Coleman’s Crystal Lake

Hubby and I came here tonight for the fish fry (AYCE beer battered cod, he had the smelt dinner) and the Hawks game. I don’t know what those other people encountered, but the place looked and SMELLED clean, Alex (our server) was polite and friendly, though she was quite busy.
Yeah, this is a local «hole in the wall» now, but I’ve been patronizing Coleman’s since they were located on Rt 31 then Rt 14 (good pizza and burgers then too) when they were a true restaurant. Laid back and simple :)

This is the worst bar I’ve ever been to in my life and I’ve been in some shady places! First of all, the place smells like a big steamy turd! The plumbing problem is so gross and disgusting that I had to whip out my body spray just to hide the stench. The bartender chick is a big fat cunt! She hates anyone who is nice, happy or decent looking. She also smelled like she had been drinking whiskey all day with the stale stench of cigarettes to match her yellow teeth! I think she seriously needs an attitude adjustment! The 2 dollar burgers were not even worth the two dollars since it tastes worse than a burnt turd. Let’s not forget how dirty the the glasses were… Actually saw old lipstick marks on them, when I said something to the mean bartender lady she told me it was fine and that I was a snotty bitch. I was so upset that I threw a five dollar bill at her and told her to keep the change… The bill was only 4 something. If u want to eat and smell shit while dealing with a mean old lady then this is the place for u!

I’m composing this as I sit here on a Monday after work. Pbr tall boy in one hand, cell in the other. It’s fun. Larger then it looks and has that local dive bar feel. Some «townie» is rambling on. All bars need one, he’s fun.
I had a $ 2 burger. Smaller then I expected but awesome party. I’m impresed.
Lastly, they do have a patio, only three tables but I did not notice it from the front.

I’ve only been here two times for lunch a few years back. Their hamburgers were very good. Two weeks ago the wife and I stopped there for the Friday fish fry. Nice hearty portion of fish with coleslaw and FF’s. Larry, the owner came out and welcomed us as well and made us really feel at home. Wait staff is polite and attentive. We liked this gem so much, we went back this past Friday for the Fish Fry. Just as good as last week!

Wow, talk about sour grapes! Their distasteful sign in response to the plight of Nick’s Pizza is an embarrassment to them and to the town of Crystal Lake. Community businesses should support each other, not mock a fellow business. Shameful.

We escaped to this little gem of a bar & grill. We were desperate! After spending twenty minutes at a kiddy party at the Laser Game place across the street, we were driven to drink. This is a cute little place with the friendliest staff & patrons. Lots of big tv’s for the sports fans. After getting our drinks and sitting at a table, the chef (and maybe owner) came out and welcomed us. He told us about the complimentary spread and made us feel very welcome. He even gave me the recipe for his clam dip (awesome!).
