What a great restaurant! We held a rehearsal dinner here. Steve the owner was very helpful & accommodating. Our guests had a great selection to choose from & feedback was excellent. The staff was very friendly & attentive. The chefs got the food out hot & correct to our to large group. We highly recommend & will go back again.

We met some friends for dinner on December 30. The restaurant is in an old warehouse in downtown Culpeper. The owner was there and seated us. He definitely loves his second career. Everything about this meal was GREAT; from the atmosphere to the food. I had the ribeye and my husband had the crab cakes(lobster in them too). We were both very pleased with our choices.

Honestly, we’ve had better food and service at chain steakhouses, at half the price. It is unlikely that we’ll visit here again, given our experience. The Food: My wife’s steak(the ribeye) was just OK, and my bison filet had an odd flavor along the outside that appeared to come from the rub. My wife’s baked potato was not done all the way through, and the replacement mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about. The vegetable sides and bread were in small portions, and again not very noteworthy. The Service: Our waitress was friendly, but spoke very quickly, and was not particularly attentive. To be fair, the house was busy, and they probably could have used another server on the floor. There was miscommunication between the waitress and the kitchen that resulted in my entrée being significantly delayed(they had prepared a different entrée), for which the waitress comped my beer. All in all things felt a bit rushed. A few other things to note that are not obvious from the restaurant’s web site: — Reservations are strongly encouraged — there is limited seating, and the restaurant is a busy one — There was no obvious handicapped access, so if you cannot navigate stairs you should contact the restaurant to see how you can be accommodated.

This is a great little place tucked away just off the main street in downtown Culpepper. It’s the kind of place a traveler like myself loves to find! Great food, great service, the owner is always in the house somewhere, and the quality of the steaks is excellent. I’ve had prime rib, the ribeye, and the lamb shank, all were fantastic. The selection of sides is somewhat limited, potatoes, pasta, risotto, a few veggie selections, nothing too interesting, but all very well prepared and tasty. Decent drink selection wine/beer/cocktails. Always interesting specials on the menu too.

Wow. Packed house on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is small. I advise calling for a reservation. I would mention the décor but it was all put right out of my mind by the food. Culpeper is miles and miles from the ocean. Get the scallops people. Best flavor on a scallop I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of scallops. Our table ran the gambit of dishes. Everything was better than great.

Had lunch here and loved it! Everything was delicious and the cream of asparagus soup was outstanding! I will definitely eat here again if I’m in Culpeper.

We walked in with camo on and was treated as if we had suits on. The staff was super friendly and the owner was also very nice to tell us the history of the building. We were hesitate about the food since we just walked in before close, but we were sooooo wrong! Everything was delicious! I will definitely be going back very soon!!!

Piedmont Steakhouse was a wonderful choice for our rehearsal dinner. Our family and friends raved about how good the food was. Steve(the owner) was very friendly and helped me work out the menu, and even printed out menus for our rehearsal dinner with my husband and I’s picture on them. I enjoyed having a room just for us, and two servers attended to just our party. They were more than accommodating and very friendly. I’m very happy with choosing Piedmont as our rehearsal dinner venue.

The wild boar was a smooth meal, very much as the waitress described: like a filet with a bit of bacon flavor. And my wife had the best crab cakes she has had in a while(the waitress said it had some lobster mixed in).

My wife and I went in for dinner and I ordered a steak medium-rare. What I received was medium-well border line well. I spoke with our server and they were very apologetic. Shortly after speaking with the server, I guess a manager came up and said that restaurants all have different ratings for steaks and theirs just happens to be more cooked than most. He then looked at my steak and said that this was their medium-rare. Personally, that seemed to be a quite sorry excuse for their steak to be over cooked and not made to order. They did offer to fire up another steak for me, and he had noted to the cook that I wanted my steak more on the rare side. Now, what I received the second time was a joke, I thought I was being plunk’d. I received a very rare steak, barely seared. For a restaurant to have a the word«steak» in the name, one would think they would know how to properly cook one. Very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I took my wife here for her 29th birthday on May 30th, mother in law also came along. We had a great time, our server was absolutely outstanding. She was right on point with the knowledge of the menu and was very helpful when questions were asked. We were at the restaurant for about 2 ½ hours and never felt rushed, we took our time and really enjoyed ourselves. The owner of the restaurant also stopped by our table and asked how we were doing and such, I think that adds a personal touch to the meal! It is a very good idea to call ahead and get a reservation because there are only 9 tables on the main floor so seating and fill up quite fast on a weekend night. For a appetizer we ordered the Lamb lollipop which was outstanding in flavor! Main course I had the steak with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies, all of which were great. We look forward to coming back to Culpeper this fall and dinning here once again.

Very good for business and dates. They make all efforts to buy local products such as the bread and wines and olive oil. I have had several romantic dinners here and have been very impressed with menu and professionalism of the staff.

Been wanting to try the steak house for some time now so my daughter and I stopped in for lunch. We ordered and appetizer of calamari which was obviously a frozen product and not at all very good either. We then split a pasta dish which was again not very good either. Overall not a good visit and certainly not at all worth the prices being charged

Wanted to try this restaurant for awhile so popped in for lunch how disappointing when they couldn’t accommodate a party of five. There was a two top and a four top available, sad he couldn’t see fit to move those tables together.

We absolutely loved Piedmont tonight! It was an excellent birthday dinner; the best«fancy» meal we’ve had in ages(on-par with Capitol Steak House in DC). The food: Clam chowder was perfectly seasoned and just the right consistency if a little short on actual clams. Filet mignon could be cut with a fork; it was perfect. Seared scallops were amazing, served with the best risotto I’ve ever had. Mixed vegetables were just OK but substitute the sautéed spinach which tasted fresh. Homemade coconut crime pie was to die for. Bavarian chocolate cake was marginal, a bit dry. Chocolate raspberry martini was really good; chocolate would be better on the rim than in the bottom of the glass as my humble opinion. The ambiance: gorgeous building, perfect inside. We sat right by the fireplace, very romantic. We loved the cute little holiday floral vases on the table(lots of glitter eeee!) but thought real tea lights should replace the LED ones. Service: excellent while remaining casual. We had one server who was great. At some restaurants you will get several servers but the service here was comparatively casual. The owner introduced himself and we had a pleasant chat. We are familiar with the manager, Mark, who checked on us; he is extremely professional and personable. Price: on-par with other upscale restaurants in town but legitimately the best meal we’ve had in recent years in Culpeper. The cocktails are pricier here than anywhere else. Wine average price. Beer average to below-average price. We would highly recommend Piedmont, probably more so than any other restaurant in Culpeper based on current dining experiences with the other«big four»(Fotis, Thyme, Copper Fish, and Lucio”.

Loved the food, the place, and especially the staff. Everybody was pleasant, accommodating, and were introduced to us from the start. I was accommodated by being allowed to wait for a friend at the bar and we were allowed to stay there until we felt ready for the table. And this was a busy night without a reservation! They did not have to do that for us. But there was no pressure to move the evening along. The steaks were locally sourced and tasted that way. Clean taste. UNLIKE the usual hormone injected, grain fed, fatty slab. Vegetables were prepared well and not over cooked. I will go back. Its an hour drive away but worth it to be treated like I never left home.

Our extended family met for dinner together. The food was delicious, the drinks delicious, and the service friendly and informative. The building creates an interesting environment, and the upstairs area would be great for a reception or rehearsal dinner. A few highlights: I started with a manhattan, which was a well-executed delivery of this classic cocktail. We shared a bottle of the Virginia white, which was good. The mussels were quite good, fresh and well prepared. It’s easy to overcook mussels, but these were just right. The sauce is delicious, with toast points to sop up the extra. My niece had never tried mussels before, and these made her a fan. A braised lamb shank was the special, which I enjoyed, while other diners spoke well of their filet mignon steaks and several fish dishes. The proprietor informed us that this steak house now serves perhaps two out of five diners seafood entrees. After a delicious meal, we weren’t sure we had room for dessert, but we decided to give it a try. Good thing we did. I had blueberry lemon cherry ginger pie, warm and a la mode, which was memorably wonderful. The chocolate pie was a big hit with the women who tried it. Our waitress was friendly, well-informed, and attentive. The proprietor visited our table and shared some interesting background about the restaurant. Both were clearly proud of the great place they’re running, as well as positive about the growing dining scene in Culpeper. All in all, an enjoyable evening at an excellent establishment. Strongly recommended.

We have been to the Piedmont twice, once without a reservation on a dreary, winter Tuesday night, and once with a reservation for my mother-in-law’s birthday. Both times, the food was outstanding. The first time we did get the impression that a reservation is normally needed. This is a small, warm, antique venue, and I can see that seating an unexpected guest could cause a problem. The owner is garrulous and friendly, and gave us the interesting story of the building. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic, and we didn’t want for anything. I’m not a gourmet, but I like nice food with interesting(as long as they’re tasty) sauces and spices. I’ll try anything. I’d describe the food as upscale and educated… and delicious. We’ve never been disappointed! My mother-in-law is a connoisseur of tiramisu and the Piedmont served the best she’s ever had. We recommend the Piedmont when you’re looking for a nice place to eat. It’s upscale, but won’t break the bank, and consistently serves delicious food. Just remember to make a reservation a day or two ahead, so you don’t create a conflict.
