Just ordered the chilli relleno with a cheese enchilada on the side. The relleno was gross. Took one bite and couldn’t eat the rest. Absolutely vile. The cheese enchilada was ok but I definitely won’t be ordering from here again.

I looked here on Unilocal for a place that had menudo, this was the closest to our place. Called to ask and yes, they had some! I’ve been eating menudo since I was a kid and in very particular about the look, taste, and extras. Now the place isn’t huge and parking can be a hassle. It’s in a strip with several other business. So don’t get impatient. The inside is clean and simple. Not too much décor. The menu is small, the basic, most recognized Mexican dishes. You won’t be wondering what it is you’re ordering. My boyfriend ordered a Beef Quesadilla. It looked delicious, lots of cheese and meet and big enough to share. I can’t eat cheese so I didn’t try it. The menudo was a standard size bowl. With Serrano, onions, and cilantro on the side with plenty of lime. I was missing the oregano. I was disappointed no hominy… Menudo with no hominy is pretty much tripe soup. It was hot and with the right amount of spice. It had the big bone with cartilage that folks like to suck on… I don’t! Off to the side that went. I ate most of it, I wanted all of it, but had to stop I was so full. After I ate all the meat I threw in pieces of tortilla, the way I did when I was a kid… Rico! Alicia, the server was attentive and pleasant. She was the only server on duty, but it was slow. We got everything we needed, but then we’re not high maintenance. Overall, I’d recommend it for the Sunday menudo cravings. I’d go back and try something different. I even bought some«pan dulce» to bring home and attempt to have for dessert. I almost forgot to mention the chips & salsa. The chips were thick and crispy and the salsa was delicious and spicy. Not tomato sauce or lame Pico de Gallo. I really liked it! I gave it 4 stars because the menudo didn’t have hominy. Other than that I would give it a five!

Villa Tacos has probably the best free salsa I’ve ever had. The chips could’ve come out warmer, but everything else was very fresh and very tasty, especially given the reasonable cost(most meals, which are very filling, come in at under 10 bucks). Just be sure to ask for more sour cream as they usually do not give enough.

Really good chile relleno ! Our first visit here won’t be the last as even the chips & salsa were so good compared to other places! Reasonable prices for lots of yummy food with unexpected flavors and friendly server. Can’t wait to try something else next time.

So I’ve been to this place 3 times now and I have been amazed at how good the food is! Every time I’ve tried something different and each time the food was great! The enchiladas were great! The Burrito mojado de Asada was delicious! The atmosphere is chill and pleasant. Definitely recommend this place to anyone feeling adventurous to try new food! The waiter is friendly and really accommodating to spice up your dish and extremely helpful too! I’ll be a regular here!

I stopped by Villa Tacos for lunch a couple of days ago while working in Culver City. Villa Tacos is located on a small strip mall on the corner of Venice and Clarington, that it shares with a bunch of other restaurants. The strip mall has a small parking lot but good luck finding parking at the peak lunch hour. When I entered I saw that the restaurant was about half full. Upon entering I was not sure if this was a counter service type of place or if I had to seat myself but a server quickly showed me to a table. Villa Tacos seems to be standard Mexican restaurant that has tacos, burritos, quesadilla, tostada salads and combo places that generally have rice, beans and some sort of meat. I saw that they had a Chicken Mole Negro($ 9.99) dish on the menu so I decided to try that. After ordering I got the standard bowl of chips and salsa. The chips and salsa both seemed industrial but still enjoyable. Five minutes later I got the chicken mole negro. The first thing that struck me was this looked very shiny and had an intense deep color which was different from mole negro’s that I’ve had. The taste was on the sweet side with a little bit of bite at the end. It lacked the intense heat that I’ve seen in some mole negro sauces or the earthy chalky consistency that I’ve experienced in other mole negro sauces. It felt a lot more monotonous without the complexity associated with mole negro. The chicken was perfectly cooked. It had the skin on but it slid off effortlessly leaving behind a nice moist piece of meat on the bone. This was not the best mole negro that I have had but it was pretty good in its own right. Price-wise it was fine for the Culver City location. Villa Tacos definitely has potential so I would probably add it to my lunch rotation if I was still working in the area.

This place is cheap, but if you want cheap Mexican food, I would suggest the taco trucks by Smart & Final. 2.5 stars for this spot! They give free chips and salsa which is great, but it tastes like they bought it from the store, just not very good. I ordered the two taco dish with carne asada and regretted it once I took my first bite. The meat was so tough and tasted weird. I tried to drench it with the lime but the meat still tasted weird. I gave up and just didn’t eat the tacos because it was just gross. The rice and beans were the only things that were actually good, but that’s hard to mess up. Maybe the other items on the menu are good but I won’t be back to try the rest.

I went to this place with my son for dinner one evening and saw that they had happy hour appetizers so I ordered three or four of them and they were really good! We ate our food and then we asked for the check the server reprimanded me for not ordering alcoholic beverages and getting happy hour appetizers. I explained to him that I was with my four-year-old and wasn’t going to drink and drive with him in the car. He then told me that next time I would have to order alcoholic beverages in order to take advantage of the happy hour food. Not cool!

I always come here with my sister after work when we’re craving warm comfort food. The place seems like a hole in the wall type, but it’s always clean, and because for some reason, no one really comes here for dinner, it feels spacious. Service is always excellent, free chips and salsa, plenty of water refills. Sometimes my sister will ask for pico de gallo, and they’ll throw in guac, as well. As for the food, I realize their name has«Tacos» in it, and it sounds like a lot of people come here looking for them and then become disappointed. I’ve never actually ordered tacos here myself, but my sister likes them enough. But in my opinion, if you come here, you really should try their plates or even soups. I’ve ordered: carne asada plate, grilled chicken plate, camaron ala diabla, garlic shrimp plate, and caldo de camaron many times. I have never been disappointed. I come here when I’m craving homecooked meals, though let’s be honest, I can’t grill or cook nearly that well: p Aaaand… as my sister and I were walking to the car just now, the waiter came up to us and handed me my purse… that I left in the booth. This is definitely one of my favorite places.

Wandered in here, wanting to pick up something quick for some friends. Unfortunately, the food here is fairly lacking compared to what you can get at any nearby taco truck. The portions are larger, pricing isn’t too bad, service was very friendly… but the food just isn’t there. The tacos definitely looked like street tacos but tasted much more meh. Al pastor did not really pick up any flavor from the marination. Carne Asada was well cooked, but also under-salted. I made a mistake of ordering the nachos WITH al pastor, so the meat topping was already bland — rest of the nachos, well, it’s hard to mess up nachos.

OMG! The BEST Enmoladas this side of Oaxaca. This ain’t no Gringo wanna be, it’s for those who know their Mexican cuisine. Put this on your short list. The Margarita rocks too :)

Life is tough, but it’s tougher if the meat in your burrito is tough, too. Villa Tacos isn’t expensive, so, you can’t expect the highest quality grub, but, man that Carne Asada was really tough Carne Hardada. I tried the Burrito Mojado($ 7.99) with Carne Asada plus Rice, Beans, Onions, Cilantro, and Salsa topped with a thin Coloradito Sauce and melted Cheese. The light sauce, chewy tortilla, and sinewy beef was a tough combination. I probably should of stuck to the«tacos» at Villa Tacos. Complimentary Chips & Salsa are served for dine-in customers. The salsa was probably the best part of the meal. I added an order of Guacamole($ 2.50) that was totally fine. It’s a decent price and nice pair for the chips, but the guacamole couldn’t save the burrito. Parking is totally free in the strip mall and the guy behind the counter was totally friendly/patient, too. Perhaps, I hit Villa Tacos on an off day. If you go, skip the Carne Asada and Burritos.

This place is fantastic. The best salsa verde I’ve had — it’s spicier than your usual verde, but has a ton of flavor to it as well. Their regular salsa is fantastic as well, but man enchiladas covered in that salsa verde are just wonderful. Great tacos as well — both the carnitas and the asada are excellent. Really dug this place.

It’s not on the menu, but I always order 3 shrimp tacos every Tuesday! They don’t skimp me on the shrimp. It’s a full taco. Includes free chips and salsa WARNING: The salsa is super spicy. But very delicious. I am not sure if their credit card machine is broken, but for the past month, they have only been accepting cash.

Vegetarian review incoming. Hole in the wall local place. The free chips and salsa were delicious while we waited for our cheese quesadilla and a la carte red enchilada. We also ordered two mango margaritas. I don’t know what liquor license they have, and there really wasn’t any discernable alcohol in the margaritas, so they may have been virgin. They were tasty and refreshing and cheap, so we aren’t fussed. But I think if you are drinking, stick to beer here. The food was delicious and we will be back. The cheese quesadilla was really really good, and yes it’s just a cheese sandwich, but the tortilla was fresh and so was the sweet mild cheese. I think the cheese might be homemade, it’s that fresh. The quacamole was just ok, though. The highlight is the red enchilada. My wife ordered it a la carte for a whopping $ 3, and it was awesome. The red sauce was blow your head off spicy with a deep smoky chili flavor. You could put this on your shoe and it would taste great. The enchilada was also stuffed with the super fresh cheese.
