There are quite a few variations of Indian cuisines known to the western hemisphere, the most common of all is northern Indian a.k.a. Punjabi-style — good for you carnivores, ie; Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, or Shrimp Korma… which most people would probably end up patronizing 99% of the time. But if you want all that heaviness toned-down to a healthier level, then you need to go ‘Southern Indian’(Andhra, Keralan, etc,). Mayura is South Indian and specializes mostly in Keralan and Andhra-style dishes known for their signature creations such as Dosas(thinly fried giant rolled crepes, plain or filled) and various vegetarian ‘Thali’ ensembles. Of course there are countless choices on the menu but I’d rather save that for you to choose and judge. This is vegan heaven as well as for those who are not. They also serve their unique version of Chicken Tikka Masala and some specialty seafood dishes. I haven’t really tried their authentic Keralan dishes but Mayura’s take on Shrimp Masala is one-of-a-kind and almost never a miss for me. The restaurant is large and brightly lit with ample booth seating lined throughout the walls, as well as tables in the center of the dining hall to accommodate larger crowds. Service is quick from the waiters, and busboys always making sure your water is filled throughout. But above all, Padmini(and her husband) is always there to check on you. We’ve been dining here for years, some days are not as pleasant as others, but overall it never fails. It’s just good old fashion comfort food from another part of the world! If you’re looking for authentic Southern Indian cuisine, Mayura would probably be your best bet. Caution: Always check your bill for ‘errors’.

Mayura was a great meal. The service on the other hand was a bit lacking. The garlic na’an is also a bit overwhelming. I would suggest ordering one of the individual dishes over the samplers because the quality and quantity is better that way. I had the butter chicken and garlic na’an. The chicken was a bit over, but the sauce was delicious. I mopped the remainder of the sauce up with the na’an. Enjoy!

A review by an indian: It is average. Not too great! The buffet costs about 13bucks. There are about 15 variety of food. Dosa, biryani, chicken & fish curry, veg pulao, a few more curries. He bring the masala dosa as part of the buffet too. The overall taste can be way better. A better and a near by option would be Badmash in Downtown.

How did I not know about this before? I went for the veggie tray where they bring your like 8 side-sized portions of different dishes — it was so fun I got to try everything I wanted, and it did not disappoint. I went for dinner and it was packed. Not sure how the lunch spread is, but I really enjoyed my dinner and I will be back.

TAKEOUT review: First of all the parking lot is a hot mess. I ended up just parking a block over in a neighborhood. The area doesn’t look like it is the safest but whatevs. Our food was not ready when we wanted it to be but I only had to wait about 10 mins till it was ready and piping hot! I ordered the cauliflower Manchurian and the hubby got his usual, the chicken tikka masala. We were both super happy with our food. Great big portions, spice on target, and great flavors. I will say that when I was there the place was PACKED! I don’t know if it is like this all the time but it definitely made me happy I picked this place to get take out from as opposed to the place next door which had no one. Will definitely check this place out again!

After giving this place another chance, they have good dine in food and far great choice of buffet items that are very authentic to the state of Kerala in India. This South Indian based restaurant serves up a lot of vegan gluten free dishes which has quite a bit of tropical flare with a lot of coconut based dishes. Really good for good price. Glad we have it another chance.
