Had buffet lunch, paneer was tasty but rest of the items were okay of vegetarian dishes. We also tried papdi chaat which only had papdis not much Chana or chutney in it.

Checked-in to this place tempted by the name ‘Bawarchi’(a similar restaurant in hyderabad, india is very famous) this is a horrible biryani i ever ate. Strongly advise not to go if you are looking for a good authentic biryani

Bawarchi hits the spot when you want fast, cheap, filling Indian food. The prices are very good for the amount of food you get, and the food itself is all pretty good. Reminds me a bit of an Indian Panda Express. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Got a 3 item dinner to go for about $ 9. Came with naan, papadum, rice, and a yogurt sauce as well as the items I selected. Chicken Tikka Masala — It’s decent. Buttery and creamy, but could stand to be a bit more flavorful. Roasted Jalapeño Curry — This item really stood out for me. Very bright flavor with a lot of heat from the jalapeño. Bombay Chicken — Very tender and juicy. Kind of haphazardly chopped up though, so there’s a lot of bits of bone to deal with. Overall, a convenient place to get a quick bite. It might not be amazing, but it’s good for the price.

This is really, really, really delicious Indian food… I had Chichen Tika Masala, Lamb Meatballs, and Fish Curry with garlic Naan. Sorry no photo, I couldn’t wait to dig in and forgot to photograph it all. But trust me if you like Indian food you will not be disappointed… yummo!!! Will be back. Real soon!

I would give them 3.5 if I could, but I had to round down. Their tika masala is AMAZING!!! The garlic naan is delicious. I highly recommend the mango lassi! The prices are great and the owner really pays attention to the customers… but not his workers. The only reason I am knocking them down is because of their delivery service people. I believe they use a 3rd party service. They were very loud in the dining room. Once they left it was quiet. However, I saw one man, while the owners were helping a customer, take the tongs and drop a piece of food into his hand from the buffet. I really hope this is not common practice. I know that behavior would never pass inspection. Though the serving tongs did not touch his hand, it was still disgusting. Needless to say, I didn’t eat more after that. They really need to clean it up in that regard.

I like this place even though my original intention of coming here is to try Mayruna next door, which was closed. The restaurant is small and there wasn’t a lot of seats. The setting is pretty casual and a lot of different ethnic groups come and eat here. The reason why I like food from this place is like homemade Indian cooking. Unlike other Indian buffet/restaurants, they don’t over grease and butter their food. Their food is authentically flavorful with spice. After eating their food, it doesn’t leave me feeling yucky! I ate at a lot of my Indian friends home with homemade Indian food and this restaurant food makes me feel like at home too eating with my friends. Food: –chicken curry: it was sooooo good. The chicken was tender and not over cooked and they don’t put overwhelm amount of butter into this one. The whole combo with the sauce was like heaven in my mouth with the rich texture of creaminess. I love this dish. –fish curry: I found this very unique in this buffet. Not a lot of buffet has this and they made it right. If you need your omega intake then this is the right dish for you. It’s more like in light soup sauce not the creamy ones so it tasted pretty healthy and less heavy. I love this dish. –samosa: I love their samosa. It is filled with potato fillings and not mostly shell or bread. It is very satisfying when you take a large bite into this happiness. Their other fried stuff with the samosa was really good too!!! –garlic naan: I love their garlic naan. It was made with real garlic with seasoning. When I bite into it, it was chewy and not dried out. –white balsamic rice: I love how their rice was not too over dried! –all chicken in all their dishes are moist and tender –saag: pretty good –cheese tofu dish: it was so good –they have so many vegetarian dish options that you can get at the buffet too like jack fruits and others. I just don’t remember all the other dishes name. Overall: I love this place because it is fresh, authentic, and taste like homemade for me. All their dishes at the buffet taste good and the servers are nice! I would definitely return to this place again in the near future !!!

I would never recommend this place. I thought the pricing is good and expected a lot on looking at the items. The worst food I have eaten in LA. I took 3 curries in vegetarian. Shahi paneer was awful. It’s not even close to actual taste. Veg korma clearly like they took it out of a freezer and it wasn’t even covered for days! Chana masala was a better one than others. Fish and chicken were also old dishes and gross. Please guys. Improve on taste or close it.

Please do not believe in good reviews for this. This is the awful place among Indian restaurants of this area. Perfectly bad and the items are not at all fresh. They tasted very bad. I took an order home. They just put in all the curries in a portioned box which was pretty bad because obviously they all got mixed with the rice . I can’t even explain the taste of paneer curry. Please do not post positive comments unless u really know how Indian food tastes like.

Bawarchi is the best bang for your buck Indian eatery. An enclave of Indian restaurants are spotted along Venice Blvd, but Bawarchi is the outright winner. The lunch/dinner special can’t be beat. My favorite veggie entrees are channa masala and Jack fruit, but you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. For meat eaters, the chicken tikka masala is wonderful, the chicken tasty and the sauce creamy and savory. Grab a Spinach pakora fried appetizer for something crispy. Dip the pakora in all your different entrees, as well as mint sauce & brownish savory sauce(unsure of the taste and name of this sauce). All flavors are distinct, wide-ranging, and wonderful. Don’t forget the garlic naan…

These guys take pride in serving spoilt, reheated, horrible tasting food. My Vada pav was a burger bun with a veg patty that makes a Mc Donald’s burger look good. The Pani in the pani puri was definitely spoilt. This place is just a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don’t bother.

I had high hopes from the reviews, but this might be the most awful food I have ever eaten. It tasted like the smell of dog food. I can’t describe it any other way. It’s horrible, I had to brush my teeth immediately because it was so disgusting. I spent $ 22 bucks on a meal I thought not only would be big enough for two meals, but would be edible. I was so wrong. The chicken tikka masala was just terrible quality, meat quality and flavor. My rice was rock hard and the naan was rubbery. It is now in the trash and I had to get dinner else where. What a waste!

Meh is exactly how I feel about this place. Got the lunch special for $ 7 = 2 mains from the buffet area plus rice, naan, and a poppadam. I had some sort of chicken dish which wasn’t very flavorful and the yogurt curry, which had a mystery vegetable in it. Inside is a little dire and not a place you want to hang around for too long. With the abundance of Indian places in the area, this one needs to step up a bit.

Bawarchi is such a hidden gem! They always make sure to serve you delicious fluffy Garlic naan. It’s never hard or old. Their all you can eat buffet is a dangerous steal because the food is exquisite & you can’t stop eating. Their chana masala, chicken tikka, & aloo gobi are my favorites. I love that their salad bar is also always clean and fresh. If you live in palms it’s a must stop!

Bawarchi is in a small strip plaza and is next to Mayura, another Indian/buffet style restaurant. They have both a lunch AND dinner buffet but also have a panda express style option as well. The lunch buffet is $ 10.95 and is delicious. The best part is they also have DINNER buffet! Their chicken tikka masala is yummy and the chicken is very tender and not dry at all. I also love the fish option they have. Very flavorful. I love that they make their naan fresh so its never cold and hard. The service is amazing too! They are so friendly and accommodating. Definitely try their lunch buffet!

Underseasoned Indian food for the $ 10.95 all you can eat lunch buffet. Dinner buffet is $ 12.95. It is medium quality, nothing really good, nothing really stood out in flavor, but it is cheap all you can eat food in the neighborhood. The two dishes that I liked the most: goat curry(interesting favors) and fish curry. Food is replenished somewhat slowly. All the fish had been scooped out by other patrons leaving just the soupy sauce on the tray for about 45 min before I saw it being topped off with a new batch of cooked fish curry. Water is self served. Food is ok. I may be coming back if I am not looking to be wowed but just to fill my stomach on a budget.

Always on a hunt for delicious food and have yet to find a great Indian restaurant in my ‘hood. Since I went to Mayura(next door) last time, I decided to give Bawarchi a shot. It’s $ 13 for an all you can eat dinner buffet of a good number of different dishes. The chicken tikka masala tasted rather butter-y, when I was expecting more tomato flavors. I thought everything was okay, nothing really stood out to me except the garlic naan(yum!). If you are just hungry and wanna eat a ton of food, buffets are always a good idea. If you’re looking for authentic Indian food, I think you should try somethin’ else.

4-star place? Really?! Went here today(Monday) for a lunch buffet for $ 10.95, expecting some reaaally good flavorful indian food… but sadly left here disappointed. First of all, the place is very small with about 6 – 7 tables. They offer about 15 dishes, half vegetarian and half regular meat. The white rice is located at the corner, next to the water, cups and utensils. I’m sorry to say this, but the food was grosssss! I’ve been to many indian lunch buffet and always enjoyed chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. So my first plate had tofu tikka masala, chicken tikka masala and saag paneer with rice… *Chicken tikka masaka — lacks flavor, the spices were just not there… the chicken was so soft but did not feel like real chicken. *Tofu tikka masala — tasted like microwaveable stuff, lacks the masala flavor *Saag paneer — ugh this tasted spoiled!!! It was so sour, it was disgusting, i cant even eat it after a teaspoon of it… i think they had this from days before. My 2nd plate, my last one as well, had rice and a vegetarian dish labeled«yogurt curry»…this was gross too. I can’t believe none of the food had the flavor that usual indian dishes have. So i stopped and decided i’m done… couldn’t eat anymore after that Service was ok. The guy was primarily gone to the back, checked on us twice and that was it. Honestly, their buffet is not even worth $ 10.95, disappointing… i hate to give a bad review after Unilocalers rated it high… but this place is just not worth it.

Worst decision made in 2014. I should have done my research before coming to Bawarchi. Based on recent reviews, Bawarchi has been trending downhill ever since the original chef moved on. I had the $ 12.95 dinner buffet. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety, as there were over a dozen trays at the buffet table, vegetarian and non-vegetarian trays segregated. This restaurant is no longer vegetarian-only as it formerly was a couple years ago. However, outside of the extensive options, there was nothing impressive about the buffet. One of the reasons why I am leaving a poor rating is because the preparation of the curries left a lot to be desired. Two disappointing vegetarian dishes which immediately come to mind are the chana masala and bengan bharta. When cooked fresh, chana masala contains chickpeas immersed in a spiced gravy. The dish found at Bawarchi appeared to be mushy chickpeas coated with a muted, thick, and dry curry paste. It was inedible. The bengan bharta was not impressive, with a very sweet taste that I did not like(personal preference). It was missing the distinct charcoal flavor infused into the eggplants when roasted in open flame or inside an oven. Bawarchi does carry a jackfruit curry which is not so ordinary at Indian restaurants, but the one I found at the buffet was relatively dry compared to the jackfruit served at Samosa House. The jackfruit cubes also lacked tenderness and the gravy did not appear to be really spiced at all. The product was totally bland. Some of the non-vegetarian curries such as Bombay chicken and bone-in goat curry were actually appetizing and quite tasty for a buffet, a surprise given Bawarchi specializes in vegetarian dishes. The most depressing discovery made during this dinner was that Bawarchi does not follow the traditional and authentic style of cooking bread. Bawarchi’s naan was not baked in a tandoor oven, and instead it was reheated in a microwave. As a result, the naan was thick like pita bread and insanely chewy as rubber. A few bites was all I could handle. Bawarchi management should be embarrassed for taking shortcuts in the preparation of an Indian staple. If you take a peek at the open kitchen window, you’ll see it. I can’t believe I paid $ 12.95 for bland lukewarm vegetarian curries and microwaved naan. There was nothing special to justify the cost — barely any mouthwatering aromatic curries(some were actually congealed and not visually appealing), hardly any service(pay at the counter, self-served buffet), and the ambiance was far from elegant(more like a takeout and delivery joint). In the area, Samosa House is a much better choice for North Indian vegetarian food.

Love love love this place! $ 10.95 Lunch buffet, so many options. Seriously. Gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, sea food, and meat dishes. Everything was fresh, clean and inviting. I could not wait to try this place. Here were my favorites: 1. Chicken tikka masala was so buttery and delicious! 2. Fish curry(doesn’t sound appetizing but trust me on this one!) 3. Soy vegi chicken– I saw the bone in it and I was like what the hell is this? Turns out it was a chopstick so that it would represent a drumstick hahaha. 4. Cauliflower 5. Samosa– crisp, soft inside, not too greasy 6. Pakora 7. Shahi paneer 8. Saag 9. LOVE that it’s served with fresh naan(garlic naan if you want with no extra charge!) I left there too full to eat anything for dinner. The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the goat curry because the meat was so few and far between. It would be fine if you get it in the lunch buffet, but if you get it a la carte you’ll have to dig hard for the little bits. Also my last suggestion– I wish Bawarchi could have little explanations underneath each card to explain what they are. I loved what I ate would never be able to describe it for someone else(no idea what Shahi paneer is)! Also it is kind of embarrassing to have to ask the cashier what every item was. And for the pickier eaters, it would help them decipher what exactly they are putting on their plates. Would definitely come back! Props to you guys.
