I have yet to be disappointed by this place, not only Dottie’s but also he travel plaza. The employees and amenities make this a great place to stop for food, fuel, or even a haircut at the onsite hair stylist. Large open lot. More about Dottie’s, the waitresses and management have always greeted me and made my experience great. I haven’t tried the Buffett but everything looks great. I typically stick with something high in protein when I’m there to meet my daily macro goals and I’ve always been able to find Healthy options along with other options I wish I could try.

Great restaurant! If you’re a truck driver this place is a fantastic change from the institutional feeling of truck stops! They have 20 – 50 truck parking spots and a mom and pop restaurant!

Ugh. Waitress clueless. Food flavorless. Asked for«Unsweet tea with extra lemon to make it more unsweet». She brought tea with no lemon. Asked for lemon, she brought 1 piece. Then I asked if they make tea with no sugar in it. She brought tea with no sugar in it. Lemon never materialized after asking twice. Asked for food recommendations. It was her 4th day here and hasn’t tried any of the food. I got spaghetti with meatballs. Safe choice. Huge portion but bland. Meatloaf was flavorless. Even hubby’s cottage cheese was flavorless. Wow. That is impressive. Located at a truck stop. Not worth the parking. Park at the abandoned gas station across the street and go to the Huddle House instead.

The food was ok, the waitress was really Bad, if you go there do not get Stephanie She would rather play around with regulars then do her job. The manager that was there did us right after the horrible waitress made our meal and first time there better

The food is fantastic… cooked fresh, and the prices are very reasonable. The chicken fried chicken is hand battered not from frozen. The meatloaf is wonderful, Italian with a little kick. The gravies are just right, not too salty like the canned kind and the mashed potatoes are made from real potatoes not from a box. The coconut cream pie is light and tasty, a perfect ending. Also had the Southwest Chicken a different time and it is delicious and filling. Cannot comment on the buffet, haven’t tried it. Not what you would expect from your typical Truck stop diner. So if you are traveling Route 66 make sure to stop in for some of the best diner food you have had. The mural in the entryway is a tribute to Route 66.

A typical restaurant found on the interstate. I think restaurant was recently renovated and it’s very clean with an open concept. In fact the entire travel center looks brand new on the inside. I had a breakfast of bacon and eggs with homefries and toast. Food was ok however I would have liked the homefries to be a little more crunchy. Service was fine and the coffee was better than most places serve. I will stop by again to try the buffet.

I’m a loner, Dottie; a rebel. It’s hard to judge a meal after finding a beard hair cooked in, but here goes: Dottie’s Family Restaurant is flawlessly average. The portion sizes are inconsistent. Choose fries as your side, and the plate will be overflowing; choose mashed potatoes and good luck finishing them in more than 3 bites. Aside from the mistake of ordering mashed potatoes, I also made the mistake of ordering a reuben. As to not end completely negative, the coffee was enjoyable and the service was up to par. 3⁄10 would not smash. UPDATE: [Warning — Do Not Proceed if Hungry] Dottie, you have provided quite an ab workout this evening. After having logged two serious stops in the bathroom, I began to question the day’s culinary adventures. What I thought was a fart turned into the steady stream of a fire hose. Unless you’re looking to rapidly lose water weight and quickly tear through handfuls of toilet paper, beware of Dottie.

The food was very good for breakfast. Glad I’d stopped by. Place is very clean and service was great. Didn’t try the buffet, ordered from the menu but will try it the next time.

Its a good place to eat food is pretty good they have a breakfast buffet and when I asked the waitress if I could get fried eggs insted of the scrambled eggs on the bar and she said will have to charge you for them and I said REALLY almost all other truck stops will do this for you if you ask this really sucks when you pay $ 8,99 for a breakfast buffet and can’t get fried eggs without being charged.

Love the salad bar there. We live locally and like dining here. The staff are friendly, service is excellent and it’s a very clean restaurant/truck stop. They even have a smoking section in the far back that accommodates my husband but I don’t think it interferes with non smokers. We have only had the buffet but it is all fresh and good looking. Also they’re open 24 hours so we could go for breakfast in the middle of the night if we wanted to.

Horrible food and overpriced. The overweight manager that runs the whole travel plaza, Kurt Dandoy, brags about his shitty bbq sauce And how poorly he pays his employees. His gras and diesel prices are 5 – 10 cents more than the local stations, should pay people more if they charge more for gas and diesel. The buffet food is so old that it looks like dried up leftover food. Close this place down, please, health department !

I’ve stopped here to use the seller huge bathrooms(newly renovated) but never eaten here, much SF I love the fact that there’s a smoking section as some sort of archaic flashback, but I don’t enjoy the pervasive smell of smoke… Delicate smellers might want to reconsider.

Best Breakfast buffet I have had in a long time. Remodeling of the Restaurant makes it a little confusing, but sit any where and the servers are there to help you in no time. Almost everything is homemade. Real eggs on buffet, not the processed fake eggs you find on most buffets. Cinnamon Rolls were homemade from scratch, Nice and warm and soft. Fluffy pancakes with warm syrup. Servers were all very friendly. My husband had their Ham & Cheese Omelet. He says it is the fluffiest omelet he has ever had. We are definitely coming back when I’m in Cuba, Mo again. Love this place and the people.

This is food, made from scratch food. Really good. The other reviews made me nervous. I had the buffet and it was what I expected. Fried chicken, smoked pork chops and alot of other stuff. Not a huge buffet but worth 10 bucks. The soups were amazing. My wife had a burger which was very good. The bun was very fresh and the burger was cooked properly. The service was perfect. There is construction but they give a 10% discount during construction. It didn’t affect our enjoyment of the meal. Buffet and burger was 17 dollars. Try it for yourself.

Located directly next door to the Midwest Travel Plaza, this is a restaurant/c-store combo. The restaurant was under extreme construction and it wasn’t immediately clear whether you were supposed to seat yourself or wait to be seated. The waitresses couldn’t be bothered to help either; they were too busy chatting it up with each other. There was a smoking and a non-smoking section, and yes, you will still smell and taste smoke in the non-smoking section. There is no barrier of any kind. The smoking is to the left when you walk in and the non-smoking is to your right. We decided to stick it out with the buffet because the menu looked completely undesirable. Bad, bad decision. The fried chicken was burnt, the mashed potatoes had been sitting enough to grow a layer of film, the turkey was dry, and the bread pudding cake was hard as a rock. Poor, neglectful service that we had to flag down every single time we needed refills or more napkins. This is definitely a spot for the«regulars», and man, am I glad I am not a «regular», because this food sucks almost as bad as the service. Two stars for truck parking, good unsweetened iced tea, and a comment card box. Never again.

Truck-stop type diner not worth the stop… We came in on a Thurs. night, to hide out from a thunderstorm on our way to Steelville to camp/float. I got those«you’re not from around these parts» looks, that weren’t followed-up with any type of decent service, and the blandest quesadilla I’ve ever tasted. I’d just hit up one of the fast-food chains at this exit instead, if you’re looking for a bite.
